All Nightmare Long

Chapter 438

Author's Note: There wasn't a lot of reviews last chapter, let me hear from you. This is where I am getting nervous because this is a major change due to no Michonne and Rick, but if you aare reading and have stuck with me this long, you love Jewel as much as I do. Let me know! Even an PM. I love hearing from you. Review please.

Summer and Jesus POV:

Jesus stood in the doorway of Summer's room as she gathered supplies. "I'm surprised that you are going to go, knowing how you feel about me being here," he said.

Summer grabbed her backpack and slung it over her shoulder. "I wouldn't miss the chance of seeing my old pal Gregory," she said sarcastically. "My family is going to go, weather I like it or not. So, I'm going to go with them," she said. "Has Negan been back to bash anymore people's heads in?"

"No, that was an unexpected visit. I am sorry you had to see that, I'm sorry that anyone had to see that. It wasn't the first time he beat someone's head in front of us," Jesus told her.

"Uncle Daryl had some run in with some of his guys on the road,"Summer told him. "It's inevitable that we're going to run into him at some point. But, we could be getting ready for him, preparing the town for him. We shouldn't be going somewhere where he already knows. What if he's watching the road? What if he's got spies? Not everyone here can fight, most of the ones who can, are making this trip. I wish I could just send you on with a car, but I can't. But I can make sure that my family is safe, and this time, I will be looking around Hilltop," Summer said.

"I wouldn't expect any less," Jesus said with a smirk.

"Let's go," Summer said as she went passed him.

Mar, Daryl, Mitch, and Michonne's POV:

Mar glanced at Mitch who put down a book bag. "Going somewhere?" she asked.

"With Dad and you," Mitch stated. "Hopefully."

Michonne glanced at Mar as she came into the room with Daryl. "Am I interrupting something?"

"No, Mitch here was just going to explain to me why he thinks I would let him go with us to the Hilltop, instead of staying in Alexandria, where it's safe," Mar told them.

"In other words, boring," Mitch said.

"Kid's got a point," Daryl said.

Mar glanced at Daryl. "Not helping," she hissed at him. "So, start explaining why you think we would let you go," she said.

"I'm about the same age Carl was when this all started, he was 12, I'm almost 11 if not 11. Up until three months ago, I was helping protect the group. I still go out hunting with dad," Mitch explained. "And I did help Denise when the wolves came into Alexandria," he pointed out.

"Yeah, and I wasn't to happy that you volunteered for that," Mar reminded him.

"But you're needed here to help watch Judith and Hope," Michonne tried to help.

"Mika's here, any of the Alexandrian's are here, Tara and Rosita, also Lexi or Sasha. Father Gabriel," Mitch pointed out. "There's plenty of people here to do it, you don't need me to do it," he said. "You know I can handle it, it's going to just be a normal trip to a new place," he said. "Maggie's going, and she's pregnant," he added.

Mar sighed and looked at Daryl. "What do you think?" she asked.

"I think he can handle it, actually I know it," Daryl said.

Mar looked at Michonne. "What do you think?"

"I know he can handle himself," Michonne said. "He's going to be with us. I don't blame him for wanting to get out of here for a bit," she said with a wink to Mitch.

Mar sighed and shook her head. "Alright, you can go, but the same rules apply as they did on the road," she told him.

"Thank you!" Mitch said as he jumped off the stool and grabbed his bag.

"Since you're going, you can help me with the RV," Daryl said. "Come on," he said as he nodded toward Mitch.

Mar shook her head as they left. "I wasn't going to win that, was I?" she asked.

Michonne threw an arm around her. "He is a Dixon, adopted or no," Michonne pointed out.

Mar laughed. "He is," she said as she shook her head.

Rick, Jewel and Quinn POV:

Quinn looked at Rick and Jewel as they came up to her steps. "There's a lot of activity going on over there, what's going on?"

"The guy we brought in, he's from another community. He says that he has food, live stock," Rick said.

"He's the one that saved Summer," Jewel explained.

"So, is he going to give us some food? Some live stock?" Quinn questioned.

"We're going to try to convince him,"Rick said. "Do you want to come with us?"

"You're both going?" Quinn asked.

"Yes, we are," Rick answered.

"Then someone needs to stay behind and pretend to be in charge right?" Quinn asked.

Jewel laughed and shook her head. "You are in charge," she told her.

"I'm just following your lead," Quinn told them. "I've said it from the time you were brought in, you knew how to survive out there, you know what it takes to survive. If any of us had been lost out there for a week, I highly doubt that most would survive, but Summer did. And she did it because of what she was taught, by you. I can handle Alexandria, you guys go see if this place is suitable to trade with," she instructed.

"We'll be back tomorrow, hopefully with good news," Jewel said as she and Rick turned to leave.

"You know Rick, you wouldn't have included me or even asked me," Quinn said.

Rick and Jewel turned around. Rick nodded and sighed. "One of your mother's last wishes was for me to take care of the whole town, make everyone my people. You and Jewel figured out how to do that a while ago, I just needed to figure it out," Rick told her.

"Good to know," Quinn said with a grin.

"We'll see you later," Jewel said as they turned to walk away. Jewel walked with Rick over to Carl where he was filling up gas cans.

"Are you sure?" Carl questioned.

Rick shook his head. "No, but if he's telling the truth, this could be the start of everything," he said.

"Summer isn't thrilled about going back," Carl said.

"I don't blame her," Jewel said. "But she is giving it a try, because she knows we need this," she said.

"We're going to have Gabrielle come over and watch Hope and Judith with Mika while we're gone. Get your stuff," Rick instructed.

"Nah, I'm not coming, someone's got to stay back, keep this place safe. The kid with the messed up face probably wouldn't make a good first impression anyway," Carl told them.

"First of all, haven't I told you not to talk about my son like that?"Jewel asked. "You are a survivor, and if anyone ever says anything about your face, they are going to have to answer to me," Jewel told them.

"Me too," Rick answered.

"Second of all, you don't have to volunteer to stay here, there are plenty of people to help out. But we aren't going to push you, if you want to stay, you can," Jewel told him.

"Yeah, I'll stay, it's no big deal. Plus Mitch is going, I shouldn't always get to have all the fun," Carl said.

Jewel nodded as she took off his hat and kissed his forehead. "Love you," she said.

"Love you, too," Carl said.
