Hello again. A new chapter, the third part. It'll be a fourth part, too, so you can see that this chapter, in general, is very important. Well, I hope you like it.

I'm not own from Merlin.

Telvar had known Merlin since he had been just a child. From a very young age, Merlin used to visit him for advice and stories. He used to go alone, although he sometimes went with some of his friends of Ealdor, who many of those funny and unsettling children did not pay the slightest attention. Merlin was almost the only one paying close attention to it. He was seen as a shrewd, insightful, and intelligent child, but above all, quite brave to be able to come even at night, walking from his village to the Eóten Gorge (it was quite a distance. It easily took one five hours of trip-to-paw), at only seven years old. And since then, Telvar knew Merlin wasn't a normal child. Of course not, how could it not be, coming from the father he came from? But, yes, that's what scared him the most. Knowing he was Balinor's son.

And at that moment he had witnessed it perfectly. And he had been afraid. Tremendous fear. A fear he had only witnessed with Balinor, just his father. He had seen in his eyes what he had seen in him before. He had heard in his cry what he had heard certain times in the past. He had already seen similar emotions in his father before him. And that just wanted to say one thing.

After hearing Merlin scream in such a way, he did not know what to do, and remained in place, scrutinizing and evaluating him in fear. He could see in those eyes the same thing he saw in his father's. Yes, it happened to him, too. And that couldn't be any good.

"I want you to tell me about my father!"

There was an awkward silence, in which Merlin felt tremendously unwell. He felt dizzy and wanting to throw up. He didn't know what to do with his life. He had never felt a feeling and emotion as strong as that, not even before. Two days ago, he felt the monster with tentacles inside him, but he only felt a tremendous concern. But by that moment when he had screamed, he had felt the monster's tentacles expelled with some relief, but realizing what he had done, he didn't feel like living anymore. He just couldn't. He felt the same as in his father's memory. How everything became more blurry and how bad it felt. The monster with tentacles had half gone but could return at any moment. He felt like he was going to fall off the chair. That he was going to pass out.

The awkward silence faded when he heard footsteps coming down the stairs. Great, Merlin thought. Now he'd have to make up an excuse for his friends, lie to them as usual, and sneak out with Telvar to talk about what he really wanted. And he didn't feel like it. If he had been more patient instead of yelling at him... But nothing could do anymore. Actually, he felt like it wasn't him who had screamed, but something inside him. Like the tentacle monster, but worse. Much worse. In fact, he had managed to control him, make him impatient, and make him scream at a man he had great respect for and a man to be trusted.

"I need your help," he said quietly and desperately, looking up the first time since the scream. The steps were getting closer and closer until he could hear Morgana's troubled voice.

"Merlín!"

Before they went down at all, Telvar nodded, scrutinizing him with fear, but concern and compassion. But before he could feel grateful, or turn his head to tell his friends that everything was in order, he felt terrible dizziness go up to his head, which made him see all blurry and fall from the chair half unconscious.

Telvar jumped out of the chair quickly as he pounced on Merlin's semi-unconscious body. At that moment, Morgana came down the stairs and looked at the scene with horror in her eyes. Telvar tried to explain himself, but Morgana was the first to speak, or rather squeal.

"No! Merlin! How dare you!"

Telvar did not know what to answer when Morgana advanced towards him and could see behind him the vague silhouette of Merlin's other companions; Gwen and Arthur, if he didn't remember wrong. He was just going to stop her where she was with a spell when Merlin whispered faintly in Telvar's ear.

"Let's go to the basement, please, Telvar."

Morgana stopped where she was and looked stunned at the boy, not knowing what was going on. She looked at him with a look of extreme concern and Telvar with distrust.

"What did he say?"

"I have to go with him for a moment to the basement..."

"Yes, of course, and there to finish him off!" interrupted Morgana, "I'm not going to let that! He is my friend and I will not allow a dirty man like you to mistreat him!

"Don't take me for a simple, dirty animal!" exclaimed Talvar in a powerful voice as he got up and seemed to get bigger. It looked like the room was getting darker than ever. Telvar could see Morgana walked away cautiously and, it had to be said, somewhat fearful. "I'll go to the basement and cure it there! And now, if it's not a nuisance, I'll go down with him, for that's what he asked me to do!"

And so, he went down with Merlin in his arms down the stairs leading to the basement. There Merlin left in a chair and gave him a medicine. Telvar had been and remained, like Gaius, his friend, a great doctor. When Merlin returned to his color, Telvar took his pipe again, lit it, and sat in front of him. The basement was only illuminated by a lamp hanging from the ceiling. He waited for Merlin to speak, with patience instructed by experience and time.

Merlin was very grateful when he noticed life in his lungs and heart again. It had been a fateful moment that he didn't recommend anyone to have. He had noticed something in him, decaying with him, taking him into the darkness with him. It had been like living in darkness and mist. Just remembering him made him shudder.

"Telvar..." began, not knowing what to say. "I'm sorry, I knew all this time. Gaius told me, and since then I've felt extremely weird and... bad. But what's been weird has been what's happened now. I had felt nothing like it in life." he dared to look at him and could see extreme concern in his eyes. Apparently, it was a rather dangerous and extremely important issue that had happened. "I... I'm sorry for yelling at you like that, Telvar, I didn't mean to...

"Yes, I know that perfectly well," Telvar interrupted in a grave and low voice. "It's not your fault."

Merlin didn't understand how something like this couldn't be his fault, but he put it aside and looked for something to start dealing with his father's subject. And something that had always hovered around in his head exploded like a bomb inside, ready to be shared.

"Always when I was little you talked about my father indirectly, but you never mentioned him or anything like that. Why?

"Your mother forbade me."

Oh, so this all came from his mother. Yes, well, he'd thought about it, and he knew she'd done it for his own good. But he still felt cheated and didn't like that at all.

"And how did you meet my father?"

Telvar was silent for a few seconds, thinking of the answer, until he got up, turned pipe in hand and answered:

"It's a long story."

Merlin had a lot of intrigue and, it must be said, impatience, although the latter tried to reduce it because he already noticed that monster of impatience and pleasure to know more about his father, and the last thing he wanted was to finish as seconds before.

"Tell me, please. I know who my father is. You don't have to keep things to yourself anymore. Please, I need your help."

Telvar shut up for a while and then sighed. He turned, sat down, and said:

"It's okay. I'll tell you."

And so, Telvar started narrating.

The next part will be, finally, the Past of Balinor. It will only be said a part of his childhood, not too much because it will be more in Ealdor (Merlin's mother) and then you will see! I don't want to spoil.

Thank you to Merille Marc. I'm thanking you here because I cannot answer you. You will know what will be revealed in this story. As I said chapters before, I'm thinking of doing a continuation of this, with the story of Emrys, Morgana, Nimueh will appear, what happened to Uther... Basically, doing the Merlin story again since this part, I think. I don't know really, but I'm thinking about it.

Thank you to all the people who are reading this story!

Next Part: Balinor's perspective. Childhood of Balinor. How did he meet him?
