Vera and the baby had to stay in the hospital a little longer than usual due to her early delivery. They had to make sure that Theo was eating and breathing on her own and able to meet all the markers for a full term baby. As Hamish had expected she passed it all with flying colors and despite her early delivery was one heck of a tough little kid. He figured most of it had to do with her being a wolf though. There were a lot of unknowns when it came to a child let alone a baby werewolf. None of the hides would ever dare pick a child as a champion and yet this hide had. Then again the question was, did the hide pick Theo or was Theo the hide itself? It was because of this unknown and the past Tundra's before him that Hamish had created a new journal. One day it would guide the knights of the future, maybe even his own daughter. This journal was of Ember, for Ember, the youngest of the knights.

Hamish had spent most of the day cleaning up the house, making sure everything was set up in their bedroom for Theo, and decorating since she was going to see the house for the first time ever rather than boring hospital walls. He was excited to finally get his daughter home, it was hard going to the university and then running home before spending his nights at the hospital so he could be with Vera and Theo. Hamish arrived at the hospital just as Vera was getting their daughter dressed in her first 'civilian' outfit. No more of those hospital onesies and little bland pink hats. "She's looking good." Hamish smirked seeing Vera had grabbed a very sweet choice of outfit for Theo to go home in.

"I thought you might appreciate it." She smiled down at their daughter wearing the one piece outfit that Hamish had gotten more as a joke than anything when Vera first told him they were keeping the baby. It was a little like a polo styled long sleeves shirt with a cute grey vest and little black pants. Possibly the most adorable thing about it was that Thea's short blond locks naturally had the same subtle wave to the left much like his own hair. Her bangs puffed up just a bit making her look even more like him. "She looks like a little version of you, it's so precious."

Hamish couldn't help but feel an overwhelming sense of pride, dang, dressed like that she really did look like his tiny clone. Of course it was hard though not to also see Vera in that little girl's face. "I thought you hated that my hair did that."

"I do." Vera confirmed just in case he assumed for some odd reason that she would be more accepting of his stupid hair. "But she pulls it off better."

Hamish pretended to be a little offended at the comment and looked back at Theo with a hand on his collarbone. "Theo, did you hear that? Your mother hates my hair. The same hair I gave you by the way but she loves it on you. I think that means she loves it on me too, she just won't admit it." Theo kicked her back legs looking up Vera as she cooed. "See Vera, she clearly agrees with me."

"Oh really? You speak baby now?"

Hamish tickled Theo on the belly making her flinch and kick her legs again. "No, I speak wolf." Hamish carefully picked Theo up making sure to support her head since she had all the head control of a drunkard during happy hour. "Theo, we need to talk about your drinking problem." He joked putting her in her carseat and watching her eyes dart around trying to track all the movement around her. Hamish buckled her in having to unbuckle her twice so he could readjust the fit of the straps. She was so much smaller than he had anticipated, not that it was a bad thing but to some degree maybe it had been good Theo was born three weeks early. For a baby her size she probably would have been closer to seven pounds at 40 weeks and Vera would have appreciated that so much less.

"Snug as a bug in a rug." He was finally satisftied that Theo wouldn't be slipping around in her carseat. Hamish picked it up careful to not let her rock around too much. With Vera's bag on his other arm he got to the door and mentally thought to himself he should have opened that first. "Cra….crud." Hamish caught himself.

"It's okay, I got it." Vera opened the door for him and motioned for him to go through. "Look at that, I haven't forgotten how to open a door."

"Is that a jab to me opening doors for you or you opening doors with your umm…" He didn't want to say it because people were around after all.

"A little of both." She might not have her magic anymore but she certainly did have a magical power over him and he wouldn't deny it. Outside at the SUV Hamish clipped their daughters carseat into the back checking it at least three times before he was satisfied that thing wasn't going to move on them. Not that it mattered since Vera couldn't be more than two feet from their baby. He didn't even bother to ask if she was riding shotgun since it was obvious she was going to be in the back with Theo. On the drive home Theo started getting fussy, squirming against her shoulder straps and kicking like she was trying to get out of the harness. "It's okay Theo we don't have far to go. You won't be in there for long.

It seemed a little odd when Theo startled like something had spooked her, her eyes got wide as she turned her head a little almost listening to something. Vera looked up seeing Hamish shake his head a bit, something he'd do when he heard the ringing noise. Almost instantly Theo broke down crying, fighting even harder in her carseat. "Hamis, did you hear ringing?"

"I did, probably one of the acolytes messing around. First years never listen."

"I think Theo heard it too." It was actually pretty hard having a conversation over her screaming and little panic. Vera rested a hand on her leaning in closer trying to hush her up. "Shhhh, it's alright Theo, nothing to worry about." Vera looked over her daughter not noticing a shift in her eye color or any sign of her hide trying to jump out. In fact this was the first time she'd reacted to any ringing and Hamish had reacted to it a few times in the hospital. Maybe it was because they were so close to Belgrave now? Perhaps she didn't have the detective range of an adult?

"Theo we are so close to home, see there is the big university." Hamish talked back to his daughter. Hamish was avoiding driving too fast but with a screaming newborn in the back seat freaking the hell out he had to admit he did put his foot on the gas a bit more than he felt comfortable. At least it had gotten them into the driveway a bit faster and as soon as the car was in park Vera unbuckled Theo and picked her up.

"It's okay Theo, I've got you." Safe in her mother's arms Theo quickly settled back down. "You really hate being buckled up."

"That or the ringing really freaked her out." How sensitive was a baby to magic? Did the ringing hurt her? Maybe it just frightened her because it was new. "I'll tell everyone at the Temple tomorrow to hold off on using magic for a few days just until she settles down." Hamish was going to have to do something for her though, he couldn't make everyone stop using magic for the rest of the year. That just wasn't possible.

Jumping out of the SUV Hamish went to the back to open the door for Vera and help her down since she still had Theo in her arms. He unlocked the carseat and pulled it out from the car since it was generally what Theo was going to be able to sit in for a while. "I'll get the house door too." Hamish ran ahead of Vera and unlocked the front door before opening it for her. Hung up in the living room was a 'Welcome Home Theo' sign and some colorful streamers. "Home sweet home Theo, look at this big place, this is your home." Hamish closed the door and walked over to Vera kissing her on the cheek. Theo made fists with her hands not all that impressed with her new surroundings as she started to fuss again.

"You want me to take her for a minute so you can take off your shoes?" Hamish asked before Vera let him take the baby. He held her in his arms bouncing lightly to try and calm her down again. "Hey now come on, I know it's not the best interior decorating but your mommy lived her first so it's got to have just her style. Maybe you and I can talk to her about changing things up because that green wall in the entry room makes me want to cry too."

"Hey." Vera glared at Hamish. "It adds color and it keeps the entryway looking bright."

Walking over to Vera's framed news article Hamish pointed to it. "Look Theo, that is your mommy, she was a queen of potatoes." Theo wasn't crying and fussing now, maybe a house tour is exactly what she needed. "And look at that picture, that's you in your mommy's belly. You look so cute. We are going to need to replace that picture with a new one of you soon." Maybe wait until she didn't think everything sucked. Taking her up the steps Hamish walked down another hall. "That's the bathroom but you don't care because you won't use it for a while." He walked up to a door opening it up and showing her an empty room. "This use to be mommy's office but now it's going to be your bedroom once we get the construction done because your mommy said you can't sleep downstairs in the guest room.

He walked into the bedroom then, "And this is where we all get to sleep since again, your mommy said you have to sleep in our bedroom for the first eight months. That means your daddy isn't going to have any fun for eight months Theo but it's okay because I'm sure you'll make sure we are too tired to care." Hamish was so busy explaining everything to his daughter that he didn't even notice Vera standing in the doorway with her arms crossed over her chest looking a bit miffed that he was talking about that to their newborn.

"I'll take her back now."

Hamish turned around still lightly trying to keep rocking so Theo wouldn't start crying again. "Ha, that's what you think, you'll have to fight me for her now." Hamish lifted Theo a little closer to his face. "And before you hit me just remember I'm the man carrying your baby." Without any real reason Theo started whining again making Vera raise a brow at him and walk closer motioning to him to hand the baby over. "Traitor, I thought we were having fun."

"That doesn't really matter when she's hungry."

"How do you know if she's hungry? Do YOU speak baby?"

Vera took the baby back from him and rested her on her shoulder. "Fluently actually and if you spent five days locked up in a hospital room you would know what her hungry whines sounded like too."

"I'm really going to need to brush up on my baby language skills. I hope we don't have a test on it by the end of the week because right now I'm thinking it's more complex than Latin."

Vera smiled at him, "It's alright Hamish, it does get easier the more time you get to spend around her you'll figure it all out too. I just happen to have a good head start on you. You are still a first time parent. Besides there isn't a book on earth that could help out with this, it's a trial by fire really."

"You make it sound so painful." Vera cocked her head to the side with a little smirk. "Oh….yeah I guess it was for you." He wanted to just spend all day with them and getting to cuddle with his daughter but someone had to get to the temple and keep the acolyte's in line. "Well tonight when I get home, I call snuggling rights on Theodora the Explorer."

"Randal, what have you done with Hamish and why are you trying to impersonate him?"

"Ouch, that hurt." Hamish stopped to think about it for a moment. "But also if Randal tried to kiss you I'd have to punch him. As the leader I'd like to have some respect given to my mate."

"That's very sweet, don't ever call me your mate again." Vera threatened with a smile, that was the best way to be threatened by her honestly. "Now go on so I can feed her and you can tell the acolyte's to cool it on the magic for the rest of the week." Hamish smirked back at her as he started heading down the hall. "We will be here waiting for you when you get back."Vera honestly wasn't going anywhere, she just wanted to relax being at home and eat real food for once.
