"Ash Ketchum, I thought I told you to go to bed. You don't wanna miss out on getting your first Pokemon tomorrow because you did not wake up on time do you?" a voice rang out in the house of our protagonist a 14 year old boy who was exceptionally good with Pokemon. Maybe not with his knowledge about Pokemon in general their typings, advantages and disadvantages but what he did possess were qualities that could not be acquired. He had a sort of connection with Pokemon which helped him calm down even rampaging Pokemon in a matter of minutes. He had even managed to calm down one of his uncle's Pokemon when he was not around a Dragon type known as Hydreigon. It didn't take him much time to befriend the Pokemon around the outskirts of Pallet Town. Though most of the Pokemon around the town were of the peaceful nature like Pidgey, Caterpie, Oddish and the occasional Hoothoot although it did include some with a bad temper with the likes of Beedrill and Spearow.

But that had never deterred our hero from adventuring through the nearby forest around Route 1. Armed with the favourite of his mothers Pokemon a Goodra who had constantly been with him since his childhood Ash had explored everything the small town of Pallet had to offer.

The crazy adventures of Ash and Goodra, Ash smirked at the thought of the kind of situations he and Goodra had gotten into. It could easily have been converted into a TV show for children. Though he was more interested in the ongoing match that he had been watching when his mom had called him out. He was watching the tape of this years League Finals of the Indigo League which took place about three weeks ago and Ash had recorded the entire match to watch as and when he pleased afterall a few new tricks could come in handy. He watched as a Nidorino battled a Haunter and saw how the trainer with Haunter first tricked the Nidorino into close quarters from where it could not dodge the upcoming Hypnosis attack and wrapping it up with a Dream Eater. The last Pokemon of the other trainer was an Onix, a behemoth made completely of rock. It quite aptly fit its description as the Rock Snake Pokemon.

Ash switched off the recording at this moment knowing that what was coming up was not an interesting end to the a long drawn battle, and laid down on his bed once again trying to finalize which Pokemon he would be taking as his starter. As there were 4 trainers starting tomorrow himself, Gary, Leaf and Ritchie and he doubted that Professor Oak would let any of them go on their journey without a starter. He knew Gary wanted a Squirtle, Leaf a Bulbasaur and Ritchie a Charmander. He himself was leaning towards Charmander having seen the potential threat a Charizard would be with its aerial prowess added to its crazy attacking strength. Professor Oak's Charizard was an example of a one at the epitome of its strength, alongside of course the Dragon Master and Champion of Kanto and Johto. And with these thoughts Ash went into the domain of sleep.

The next morning Ash was up before the sun had risen so great was his excitement that he had woken up before his clock had even rung. He had gotten ready quickly and was awaiting the call from Professor Oak's associates as to when they should arrive to get their first Pokemon. As soon as the phone had rung he had rushed over to attend to the call. Delia rolled her eyes at the display and decided to let Ash indulge himself.

Turned out the call was indeed from Professor Oak's laboratory and that they had been allowed to receive their starter pokemon and that would be on a first come first serve basis. Ash started running out of the house after hearing before his mom stopped him handing him his Bag and other belongings which would be necessary to his journey and asking him to drop by after receiving his starter. Ash thanked his mother and started his run towards the Oak Laboratory. As he reached the lab he could see Gary, Leaf and Ritchie enter, he was the last to arrive, cursing the fact that his house was the furthest Ash rushed into the room where he could see all his friends and Professor in.

"Oh look who it is. Finally decided to arrive have you we've been waiting for ages." Gary's annoying voice rang out.

Ash sighed rolling his eyes and stated "I saw you walk in 5 seconds ago, despite the fact that you live right next to the lab." Gary flushed but sneered at him before both of them burst out laughing.

Professor Oak decided to intervene and started his regular speech for newbie trainers, which was rudely interrupted once again by Gary while the others let out exasperated sighs.

"Get to the point Grandpa. We are here to get our first Pokemon and we all know the speech."

Professor Oak reprimanded him before turning to all the trainers present.

"It was told that the starters would be given on a first come first serve basis and so Leaf will be taking her choice pokemon followed by Ritchie, then Gary and finally Ash. Also Ash I would like to apologize as only one of each starter was available for me to provide, you will be getting a different choice."

Ash was a tad bit disappointed but even relieved he wasn't a hundred percent sure of picking Charmander mostly because of the fact that after evolution they tended to become rather violent and he wasn't sure that he would prefer having a Charizard as his teams default leader. He could only hope that the Professor didn't give him a Pokemon like Rattata or Magikarp that would be terrible for him.

Leaf stepped up to take her first Pokemon seeing as she had arrived first she walked towards the Pokeball with the leaf sticker on it, everyone already knew that she was going to start off with Bulbasaur given her obsession with grass type pokemon.

Ritchie was next as he quickly scooped up the Pokeball with the ember marked on it, the one containing Charmander and returned back to his position.

Gary was the last as he said "You guys left the best for the last." Picking up squirtle's Pokeball the one with a teardrop mark.

Professor Oak intervened once again before a debate could break out "Now you guys go ahead and meet your Pokemon while Ash and I go meet the Pokemon that I have for him."

"Gramps just don't give him a Magikarp or something."Gary sniggered while the others rolled their eyes as Ash said "Yeah it would be embarrassing if your Squirtle lost to a Magikarp."

Oak meanwhile had walked into his lab and Ash quickly ran after him.

"You see Ash I dod not have any Pokemon that would actually be suitable for a beginning trainer, so I called up my colleagues from other regions so maybe I would be arrange for you a Pokemon that is a starter from other region, but as it turned out none had any spare starters."

Ash was feeling more and more depressed. At this moment he would pick having a Magikarp over not having a Pokemon.

"Then I called Professor Elm from Johto region, but even he did not have a starter Pokemon that could be sent out for you, but we were interrupted by a certain Pokemon who was pointing at the screen and then at himself. It was as if he wanted to meet you and decide whether or not to accompany you as your Pokemon."

Now Ash was confused why would a Pokemon that he has never met before want to meet him. The professor smirked at his reaction and said "Maybe he didn't want to spend more days on Elm's ranch, wanted to have an adventure." he shrugged "only way to find out." he said pointing at a lone Pokeball at the table.

Ash was shaking with anticipation the Pokeball contained the first Pokemon that would be his, hopefully his best friend and the de-facto leader of his band of merry pokemon. He didn't know what Pokemon to expect but seeing as Professor Elm had sent the Pokemon ash felt it would most likely be a Johto native Pokemon, but then again Kanto and Johto were pretty close and scores of Pokemon from Kanto could be found in Johto and vice versa. Ash steeled his nerves and pressed the release button on the Pokeball.

The Pokemon that came out was a small, green reptile like with rocky skin. It had a blunt spike on top of its head, a short, rounded snout, and triangular, black markings below and on the upper corners of its red eyes. Red scales cover its diamond-shaped belly, and there are several small holes in its body. Its short arms lack fingers, while its feet have a single toenail each. It has a tail with a conical center surrounded by a ring of plate-like scales, causing it to resemble a tunnel-boring machine. Ash knew what this Pokemon was, it was a Larvitar, the first stage of the Johto Pseudo-legendary Pokemon Tyranitar.

Ash could count on one hand how many Tyranitars he had seen in the league and that was due to the fact that Pseudo-legendaries were very rare Pokemon to encounter in the wild and it wasn't only due to the fact that they had very few of their species but also due to the surroundings that they used to live in. Pokemon like Gible and Larvitar spent their lives mostly underground or if they were aboe ground they used to live in the most treacherous mountains. Dragonite roamed around the oceans and not much could be said about the habitat of Dratini and Dragonair as their colony had never been discovered. Metagross preferred to live in a colony known as hive and that usually was in deepest of caves or dangerous mountain ranches besides it was a well known fact that they kept moving around relocating every few months. Salamence could be seen roaming the skies but their pre-evolutions usually also lived in mountains trying to fly by jumping over cliffs. Deino and Goomy were relatively easy to find but most trainers just steered clear off Deino as they were known to attack their trainers and everything around them. Goomy on the other hand required a lot of patience to train as their evolved form Sliggo lost vision and that tended to be very difficult to train. The other two Psuedo-legendaries Ash didn't know much about mostly because Alola was a very far off region and Galar had not opened its boundaries for trainers of other regions in the past decade mostly due to the losses it suffered during the previous war with Orre. Though he knew they were Kommo-o a Dragon/Fighting type and Dragapult a Dragon/Ghost type.

Dismissing his thoughts and realising he had been staring at Larvitar for a few seconds now Ash walked up to the little mon.

"Hi Larvitar. I am Ash Ketchum its nice to meet you."

"Lar Lar Vi Ta" He responded looking around the laboratory.

"Larvitar" Ash said getting the attention of the curious Pokemon who was looking around the lab " You see I am about to start my journey as a Pokemon trainer today and I want to become the strongest trainer to ever exist and for that I need to catch and train lots of Pokemon to their fullest potential making them the strongest of their species. So what do you say you wanna join me on my journey to be the best trainer with the best team?" Ash questioned him.

In response Larvitar raised his small stubby hand and yelled out "Larvitar".

"Now that the two of you have been acquainted why don't you go outside and meet your friends, I will be back with your Pokedexes and some Pokeballs.

Ash and Larvitar made their way back to the room where Gary, Ritchie and Leaf were interacting with their Pokemon. Ash cleared his throat as he made his way into the room and relished the wide eyed look of surprise on all their faces when they saw Larvitar with him. He couldn't blame them though they hadn't been expecting him to get a Pseudo-legendary starter. The only trainers he knew with Pseudo-legendaries as their starters were Lance the Kanto/ Johto Champion, Drake of Hoenn Elite 4 with Salamence and that man had been a champion before being defeated by Steven Stone another man on the list with Metagross, Cynthia the champion of Sinnoh with Garchomp.

Ash knew he got very lucky getting Larvitar as his starter and he would be damned if he didn't train him into the strongest Tyranitar. As Professor Oak handed the their Pokedex, he gestured for them to scan their respective pokemon.

Ritchie was the first to scan his Charmander.

Charmander The Lizard Pokemon:

The flame that burns at the tip of its tail is an indication of its emotions. The flame wavers when Charmander is enjoying itself. If the Pokémon becomes enraged, the flame burns fiercely.

Moves known: Growl, Scratch, Ember

Egg moves: Dragon Pulse, Counter

Ability: Blaze

Leaf followed suit scanning her Bulbasaur.

Bulbasaur The Seed Pokemon:

Bulbasaur can be seen napping in bright sunlight. There is a seed on its back. By soaking up the sun's rays, the seed grows progressively larger.

Moves known: Growl, Tackle, Absorb

Egg moves: Toxic, Skull Bash

Ability: Overgrow.

Gary was the next to scan his "Awesome & the best" Squirtle.

Squirtle The Tiny Turtle Pokemon:

Squirtle's shell is not merely used for protection. The shell's rounded shape and the grooves on its surface help minimize resistance in water, enabling this Pokémon to swim at high speeds.

Moves known: Tail whip, Tackle, Bubble

Egg moves: Aura Sphere, Mirror Coat

Ability: Torrent

Finally it was Ash's turn. Pointing his Pokedex towards Larvitar he heard the mechanical sound of the device informing him about his Pokemon alongside some generic data of height and weight of the Pokemon.

Larvitar The Rock Skin Pokemon

Born deep underground, it comes aboveground and becomes a pupa once it has finished eating the surrounding soil.

Moves known: Bite, Leer, Sandstorm, Rock throw

Egg moves: Iron Head, Dragon Dance

Ability: Sand Veil

Ash was impressed by the moveset possessed by Larvitar along with his ability of sand veil and he made sure to tell Larvitar about that. Given sometime he would train Larvitar to become even stronger.

"As you all have gotten your starter Pokemon you can all leave now. But before you do so I would like to tell you something. You guys would definitely have heard of Mega evolution correct."

As they all nodded their heads wondering where he was going. He smirked and added "All your Pokemon are capable of Mega evolving." before walking out of the lab leaving a stunned group of teenagers behind.

Ash was snapped out of his trance when Larvitar butted into his leg making him trip and fall as all the others Pokemon and friends laughed and he gave a mock glare to Larvitar who gave him an innocent smirk.

"Alright then Larvitar let's go meet my mom. She asked me to come after receiving my first Pokemon."

Ash quickly left the laboratory with Larvitar walking beside him. When Ash entered his house he could listen that his mom was talking to someone, probably over the phone. Ash walked into the living room where the video phone was located and broke into a grin when he saw who his mom was talking to.

"Uncle Drayden" he exclaimed happily as his mom snorted at the rather exuberant display of her son.

"Hello Ash so which Pokemon did you choose as your starter?" Drayden asked curious to know which Pokemon was going to be Ash's first Pokemon partner.

"I got the best of all."Ash beamed "You see Professor Oak was unable to arrange a typical starter of the Kanto region therefore he gave me a Larvitar. Isn't that awesome?"

"A Larvitar you say, that is quite a Pokemon to train. You know I caught a Larvitar myself when I was in Johto and buddy when you train it properly you will have one crazy powerful Pokemon with you."

"I know right, I have seen a few Tyranitars in the league and it is very difficult for any trainer to defeat them."

"So Ash I called not only to wish you the best for your journey but also because a certain Pokemon has been waiting for you to start your journey."
Now Ash's eyes were wide and Larvitar was watching on curiously as to what Pokemon wanted to accompany his trainer.

"Is it Axew?" Ash questioned brimming with happiness.

Drayden nodded while Ash's smile widened.

"So I took the liberty of catching Axew and now I will be sending you her Pokeball registering her under your trainer ID."
Ash nodded while Larvitar looked at him as though asking him about Axew. Larvitar had stayed at a Professor Elm's lab since his about a couple of years ago and knew his fair share of Pokemon mostly from Kanto and Johto also some Hoenn or Sinnoh Pokemon as well if a trainer visited those regions but he had never heard of a Pokemon called as an Axew. But judging by Ash's reaction it was clear to see that he liked this Pokemon quite a lot so Larvitar could only hope he would be good friends with the Pokemon.

So Ash explained to Larvitar that Axew was a Pokemon that hatched from an egg when he was visiting his uncle Drayden in Unova and as Ash was the first person she saw she had imprinted Ash as her parent figure and so Ash spent most of his time whenever he visited Unova with Axew. And now that she was joining his team Ash couldn't help but feel as though his journey was going to be great. With a Tyranitar and Haxorus his team would be super difficult to beat for anyone. And he would be damned if he didn't use the full potential of his team.

As soon as Ash received the Pokeball he turned back to the screen and said "Thanks Uncle it means a lot to me if you are entrusting Axew to me."
"I know kid, now make us proud and have fun." Drayden replied disconnecting the call.

Ash decided to meet Axew later and just scanned her Pokeball.

Axew The Tusk Pokemon

They mark their territory by leaving gashes in trees with their tusks. If a tusk breaks, a new one grows in quickly.

Moves known: Scratch, Leer, Assurance, Dragon Rage

Egg moves: First Impression, Night Slash.
