All Nightmare Long
Chapter 447
Author's Note: Jewel cried at the end of the mid season finale. Please read the one shot "May Mercy Prevail Over My Wrath" which deals with Jewel's grief over the loss of her son. She would not let me write anything until I took care of that. Please review. And review this. Thank you.
Hilltop:
Jewel watched as people carried supplies to the RV and smiled softly at Rick. "I talked with Summer, I told her that if she decides she can't do this, we won't make her. I also told her no one is going to be mad at her."
"I'll respect her decision, you know that," Rick said as he kissed her.
"I know, just making sure you know it," Jewel said with a smile.
"So do we know where this outpost is?" Jes asked.
"Andy does, he's the one that's been doing the drops," Jesus answered.
"You think Andy is going to help us?" Jewel asked.
"To get back Craig he will," Jesus responded.
"I'll ask him," Rick said.
Jes sighed. "Can't he just draw us a map? We don't know him and we didn't exactly make a good first impression," she said.
"You can trust Andy," Jesus said.
Jes arched an eyebrow. "That doesn't make me trust him any more, I don't trust you," she said as she walked away.
"Don't take it personally, Jes doesn't trust anyone," Joey said as he joined the group.
"She trusts all of you," Jesus pointed out.
"It took a while," Joey said.
"Even Negan didn't get this much up front," Jesus told them.
"Well hopefully this is the last you'll have to be dealing with Negan," Joey said.
Rick nodded at Jewel as they went up to meet Andy, who Daryl and Abe went to get.
"What?" Andy asked.
"Jesus said you've been taking supplies to Negan since the beginning. We're gonna get Craig back," Rick said.
"Only way to get Craig back is to bring them Gregory's head," Andy said.
"There's no guarantees that they'd release him even if you did bring them his head," Jewel pointed out. "This way, there's a chance," she informed him.
"We're going to get Craig back," Rick repeated.
"How?" Andy asked.
"We need to know what you know about Negan's compound. We need your help, we need you to come," Rick told him.
Andy looked at them. "Yeah, OK," Andy said.
"The RV's going to be full," Jewel said.
"Guess we're taking the car back," Daryl said.
"You got room for one more right? We are talking about righting the world here. Plus you still have my knives," Jesus said.
"They are really nice knives," Jewel told him. "You mind riding in the car again Michonne?" she asked.
"Not at all," Michonne said.
"You up for this?" Rick questioned Michonne.
"It's going to be a fight," Michonne answered.
"We'll win, we have too," Rick said.
"We'll win," both Michonne and Jewel said.
"Everybody load up," Rick called.
Jes turned and looked as someone came out of the trailers. "Rick, hold up," she said as she nodded toward Jesus to follow her.
Jewel and Rick exchanged glances as they followed her.
"I see you have a backpack, does that mean that you're coming with us?" Jes asked Zihayr.
"You really think that you can take out Negan?' the man asked.
"If anyone can, we can," Jes said.
"Then I'm in," Zihayr told them.
"You sure you can do this?" Jesus asked.
"For the first time since my son was killed, I see a light at the end of a very dark tunnel. If Negan is going to be taken out, I want to be part of it, I have to be part of it," Zihayr said.
"Jes," Rick said cautiously.
"Zihayr is Rory's father," Jesus explained.
"Guess you are coming with us," Rick said with a nod of his head.
Beth, Maggie and Glenn's POV:
Beth grinned as she looked at the ultra sound picture from Maggie. "Thank you so much for letting me be there for this," she said as they were still in the medical trailer.
"Of course we'd want the baby's aunt to see the ultrasound," Glenn said with a grin.
"You can keep this right?" Beth asked.
"Yeah we can keep this," Maggie said as she sat up.
"Do you feel better now? That you've seen little one moving and growing?" Beth asked.
"Most defianatley," both Glenn and Maggie said.
"I can't imagine what Lori and Jewel went through with Judith and Hope. They weren't able to see them and didn't know if everything was developing correctly," Maggie said.
"But both of them are healthy. And you're going to be fine. There's a doctor here and Glenn and I are going to make sure you are here when you need to be," Beth assured her.
"Beth's right, we are going to make sure you have the doctor here," Glenn said with a kiss.
"And you are going to let everyone spoil you," Beth added. "And you are not going to get involved with this fight," she said.
Maggie looked at her and Glenn. "I need to be there, I set this in motion."
"We don't have to decide now, but it wouldn't be a bad idea for you to stay behind, for the baby," Glenn said.
"Glenn's right, we don't have to decide now," Beth said. "We need to get going," Beth said. "Everyone's going to love seeing this. This is the future, this is why we are fighting," she said as they walked out of the tent.
"I was just going to come get you," Mitch said. "Everyone is ready to go," he told them.
"Let's get going then," Beth said with a grin.
Summer looked at Maggie. "The baby?"
Maggie grinned as she showed her the ultrasound picture. "Healthy."
"Oh my goodness! That's baby Rhee!" Summer said.
Glenn laughed. "So we are hoping you'd be godmother," he said.
Summer squeeled as she hugged Glenn then Maggie. "Of course! Why me?"
Glenn shook his head and laughed. ""Well we know everyone is going to watch this baby, just like with Judy, Hope and the other kids. But we've been together since the beginning, you're like my sister, like Beth is Maggie's, so I can't think of any one better," he explained.
Summer grinned. "I can't wait! I need to go, we're taking the car back. See you in Alexandria," she said as she went back o the car, them getting in the RV.
Jewel's POV:
Jewel squeezed Rick's hand as he was driving. She glanced back at Zihayr sitting by himself. "I'll be back," she said as she got up and walked to the back of the RV and sat on the floor. "How long has it been?" she asked.
Zihayr looked at her. "What do you mean?"
"How long since your last drink?" she asked.
Zihayr shook his head. "Your friend has a big mouth," he said.
"Jes didn't say anything," Jewel said.
"Then Jesus," Zihayr guessed.
Jewel shook her head. "No," she said. "Look you don't know me, and I don't know you. But you are a grieving parent who wants revenge. I am a parent, and I'd want revenge if something happened like that happened to my child. But, I'm also an alcoholic, so I know that if I didn't have people around me to lean on, I would be drinking. It's not hard to tell that you and a bottle are dear friends. So, I need to know when your last drink was because you are asking to be involved with this. I can't let you, no, I won't let you go out there with my family if there's a chance that you are going to endanger them because you are detoxing. I will do everything in my power to keep them safe, I love these people. So if it's a choice between you getting revenge and them being safe, it's always going to be them," Jewel told him.
"You're right, you don't know me," Zihayr told her. "So you don't have a right to get into my business. I am going to do this, and you can't stop me," he told her.
Jewel smirked and turned her body toward his. "Don't underestimate me, it won't end up well for you. Dixon's don't make threats, they make promises. So, I'm going to ask you one more time, when did you have your last drink?" she asked as she stared into his dark eyes.
"About a half an hour before your friend Jes marched into my trailer," the dark skinned man admitted.
"How much do you drink on a regular day?" Jewel asked.
"Enough to try to forget the image of my sixteen year old son getting his head bashed in with a bat," Zihayr said.
"So never enough," Jewel surmised.
Zihayr ran his hand through his long dark hair. "No," he answered. "Maybe this, maybe killing him, it'll end that image."
Jewel nodded. "I don't know if anything will ever make that image go away," she admitted. "I can't imagine the pain you endured, I don't want to imagine it," she admitted. "But, when we get to Alexandria, you and I are going to go see another man who has given up drinking. You aren't going to pick up another drink, if you do, you aren't going to be coming with us. I hope that you don't have withdraws, because if you do, I can't let you out there. Do you understand?"
"Yeah, I understand," Zihayr answered. "You count all these people as your family?"
"Of course, I do,"Jewel admitted. "We've been through a lot with each other, more than to just consider them friends. It goes beyond that, far beyond that."
"I hope that this goes the way you want it to, because if it doesn't, you're going to be burying some of these people," Zihayr told her. "It's not a deal I would have taken. Are you really willing to do this and risk these people?"
Jewel looked at him. "We know the risk, and I don't want to think about losing any of these people. But it's better to strike before they come for us," she said.
