All Nightmare Long

Chapter 453

Author's Note: Another chapter getting closer to a whole lot of bad stuff. well this is the Walking Dead, though I'm not happy about Carl but is any of us? Please review, it means a lot and I know you guys are still reading. Thank you.

Summer, Rick, Glenn and Rosita's POV:

Summer looked at the three heads laying on the ground then looking up at Rick. "They don't even look close to Gregory."

"If we cut the hair, trim the beard, maybe it would be close?" Glenn asked.

"What about the beady eyes? A good haircut and a trim isn't going to hide the fact that he doesn't have beady eyes,"Rosita said.

"It'll be dark,"Summer offered. "I guess we can try to cut the hair and trim the beard. You're the expert on that," she said to Rosita.

"Do you think you can make it close?" Rick questioned.

"I'll do my best, with all of them,"Rosita said.

"We've done some weird stuff but this might take the cake," Glenn said.

"Take your time, make it as close as you can," Rick told Rosita as he walked away to the group.

Summer sighed as she walked toward the group with Glenn. "I hope this works."

"This has to work," Glenn told her.

Rick stood in the middle of the group. "We're gonna take a look around, try to get a feel of how many people are in there. If we like how it looks, we go in, couple of hours before dawn. The guards outside will be tired, everyone inside will be sleeping. We don't like what we see. we head back and make a new plan. Jes took out a couple of people to scope the area, try to get a higher up vantage point. They don't know who we are, we'll keep Jesus in the shadows. This is how we eat, this is how we eat," he repeated to the group. "We roll out at midnight," he told them.

Summer crossed her arms and tilted her head then looked at Carol. "Is he convincing himself or us?" she muttered.

"You OK?" Carol questioned.

"Haven't been good for a long time," Summer responded as Rick came up beside them.

Carol looked at Rick. "Why's Maggie here?"

"She's guarding the perimeter," Rick stated.

"Yeah but why is she here?"Carol asked again.

"Cause it's her choice,"Rick answered.

"You wouldn't let mom do it if she was pregnant, you wouldn't have even let Lori do something like this. Maggie should be back at Alexandria, you know that, deep down, you do," Summer told him.

"I'm going to stay out there with her," Carol said.

"This whole thing is a race to the armory. We need as many people inside as we can get," Rick told her.

"What happened to not doing anything by ourselves?" Summer questioned. "You basically are saying it's OK for a pregnant woman to stay by herself and be put at risk, putting the baby at risk. That's not what we do dad, it's not who we are. None of this is who we are," Summer said as she she walked away.

"Summer," Rick called after her.

"Let her be," Carol said. "It's hard for all of us but it's harder for her. She's seen this Negan, seen what he can do, what he's capable of. She's scared for what can happen if this goes wrong. She shouldn't be out here, neither should Maggie. Maggie shouldn't be out here in the first place, she shouldn't be out here alone. I'm going to stay with her."

"OK," Rick said.

Good," Carol said.

Rick looked over to where Summer was standing with Joey, contemplating to go over and talk to her but saw Joey shake his head softly. "She done with the hair?" Rick asked as he walked over to Jesus and Andy. "What've we got?"

Jesus nodded at the three heads. "That one," he said as Rick bent down and looked at it.

"Yeah, that's it," Andy said agreeing with Jesus.

"Yeah, alright," Rick said as he got up and stood and looked at them.

"Though it's probably good we're doing this at night," Jesus said.

"Something wrong with it?" Rick asked.

"The nose, Gregory's is a different shape," Jesus said.

Rick bent down and punched the head a few times. He looked back at Andy. "He fought back, he broke your hand right?"

"Guess there's no reason to be subtle about it," Jesus said.

Andy looked at Rick. "What?" Rick asked.

"The Saviors are scary, but those pricks got nothing on you," Andy said as he walked away.

Rick looked at Jesus. "Is there anything you haven't told us about the Savior's and Negan?"

Jesus shook his head. "You know what I know."

Rick nodded. "You alright staying in the shadows?"

"It's a good stratedgy. They've seen me, better not to push the luck," Jesus said.

Rick looked over at Summer. "Negan saw Summer too."

"Negan took an interest in Summer," Jesus informed him. "We don't really know what goes on, but he offers the ones that he is interested in to come back with him. He has one of ours," he told him.

"I'm going to have Summer stay in the shadows with you," Rick said.

"Summer isn't going to like that, at all," Jesus said.

"No, she isn't, but it's for her safety," Rick told him.

"Do you think that she is going to see that way?" Jesus questioned.

"Probably not," Rick answered. "You wouldn't want to tell her would you?" he asked, half jokingly.

"Not over my dead body," Jesus said.

Rick nodded. "It was worth a chance," he said as he walked over to Summer and Joey. "Joey, I need to speak to Summer, alone please."

Joey nodded. "I'm going to go into the RV to try to get a little bit of rest before we do this," he told Summer as he kissed her softly before turning to leave.

"Carol's going to stay with Maggie,"Rick informed her.

Summer nodded. "Good."

"You were right, that we don't do things alone," Rick said. "And you were right about Maggie and your mom. If it was your mom, I would have argued with her to stay behind. I would have Michonne, Daryl, Mar, you, Carl to get her to stay. We would have locked her in the house. And it wouldn't have mattered if she was mad about it." Summer nodded. "At least she won't be alone."

"I want you to stay back with Jesus," Rick told her.

Summer turned and glared at him. "What?"

"You're right about people not doing things alone. Jesus staying behind alone, it's not smart," Rick said.

Summer crossed her arms and looked at him. "Is that the only reason?"

Rick looked at her. "Truthfully? No," he said. "Negan saw you, he knows what you look like. Negan took an interest in you, he left people behind to capture you. Maggie isn't the only one who shouldn't be out here."

"Jesus said that?" Summer said.

"No, he didn't. Carol pointed it out and she's right. You aren't in the right mind frame to do this," Rick told her.

"If any of us were in the right mind set, none of this would be happening," Summer hissed. "Us being out here, doing someone else's dirt work, it's wrong. Daryl and you would have never suggested something like this a year ago, six months ago," she said.

"We aren't the same people we were a year ago, or even six months ago. You're my responsibility, Summer and I'm not going to endanger you like this," Rick said. "If Negan sees you and recognizes you, it only doesn't endanger you, it endangers everyone, even more then we are now."

Summer looked at him. "Fine," she answered.

Rick kissed the top of her head. "You should try to get some rest. We'll be meeting up with Jes and the others soon," Rick said as he walked away.
