All Nightmare Long
Chapter 455
Author's Note: I am not ready for Sunday. I may just wait until the end of the season. I feel like I'm losing a child (Kinda am, they are all my babies.) Negan is in this yet, thank goodness. Let's check on Jewel and Alexanderia then back to the outpost. Jewel wants to deal with Spencer. Please review.
Jewel, Lexi and Carl POV:
Jewel came down the stairs of Jessie's old house with laundry, finally having time to clean out the old houses. "Put the toys in boxes, we'll put them in surpass," she told Carl and Lexi.
"What are we doing with the alcohol?" Lexi questioned.
Jewel sighed. "We can always use it for medical purposes," she said. "We'll take some over to the pantry."
"There's a lot," Carl said.
"And they are hidden, right?" Jewel questioned.
"Yes,"Carl answered.
"Look under the bed for shoe boxes or top of closets. It's a typical hiding spot for alocholics to hide there booze in,"Jewel instructed.
"Did you?" Carl asked looking at her.
"No, I never hid it,"Jewel said as she gave a small smile. "Go on, let's hurry this up. Heath's mother and aunt were nice enough to watch the babies, but I don't want to intrude for to long."
"You're good at intruding aren't you?"Spencer asked from the door.
Jewel sighed as she turned around. "Spencer, what are you doing here?" she questioned.
"I should be asking you that. This isn't you house, you have no right to be here,"Spencer told her.
"Back off, we're cleaning up,"Carl said.
"Carl, go help Lexi," Jewel told him. "I'll be fine,"she told him as he hesitated before he left. "We made a group decision to clean up the houses that were free, in case we get new people. You would have known that if you bothered to show up at the meetings. It's your fault for not knowing what's going on."
"We're not bringing people in," Spencer said. "The last people we brought in, they got the majority of my family killed," he said as he stepped closer to her.
Jewel sighed. "Spencer, I am sorry that your family was killed, but none of that was our fault. Your brother was incompetent as a supply runner and should have never been out there. Your father was murdered by a wife and child abuser, and your mom was bitten. After what Michonne did to help you, I thought we were at a good place. Carl and Lexi lured your mom to where you were, so you could take care of her. They could have easily done it themselves, but it needed to be someone who loved her, it had to be you and Quinn. We're going to make Alexandria what your parents wanted it to be, it'll be there legacy and you should be apart of this, you need to be a part of this, for your mother."
"We were fine before you all showed up," Spencer told her.
"You've been drinking. Again," Jewel stated rather than asked.
"It's not any of your business," Spenser said as he got closer.
"Step back," Jewel warned.
"You and Rick come in here with your group of rag tag minions and you start changing everything. My sister should not be out there, risking her life for something like this. It should be you," he said as he went to grab her arm.
Jewel quickly grabbed his hand, then arm and twisted it behind his back, bringing him down to his knees. "You honestly thought that was a good idea to try something stupid like that?" she asked. "Now, you and I are going to have a talk. Well I'm going to talk and you are going to listen and I mean really listen because I am getting real tired of your crap. Now out of my respect for your mother and a promise to her that Rick and I would watch out for everyone in Alexandria, and that includes you. So, you're going to listen and you're going to let it sink in. I can only do so much to keep your ignorant self alive,"she said as he struggled against her hold. "Stop it. Are you ready to listen?" Jewel asked as she let go and let him stand up. She went to go in front of him to talk to him face to face but felt him grab her shoulder. She turned around and punched him, making him fall. She straddled him and shook your head. "Idiot."
"I'm going to tell Quinn," Spencer told her as he touched his nose.
"What are you five? You go to grab me, you're lucky that you aren't bleeding out right now. So shut up and listen," Jewel told him.
"Mom? Is everything OK?"Carl asked.
"Everything's fine, Carl. Go on and you and Lexi finish up," Jewel said as she looked down at Spencer. She waited until he left to begin. "Now, Spencer, I know you are grieving, and I understand that, more than you know. We all do, and it doesn't get any easier."
"You want me to forget them? Go on like they never existed?" Spencer questioned.
"Did you hear me say anything like that?" Jewel asked. "No, I can tell you the name of the very first person we lost. Her name was Amy, a couple years older than Summer, sweet girl. She was bitten, her sister held her all night, wouldn't let us go near her. When she started to come back, Andrea shot her. It was Amy's birthday," she told him. "So no I'm not telling you to forget them, it doesn't work that way. You carry them with you, you live for them. You don't act like an asshole and go against everything that people who are trying to do nothing but keep you alive. You are dishonoring the memory of your family every time you pull stuff like this. Your sister wanted to go out there because she knows that she needs to know what's out there. She knows she can't always rely on Rick or me. And, I know that you just want to have your sister safe, to have her inside these walls to try to keep her safe. Don't you think I want my family safe? Don't you think that I would rather have them in here than out there? If the world was different, if people was different, no one would have to be out there. But the world isn't like it was before, Spenser, but you are still acting like it is."
"I'm grieving," Spenser hissed at her.
"Who isn't grieving?" Jewel hissed back at him. "We lost my brother Merle, Lexi and Sasha's brother Tyreese and Bob within five days of each other. We didn't get to stop and grieve. No we buried them and kept on moving. You lost your parents and a brother. We lost Noah and Ronnie. Those people out there may not be all related to me, but they are my family. You don't think that I cared about your mother? That I don't carry her death with me? The burden is getting heavy and I don't want to add any more to that load. So, I am going to do my best to keep you alive, but I can only do so much," she said as she held out her hand to help him up. "Go on home Spenser, and try not to drink. Or better yet, go talk with Noel," she instructed as he got up and left.
"Do you think he'll listen?" Carl asked.
"You didn't leave the room did you?" Jewel asked.
"Did you really think I was going to leave you alone with him? I wasn't going to risk it,"Carl said.
Jewel smiled. "Come on let's finish this up,"Jewel instructed.
