All Nightmare Long
Chapter 460
Author's Note: Sorry, the past two weeks have been insane. I am hoping the end of this season means no more Negan. This man has torn apart team family. I don't like how people are acting. I understand it, but don't like it. Please review, it does mean a lot and I know people are reading.
Maggie, Carol and Mar's POV:
Mar looked at Paula, and raised her bound hands. "You want me to check his arm, then you are going to let me check on Carol then Maggie. The longer you wait, the bigger the chance that he's going to get an infection," she warned.
Paula ignored her and turned to Carol. "What are you so afraid of? Are you actually afraid to die?" she asked as she gave a snort. "All this and you're scared of getting your ticket punched?"
"It doesn't matter what happens to me. Just don't hurt Mar, she has a son at home, a son who needs her. Just don't hurt Maggie, don't hurt the baby," Carol begged.
Paula looked at Maggie and snorted. "Yeah, right."
"She got a bun in the oven? She doesn't look it," Donnie said.
"You don't get pregnant and automatically begin to show," Mar said.
"I'm only two months, I think," Maggie said.
"You're some kind of stupid, getting knocked up at a time like this," Paula said. She looked at Maggie as she gave a small laugh. "You think that's funny?"
"When was it ever smart to get knocked up? Women used to die in childbirth. They always thought the world was gonna end. Living through it, why would you just give up?" Maggie questioned.
"But are you gonna live through it?"
"She'll live through it," Mar interjected.
"Yeah, are you some kind of fortune teller?" Paul said. "Aint no way to guarantee it," she said.
"All you've got to have is hope. That baby, all baby and children are our future," Mar said.
"Well you should have stayed back home with your kid," Paula told Mar then turned back to Maggie. It's cute, babies are the point, children are our future. Making bit size snacks for the dead. The point is to stay standing," she said.
"No walkers do that. I'm choosing something," Maggie said.
"That's right, you are, you did," Paula said.
"What is it that you are choosing?" Mar asked Paula.
"You sound like you want to get knocked up, too," Paula said.
"If I could have another baby, I probably would entertain the idea. This life, fighting walkers, fighting people, dying, losing people, there's got to be more. There has to be something to look forward too because if there isn't, then why are we fighting? Why are we trying to stay alive?" Mar questioned.
Molly laughed as she lit up a cigarette.
"The baby," Maggie said.
"Honey in case you haven't noticed, you've got bigger problems than second hand smoke," Molly said.
"Molls," Michelle said.
Molly put it out, stomping it out with her foot. "You all are worse than a group of evangical second graders," she said.
Those things will kill you," Carol warned.
"They already have," Molly said as she showed her a bloody handkerchief. "I'm a dead woman walking, which puts us exactly in the same boat."
Carol didn't say anything as she looked straight forward as Donnie whined in pain. "Paula it feels like it's on fire," he whined.
"Pull that off and you're gonna be nothing more than a spicket," Molly warned.
Paula bent down. "Alright, hold on. Scout crew is coming, thirty minutes out, maybe less," she told him.
"He doesn't have thirty minutes, his nerves are dying. He doesn't get medical help, he's gonna lose his arm, maybe his life. I'm not a doctor, but my dad lost his leg, I know that much. Mar can back me up on that point," Maggie said.
"She's right, and I'm not a doctor, I can't do what he needs, not now. He's beyond my help, unless you want me to cut off his arm," Mar said.
"I aint losing my arm," Donnie warned.
"Your man, Primo, you think he can help you? It's time to end this, talk to Rick," Maggie begged.
"Thirty minuets," Paula said.
"Look, if you don't do this, if you don't contact Rick, then he's going to die," Mar said. "No one else has to die tonight. You haven't killed one of us yet, because you know that is signing your death warrant. But you not making this deal, you putting it off, waiting for your backup, you're signing his. You saw the rest of us, you know the only way you have a chance to survive this, is to make this deal with our group," Mar said. She looked at Donnie as he started to move. "You shouldn't be moving, it's only going to make the blood loss worse," she warned but Donnie ignored her.
"You know my problem? She did this to me. She did it and she's just sitting there right as rain, fully intact," Donnie said.
"Hey," Paula warned.
"Untie me! I'll look at your wound, hurting her, hurting any of us, it's signing all of your death warrants. You know that, don't you Paula? That's why we are still breathing," Mar said.
"You said that it's to late," Paula said.
"I said it may be to late. I won't know that unless you untie me and let me look at him," Mar said.
"Shut up, I'm not untyeing you. Donnie back up," Paul warned him.
"No, you're not making the trade. Let's just do all three of them now," Donnie said.
"No we wait for the other's, we need to play it smart. We need insurance," Paula said.
"Shoot her in the arm too," Donnie said.
"She doesn't care about you, Donnie, that's why she hasn't made the deal. But I care that we all walk out of here alive, and you hurting her, hurting any of us, it's not going to end up well for you," Mar said.
"Shut up," Paula warned. "No, we're not shooting her," she said.
"You're really gonna stick up for some gutless bitch over here? God damn it," he said as he grabbed his arm. "Don't push me Paula," he warned her.
"Shut up," Paula said.
"Donnie stands up hitting Paul going toward Carol.
"Leave her alone," Maggie said.
"I'll look at your arm, don't touch her!" Mar yelled at him.
Maggie, who was closer, used her feet to bring Donnie down. Donnie turned and grabbed her, pushing her against the wall.
"No!" Carol and Mar both yelled.
"You dumb uppity bitch!" Donnie said as Maggie head bumped Donnie. Carol grabbed his leg as Mar scooted forward. Donnie kicked her in the side. Paula came up and hit Donnie from behind.
"Go back over there," Paula ordered Mar. "You really are some kind of stupid. Take her out," she told Michelle as she pointed to Maggie. "See if she knows anything, should've done that before," Paula said.
"What about this one?" Molly asked as she tilted her head toward Mar.
"She stays, but over there," Paul said.
"Don't hurt her! I'll kill you myself if you hurt her or the baby!" Mar yelled. "I need to check Carol," Mar said.
"Damn it,, sweetie you better start worrying about yourself," Molly said. Molly started cleaning Paula's cheek. "He got you good kid," she said.
"He's on pain, guys can't handle pain," Paula said.
"Excuse me," Carol said.
Paula sighed as she looked at her.
"Just wanted to say thank you for helping Maggie, for helping Mar, for helping me. My husband Ed, he used to..." Carol said as Mar looked at her.
"Yeah? I don't care if you're old man used to ring your bell. I see exactly who you are, Carol. I know you're pathetic. You want to think we're just the same? Go ahead, you're wrong. He's just a warm body for my bed, that's it. I could kill him in his sleep," Paula said.
Mar snorted a laugh. "That's why you're all going to die. Maybe not by us, maybe not today, but you're all going to die. You people just co exist, just survive. You don't put your neck out for each other."
"Don't make me duct tape your mouth again sweetie," Molly warned.
Paula looked at Carol who was rubbing the crucifix. "Do you really believe in that crap?"
"My faith got me through the death of my daughter," Carol answered.
"Do you believe in a higher power?" Molly asked Mar.
"No, I stopped believing a long time before walkers came to be," Mar answered.
Paula laughed. "Well the good news, Carol, is maybe you'll see her again soon," she said as the talkie talkie beeped.
"Have you thought about it? Talk to me," Rick's voice said.
"You weren't listening. I said I would contact you," Paula told Rick.
"Would it make a difference if I said I was sorry about that?" Rick asked.
"What do you think?" Paula asked.
"I think you're going to make the trade, so tell me where," Rick said.
"We haven't agreed to that," Paula said.
"You will," Rick answered.
"No, I'm not so sure, we'd be taking most of the risk, not getting much in the way of a reward," Paula said.
"The other option won't work out for you," Rick said.
"We'll take our chances," Paula said as she ended the transaction.
