I opened my eyes to see my angel still sleeping soundly beside me. Her hair had taken a lighter shine to it from what it once was. I inhaled her sweet scent, noting that it had changed every so slightly to include underlying tones of my own and Eric's scent to it. It was pleasant, and a possessive portion of myself was pleased.
I carefully climbed out of bed, careful not to wake my sleeping angel. I moved away reluctantly, leaving behind my sleeping mates for the time being.
I wandered the house for some time, simply taking in everything around me. I had not been in this home before, so knowing it's ins and outs would have been helpful. I made my way to the library, bringing my computer with me. I used my spare time to message Isobel with her new duties as Sheriff. She was still having difficulty with the Fellowship of the Sun. The past incident had weakened their numbers and popularity, placing seeds of doubt in their people's minds, and made them question the true intentions of the church. However, there were always a loyal few. Her plans so far were working to continue what we started, so I refined them and gave her more ideas on how to deal with the church.
I closed my computer, leaving it in the library as I was finished with the small amount of business for the night. I returned to our shared bedroom, making tentative plans for the night, if Ashlin wanted to go along with me, as I did not want to draw Eric away from his work. We had already taken up a large amount of his time, and he was getting backed up in paperwork.
When I walked back into the room, Eric was awake, but still had not moved much from his position curled around our mate. He was lightly running his hands through her hair, careful not to wake her just yet.
"Has she woken up during the day?" He asked as I walked over to what had become his side of the bed.
"No, as far as I can tell, she has not left the bed. Do you think that it could be part of the changes from the blood bond? Does she usually sleep this long?" I kept my voice hushed, as not to wake her before she or her body was ready.
"I'm not sure. As for your second question, it really depends on the day, she can be a very sound sleeper when she wants to be, but she has always woken up before me."
I frowned, looking her over, but not seeing any signs of distress or anything that would indicate. Before I could worry further, Ashlin began to wake. I leaned over Eric, simply watching. Eric continued his gentle ministrations on her hair, and she curled deeper into him, breathing in her scent. She opened her eyes slowly, revealing gowling yellow orbs before they faded back to her original color.
"Good evening, älskare (lover). Did you sleep well?" Eric spoke quietly.
"Yes. Is it strange that I can feel you?"
I smiled, moving my hand to the one that was holding onto Eric. "While it would be highly unusual in normal mortal bonds, I am not that surprised that you can feel us already. Do you feel any different?"
"No, not the other than the fact that I can feel you as part of myself."
Eric climbed out of bed, despite the whine of protest that Ashlin gave. I chuckled, moving into the spot that Eric vacated. "You don't want to stay in bed all day."
"What if I do? This bed is comfy, and so are you." She rolled over on top of me, resting her head on my chest.
"I have plans that involve you." I spoke through my laughter. "I thought we could go to your house, as the cleaners have called to inform us that they are finished. We would gather your grandmother, so we could bring her home. And we could call your brother so you could see him again. But to do that, you need to get out of bed."
She let out an excessive groan, rolling over me and out of bed to join Eric in the shower. I gladly took one of my books, reading until my mates came out of the bathroom to dress.
Ashlin's head appeared over my book. I laughed when I looked up at her. I put a bookmark on the page I was on, placing the book down for my angel, it was easy enough to pick up and read later.
"Are you ready to go?"
She nodded. I quickly picked her up and threw her over my shoulder, laughing at her surprised squeak. "Eric, we will see you later, if we decide to go to Fangtasia."
Eric gave a quick confirmation as we left the room. I did not let her out of my arms until we got to the car. I loved having her so close to me.
We left for her house, going to find out how well the cleaners did. I had nothing but high expectations, as they were Eric's first choice.
I pulled up the newly graveled driveway, one of the smaller things that I had asked for. We walked up to the house, the debris and smells of the past night gone. The inside of the house was just as clear, even to my senses. Ashlin seemed pleased that the house was in good condition, something that I did not need to check the bond for.
We walked through almost every room in the house, checking on the work that was done. We stopped in her room, so she could gather some more things to bring up to Eric's. Quickly enough we were on our way to pick up her grandmother, finally allowing the matriarch to sleep in her own bed again. I was certain that her grandmother would be just as pleased or more so than Ashlin.

I arrived at the palace an hour after sunset, the queen furiously pacing in her sunroom. She started yelling at me the moment I stepped into the room. She cried out at me for not bringing the telepath sooner. She complained that I was useless, only a notch up from her usual rants towards me, so I stood and took it, as I knew that she was still going to give me the help afterwards. She usually spared no expense to get the things she really wanted.
She continued ranting, until she abruptly stopped pacing to look at me. "You are sure that Northman will be the only one with the telepathic bitch?"
"Yes."
"I have a witch that owes me a favor. The only thing you need to do is be there for the girl when she is betrayed by her precious lover. I suggest you leave for Fangtasia as soon as we are finished here, you need to be there if we are to succeed."

I had no choice but to stay in my office, paperwork had been piling up and needed to be done, it was also preferable to the throngs of people lusting after me. Now that I have taken my mate, the fangbangers seemed even more eager to please me with their sexual advances, hoping to pull me away from my Lover. It was exhausting. The only person I would ever want would be my mate. Pam might chastise me in the future for refusing to go on stage, but I couldn't bring myself to care.
The door to my office opened, my angel walking in. I furrowed my brows, I didn't think she would have arrived so soon. I glanced behind her, somewhat surprised that Godric didn't come in with her. One of us was usually by her side.
"I thought Godric would be with you." It was more of a statement than a question.
"He's in the bar." She leaned over my desk, eyeing the pile of paperwork in front of me. "That looks frustrating."
My eyes flickered down to the pile of papers I had accumulated. "It is always frustrating if I ignore it for long periods of time."
She moved around my desk, and I turned my chair so I could face her, a large grin on her face. "Maybe I could help you relieve some of that frustration."
She leaned down, bringing her lips to meet mine. I pulled her hips closer as I made a decision to ignore the paperwork.

Being able to have a formal conversation with my angel's kin was far more enjoyable than I had anticipated. Her grandmother was witty, and gladly helped me to tease my angel more than a few times. I found her love of history refreshing, as well as pleasing when she revealed herself to know much about European history in addition to American.
I was also able to meet her brother, though it was most likely going to be the last time as he was going to be leaving, choosing to volunteer abroad, though he didn't know where he was going to be sent as of yet with the company he was under.
Both were at ease with what Ashlin was becoming, accepting that she was different from the rest of the population, after all, they have known her for her whole life, oddities and all. I couldn't imagine that they would be surprised with too much.
The wonderful woman had invited Eric and I over again, and I was inclined to take up that offer. I enjoyed speaking with the woman, and I could only imagine the questions that she would ask Eric.
We had decided to stop off at Fangtasia, it was still early enough in the night. Pam greeted us at the door, informing us that Eric was in his office doing paperwork.
I made my way to Eric's office, my angel following behind me. I opened the door only to find a brunette woman grinding herself on Eric's lap. A gasp from my mate brought Eric's attention to us, his face one of pure shock. My bond flooded with sorrow and pain from my angel as she exited out the back door. I sent a hard glare at Eric as I followed my mate. The last thing I saw was Eric pushing the woman off of his lap
