A/N: Please be aware that I am working off of the TV show, so the witch that will be helping out is an OC. Amena, a witch who also happens to be a demon.

Ashlin pov

Eric and I followed Godric through the back, avoiding the crowd of Fangbangers, no one in the mood to deal with them today. We met Pam at the door of Eric's office, boredom on her face as usual.

"She's waiting for you. Ashlin, good to see you. Perhaps later you can help me find the idiots that escaped me."

I smiled, I enjoyed Pam's company. "I would love to, if this doesn't take too long."

Pam revealed a fangy grin as we walked into the office. "Wonderful, I will be waiting for you."

I held in a laugh when we walked into the office, and Godric did the same. We took great amusement at Eric's annoyance at seeing the woman sitting in Eric's chair. She was a unique sight, described best as a mix between goth and biker with sunglasses sitting on her face despite the darkness of the sky.

"Eric, I must say, I find your chair extremely comfortable. Godric, good to see you again. And I would love to hear the story of the little female between you after we get down to business."

Godric walked behind the desk, greeting the woman with a hug, while Eric pulled me down to sit on the couch beside him. "It is good to see you again, Amena. It has been a while."

"Don't I know it. What would you have me do today?"

Godric's face became stern as he addressed the problem at hand. "I need you to counteract spells that the witch in the basement might cast, verbally or nonverbally. That witch has threatened both myself and my mates. I want to find out if she was working alone or for an employer. Can you do this for us?"

Amena stood as we did, ready to leave the room. "I'm still surprised you feel the need to explain yourself, all you need to do is ask."

We left Eric's office to descend into the basement where the witch was waiting for us. She was chained against one of the pillars, hands and feet bound, and mouth gagged. No one had touched her since the previous night.

"Well, she's an ugly bitch, isn't she?" Amena spoke to no one but herself.

She was the first to move, removing the gag from the woman's mouth. The other witch was quick to try to cast a spell, but no sound came out of her mouth, no matter how hard she tried. Amena only laughed at her struggle.

"You won't be able to cast any spells, sweetheart. The only thing coming out of your mouth will be confessions."

The woman's eyes grew wide at Amena as she removed her sunglasses. "You're the Demon Spellcaster. No matter who you are, I won't say anything."

The room was quiet for a moment before Amena spoke to Eric and Godric. "Låt inte din telepath komma in i häxans huvud. Det skulle lämna dåliga ärr. (Do not let your telepath into the head of the witch. It would leave bad scars)."

Both Godric and Eric gave a nod in response, and Eric turned to me. "Would you like to join me in my office? As much as I would love to be down here, we should let Amena work. Is that alright with you?"

"Yeah. I can only guess at what you guys have planned, and would much rather not stay longer than I have to."

"Let's go then." Eric took my head, leading me from the basement and back into his office.

He pulled me into his lap as he busied himself paperwork. I made myself comfortable, curling my body into his. The soft scratches of his pen against paper, and occasional clicks of the keys of the keyboard were the only sounds in the room. I closed my eyes and simply listened, letting myself drift off to sleep.

Eric pov

It was a comfort to hold my mate in my arms as I did paperwork, and my heart soared when she fell asleep. I knew that she had found comfort with me as well. I was ever more careful when I worked around her, careful not to wake her.

Godric walked back in with Amena sometime later. Amena settled down on the couch and Godric came over to my side of the desk. His gaze was over the angel in my arms, and he brushed a few hairs away from her face before moving back to lean against the edge of my desk.

"What did you find out?" I pulled my attention away from Ashlin to look at Godric.

"The witch was hired by the Queen to try to drive Ashlin away from us."

A growl ripped from my throat at the thought of my mate being taken away from my, my grip on her tightening. My mate startled, waking from her slumber. She shifted her position, resting her face in my neck.

"What's wrong Eric?"

"The witch in the basement was sent to try to separate you from us."

Her gentle voice calmed my rage to a point where I could think clearly. "I promise I am not going anywhere, Eric."

I refused to let her up as we continued our conversation with the other occupants in the room. "Have you disposed of the witch?"

Amena's face turned into a sinister grin as she addressed my question. "Did you know that it is possible to scare a human to death? If you scare them for a long enough time and intensity, you can cause their heart and brain function to stop. The elevated breathing makes it difficult to get the necessary oxygen into the blood and brain. The elevated heart rate puts stress on the heart, eventually making it wear out. You should have seen it, it was a wonderful sight."

"Maybe another time. Now the real question is, how are we going to keep the Queen from continuing to try to take our mate?"

Godric sighed. "We could complete the bond, but I doubt the Queen will cease her efforts, no matter what precautions we set up. The only logical thing would be to dethrone her, either through the Authority or through a coup. The Authority would be the best option. A coup would be messy, but we should still plan for it in case the Authority is unable. She will be delivered the true death no matter which we follow through with, she has violated the law. Even if there was no law on bonded mates, I would still call for her death. Eric, I know you have people in her court, and we need to gather all the evidence against her that we can. I also suggest contacting whoever we need to in case of a takeover."

"That sounds like a good plan." Ashlin mumbled against Eric.

"Now that we all agree," Amena clapped her hands together, standing. "Does anyone have an empty tape or CD?"

I leaned over, careful of my mate in my arms, to get an empty CD that I had in one of the desk drawers. They were usually on hand to hold extra files, but I made sure to keep a few empty ones on hand. I tossed one over to Amena, curious of what she planned to do. She gave me a quick nod before turning her attention to the disk in her hands.

The air in the room crackled with magic, the smell of ozone permeating from Amena. Her eyes glowed a dull red behind her sunglasses. Within moments it was all gone, the glow, the magic, the smell.

She flipped the disk in her hands before passing it off to me. I held it, noticing that it now held a label on it.

"What is this?"

She grinned. "The first piece of evidence you have against the Queen."
