All Nightmare Long

Chapter 463

Author's Note: Jewel is not happy with Rick after that season 8 finale. Negan better watch out with anything that he eats, Jewel may poison it. Jewel was yelling at Rick, she is so with Maggie on this. I'm going to keep writing, even though the writers are really screwing up my story. I mean killing Carl? I've got some major ideas for Jewel dealing with it. Please review.

Rick's Group:

Maggie held out her gun as she glanced at Carol who was helping support Mar as the door garage style door opened coming face to face with Glenn. Glenn reached out and grabbed Maggie and hugged her.

"Mar was hurt,"Carol told Daryl as they came in.

"I'm alright," Mar said as she hugged Daryl.

"We caught you're trail. You start the fire?"Daryl asked Carol.

"Yeah,"Carol answered.

Daryl looked at Mar then at Carol. "Hey you good?" he asked Carol.

"No," Carol answered.

Summer went up and hugged Mar. "I'm glad you're OK," she told Mar.

Daryl reached out for Carol. "Come here," he said as he hugged her.

"They're dead, the ones that took us, they're all dead," Maggie told them.

"The ones that came to join them are dead too," she added.

"There was a whole lot more of them, but we took care of them on the road. Those idiots slipped past us," Jes said.

Glenn looked at Maggie. "Are you OK?"

"I...I can't anymore," Maggie said as she wrapped her hands around Glenn.

Rick looked at the surviving hostage. "You're friends are dead. No one's coming for you, so you might as well talk," he told him.

"Let him burn," Daryl told him.

"I'm going to ask you one last time. How'd you get the bike?" Rick questioned him.

The man looked at him. "We found it."

"Like hell you did," Daryl said.

"Daryl," Mar warned.

"Was Negan in that building last night or was he here?" Rick questioned.

Primo looked at him. "Both, I'm Negan shit head," he said.

Summer stepped forward with her bow pointed at him. "You aren't Negan," she told him. "He's not Negan," she repeated to no one in particular.

"The women who was holding us, one of them said they were all Negan," Carol said.

"She didn't say what she mean," Mar said. "Carol asked, several times, but she never gave a response."

"So you want to explain what you mean?" Rick asked.

"Give me a few minutes alone with him and I can get him to tell us what we want to know," Jes said.

Primo laughed. "You all just created a shit storm, you have no idea."

"Just tell us where Negan is," Jes said.

Primo laughed. "You should be asking who isn't Negan," Primo said.

"Ass hole isn't going to give us anything," Daryl told them.

"There's a whole world of fun that we can talk about, so let's have a chat," Primo said.

Rick took a step back and raised his colt. "I'm sorry it had to come to this," he said as he fired his weapon, the man immediately dropping.

Everyone stood silent, before Summer walked out the door.

"Let's get home," Rick said.

"You should have given me a few minutes alone with him, he would have talked," Jes said.

Rick nodded as he walked over to Mar. "You OK?"

"Yeah, just going to have a major head ache," Mar answered. "So this isn't over?"

"It may be just beginning," Jes said.

"Or he may have just been yanking our chains," Joey said.

"Let's get going," Rick repeated as he walked outside. "We need to get back to Alexandria," he said as he stopped beside Summer.

"Negan wasn't here, neither was David. Negan knew David. David's probably dead," Summer said, her voice was flat. "Gregory didn't tell us everything. I told him what would happen if he did anything to hurt this family. I'm going to go to Hilltop, need to have a little chat with him."

"Summer, we need to get back to Alexandria, regroup. We don't know if that guy was telling us the truth," Rick said.

Summer turned and looked at him."He wasn't Negan. He was not the man that I saw beat that man at Hilltop. He was not the man that had a bat with barbed wire on it, and he was not the man who grinned while he was beating that man senseless. Negan was as close to me as you are. I searched every face at that warehouse, and NONE of them were Negan. We killed over 50 people, and none of them were who we were after."

"Sixty seven," Jes said she came outside.

"What?" Summer questioned.

"The people at the compound, the ones on the road, and the ones here, total of 67," Jes said. "Joey and Glenn are doing a sweep of the building for whatever they can find," she reported.

"You know that sixty seven doesn't make me feel any better, right?" Summer questioned.

"It shouldn't, but it is what it is," Jes said as she walked off.

Summer shook her head as she turned back to Rick. "Sixty seven people and still we didn't get Negan. We aren't any closer to knowing where Negan is," she pointed out. "It wasn't our fight not yet. I'll go back to Alexandria, for now."

"We won't give up on finding Negan," Rick told her as he hugged her.

"Maybe we should," Summer informed him as she walked away.

Rick and Joey's POV:

Rick drove one of the extra cars following Daryl's motorcycle, the RV and a ruck carrying weapons. He looked over at Joey who was sitting in the passenger side. "You could have ridden with Jes and Summer."

"You needed someone to ride with you," Joey answered with a shrug.

"Summer thinks we did the wrong thing," Rick said.

"We did what we had to do. We needed food," Joey answered. "Summer wants to keep her humanity, and by doing something like this, she lost some more of it. That we lost some more of it. She's angry at herself for not being able to convince us not to do this. She's woke up screaming a couple of nights because of what she saw, that is if she sleeps at all."

Rick glanced at him. "Why didn't she tell us? Why didn't you tell us?"

"You know Summer," Joey responded. "She was hoping that Negan was here, so that this was over. Now she's going to be worried what reprecussions this is going to have in the long run."

"Do you think we did the right thing?" Rick asked.

"Yeah, it felt good for once to do something before they came for us," Joey answered. "I'm just tired of losing people."

Rick nodded. "I know, so am I," he stated.

"You know she won't stay mad forever," Joey informed him.

"I know," Rick answered.

"It wasn't a whole loss you know? We may not have gotten Negan, but we do have food for a month and we do have weapons," Joey pointed out. "Maybe we saved people's lives by taking out those men. And, that's what makes me be able to live with what we did. Summer will be able to see that, she will," he said.

Rick nodded. "We're coming up on home."

Alexandria:

Tobin stood on the guard tower as he saw Daryl's motorcycle coming, leading the row of vehicle. "Open the gates! They're back!"

Jewel and Eugene both opened the gate, both of them standing on either side of the it as the motorcycle and cars came in. Jewel and Eugene both closed the gates after they came in. Jewel ran toward the cars. "Daryl, you got your motorcycle back," she said as she hugged him.

"Yeah they had it," Daryl answered.

"Did you get him? Negan?" Jewel questioned.

"No, he wasn't there," Mar answered.

"I need to get her to the infirmary," Daryl said as he helped Mar.

Jewel turned and looked at Summer as she walked past them. "Summer?"

"Not now, mom, I just need some time," Summer said as she walked away.

"It was a long night," Carol told her as she squeezed her hand.

Jewel turned and looked at Rick. She gave him a hug and kissed him. "What happened? Daryl said Negan wasn't there? And Summer?"

"He wasn't. Summer's not taking it well," Rick said.

"Let's go upstairs, you can take a shower, tell me what happened," Jewel told him.

"Dad," Carl greeted said as he held Judith.

Rick hugged him then kissed Judith.

"We're going to go upstairs. Can you help them unload the trucks?" Jewel asked as she took Judith.

"Yeah, no problem," Carl said.
