All Nightmare Long
Chapter 467
Author's Note: Someone asked for a little bit of Rick and Hope, so the first part of this is that. Then get to Jes and my plans with them, and hopefully some Daryl, Denise and Rosita. We'll see how it goes. The cemetery group (as I'm calling them) will only be in a couple chapters than be back like Oceanside and trash people. Thank you all for reading. I can't wait until season 9. Ideas are brewing for the time skip. Hopefully I'll be in some season 7 when 9 is on. Review please.
Rick and Mar's POV:
Rick kissed the top of Hope's head as she walked downstairs with her. "Yes, you are getting hungry aren't you?"
Mar turned with a bottle in her hand. "I heard her fussing, was about ready to go up and get her. I didn't know you were back from rounds."
Rick took the bottle. "Hey, enough of that fussing baby girl," he said as he gave her the bottle. "I was talking with Carl. Did Jewel take Judith with her to get some food supplies?"
"Yeah," Mar said as she sat down. "She isn't exactly happy that Summer is out with Jes and Joey. She needed to take a walk, we needed supplies."
Rick nodded as Hope reached out to try to hold the bottle. "Look at you, getting independent. You don't have to be in such a hurry, you know baby girl? Summer and Carl are both independent enough for you."
Mar laughed. "She's got you and Jewel as parent's, afraid you're going to have to deal with it."
Rick nodded. "Are you OK?"
"Yeah, I'm OK," Mar answered.
Rick looked at her. "What happened in there? Maggie said she wasn't with the two of you the whole time."
"Carol tell you anything?" Mar asked.
Rick took the empty bottle away from Hope. "You a happy girl now?" he asked as he went to burp her, kissing the top of her head. "Carol didn't say much, none of you have."
Mar sighed. "We were both worried about Maggie and the baby. We were tied up, our mouths were duct taped and we were made to sit apart. Carol started hyperventilating, Maggie and I got there attention. and the duct tape removed. They were taunting her, she was acting like when she first got here. The guy, he wanted to kill her, got into a fight with Paula, went after Maggie. Paula had Maggie taken to another room. We were able to take advantage of there absences to get free, found Maggie. Carol wanted to leave, leave them alive. She even begged Paula to leave, to walk away, so she wouldn't have to hoot her. It wasn't just once that she asked, it was a couple of times. It wasn't until Maggie and I were attacked by the other woman that she didn't hesitate. It was like she didn't want to kill anyone anymore, she even apologized to to Paula when she killed her. You know what happened after that, she started the fire, we reunited with you. Primo told us that he was Negan, but we know that he wasn't," she told him. "We know Negan is still out there. Do you think we still did the right thing?"
Rick sighed as he kissed the side of Hope's head. "I did what I had to do to try to keep everyone safe," he said as he stood up. "Let's go have some tummy time, Miss Hope," he said as he kissed Hope's tummy, getting a giggle from the four month old.
Summer, Jes and Joey' POV:
Summer stopped before entering Arlington's city limits, glancing back up Jes and Joey. "We haven't ran into one walker for over a mile."
"Even if most of them wound up in a pit near Alexandria, there should be a few scattered about," Joey said.
"You think the saviors did this?" Summer asked.
"It doesn't matter who did it, it's done," Jes answered.
"So exactly what are we doing here?" Summer questioned. "This place doesn't look like it's going to yield a lot of things to scavenge."
"What exactly are we doing here anyway, Jes?" Joey questioned. This was probably one of the first places that was gutted, someone obviously took care of the walkers. I know you said something about hiding weapons, but this is to far out for us to be able to get to them if there was a problem."
"You don't put all your eggs in one basket. We'll hide a few in the cemetery, look through the building, go over to the base, then start back to Alexandria, stopping and putting a few weapons in different spots," Jes instructed.
Summer looked at her. "I'm sorry, but did you just say we were going into the cemetery and bury weapons?"
"Yes," Jes answered. "Everything that we've done, you can't tell me that you are scared of going into a cemetery."
"Not scared, but it's a cemetery, a sacred place. And they remain dead, I don't think we should tempt fate," Summer warned her.
"Only crazy people would think to hide something in a cemetery," Jes said with a smirk. "You can stand guard," she told her as they entered the cemetery.
"Like I said before, Jes, what does that say about you if only someone crazy would bury guns in a cemetery," Joey said.
Jes just smirked a she started to hear several growling noises. Joey, Summer and Jes all quickly turned around with weapons aimed. She heard a whistle and saw a group of dogs baring teeth and growling surrounding them. The three took shots hitting a couple but not killing them.
"You're just going to tick them off if you continue to shoot them," a young man, who was wearing riot gear said. "On guard," he ordered the dogs.
"What are you doing here?"another man asked as he kept his weapon trained on her.
Jes glanced around them, counting six men, one woman and six dogs. "We were scavenging."
"In a cemetery?" the same man asked. "Lower the weapons, otherwise those dogs are going to attack and you'll wish that the blood eaters are feeding on you."
Joey and Sumer glanced at Jes who nodded. One of the men came up and took the weapons.
"Are you part of Negan's group?" Summer questioned.
"Who?" the man asked. "Let's get them inside," he ordered. "K-9, Palmer do a sweep, make sure there's no surprises waiting for us," he ordered.
"Yes sir," they both repeated, the man called K-9 whistling to the dogs them following him.
"Open up, we're coming in," the man ordered.
"You're military," Jes stated.
"I was, I take it you were too," the man guessed. He took off his helmet. "Colonial Nolan Shaw," he said as he looked at them. "This is where you introduce yourself and tell me what the hell you are doing here."
A man laughed causing Joey, Jes and Summer to look at the sound. "Well, dam, I should have known that if anyone survived, it would have been you Sanchez," a man who was well built and bald.
"You two know each other?" both Summer and Shaw asked.
"We were in officer training together," the man said. "Lt. Raphael Garza," he introduced.
Jes interrupted Joey and Summer from introducing themselves. "We were just scavenging, we didn't know anyone would be in here. I take it that you all are responsible for no walkers' being in the area," she stated.
Once again, you were scavenging in a cemetery?" Shaw asked.
"You have a lot of weapons, doesn't look like you three are living on the road, and are well fed, so why were you going into a cemetery?" man wearing the name tag Lawson questioned.
"Come on Jes, you know me, we aren't going to do anything. We just want to know if there's a danger to us," Garza said.
"There's no threat, not from us," Summer said.
"I don't know you, not anymore Garza. We aren't the same. Look, Colonial Shaw, we were just going to hide a couple weapons in the cemetery, maybe a couple in here, a couple in the fort. Then we were going to back track, putting weapons around. I figured that only a crazy person would look in a cemetery for weapons," Jes explained.
A teenager laughed. "Yeah, that pretty well describes us," the blond said.
"Cecilia, that's enough," a woman told her. "I'm Claire Gentry, that's my sisters Ciera and that's Cecilia," she introduced.
"Are you all former army?" Joey asked.
"Whose asking?" Shaw questioned.
"Joey, this is Summer, we're not military. My father was, served with Jes," he explained.
"It's all clear, no one else is outside," Palmer answered as he came in.
"Lawson and I are from the 101st, we were brought in to help with the evacuation of Washington. Garza and Harris," Shaw said as he nodded to a tall black man, "was assigned to the Fort. K-9," he started to say.
"Holden Reid," the young man interrupted.
Shaw arched an eyebrow before he continued. "K-9 was a trainer of the police dogs. Palmer and the middle Gentry were secret service, the oldest Gentry was FBI, along with Pan over there," he said nodding to a young woman with darker skin.
"Vieta," she introduced.
"K-9's older brother Colton was a police officer," Shaw continued. "And finally Malia Wolf worked as part of the medical staff in the Whitehouse."
"It's just the twelve of you?" Joey asked.
"There's a few of us scattered around. We had more, even had the Vice President, but people got scared, got bit, tried to get home. Of course it's been almost three years," Garza explained.
"We can't be the only people that has came looking around," Jes said.
"No, but you were the first to ever think about scavenging in the cemetery," Shaw answered. "Most of them wanted to take over, didn't work out well. You were smarter than that."
"You're going to have a problem if we aren't able to leave," Jes answered.
"With our weapons," Summer added.
"No one said you couldn't leave, but you said there wasn't danger from you, that means there was danger from someone else. Who is Negan?" Shaw asked.
"You don't want to know,"Summer answered.
"We do if this person is going to be coming here, kiddo," Lawson said.
"It's Summer," she hissed.
"Yeah she really doesn't like nicknames," Joey said.
