FUN FACT: Kilala is how it sounds, but in Japan and in Japanese R's are what makes the L sound. The real way it's spelled is Kirara.

"Happy Birthday!" Sango cheered as soon as InuYasha and Kagome helped her out of the well. Kirara walked closer and nuzzled Rin and gave her face a lick.

"Happy birthday Rin. You look amazing!" Myroku came closer, going in for a hug but before he could touch her Sango made sure to clear her throat and he paused, smiled differently, and hugged her in an almost Monkly way. She laughed and pulled away this time and she looked around again, hoping to see him around again. She had waited 12 years to see him again, to prove to him that she was worthy to be near him, to be apart of his family.

But he didn't even show up to greet her. After all this time... he didn't care. Rin bowed her head and let the others lead her into the clearing and to Kaede's hut. She was old 12 years ago, but she was even older now, her one eye was getting worse, and still Rin sat, listening to the old woman tell her how InuYasha and the others had done such a good job getting rid of evil demons for the years she was gone.

Not that Rin hadn't already heard of these stories when they came to visit her, but she listened out of respect while drinking tea.

"Now, Rin, there may be a shock coming your way." Sango told her and looked around, all of them seemed to be nervous to bring whatever this was up.

"What is it?"

"There has been rumors for years saying that you were in the future, that you were going to come back and rule the lands." Kagome looked at the others before looking at InuYasha.

"There has been a number of humans, men, who would like to woo you, and they seem to show up here, and other places where we are, to ask about you." Myroku added in when no one else would speak up. "They are looking to take your hand in marriage and rule all of Japan with you."

"With me?" Rin was stunned, not to mention flattered. She had been asked out a couple times gone out on dates with cute boys, but she never thought there would be anything serious in the long run.

"Yes with you. There are some villages that have concocted serious strategies to send men, we've heard that some make them fight with their bare hands until they are the only winner." Kagome told her and Rin worked her mind over, thinking about how this could get in the way.

"But they must know... I am not some demoness ready to take over Japan."

"You're not a demon at all." Shibbo called out and she looked at him and shrugged.

"I'm only human. But I am not going to take over anything, not even a village." Rin shook her head. Just thinking about that now, thinking about how there would be people who might not like what she wanted. People who would need her help from time to time, but she knew that she couldn't trust people. Not Humans. At least, not the ones besides the three in front of her.

"Men will be turning up even more now that they know you're back. Word has already spread that you're supposed to be back." InuYasha and he cleared his throat.

"Well I can set them straight, or ignore them. It's not like I want to be a prized cow and be married off to the first man who shows up." She told them all and lifted her lip in disgust.

"Does that mean I should just go home?" She looked up in surprise at a new male voice.

He was tall, tall enough to almost hit his head on the doorway. His eyes were an almost purple, his hair a deep black like InuYasha's when he turned human. His build showed off his skills before he could even turn far enough to show off his two swords.

"Yes." Rin didn't even blink, she just looked him up and down, saw his attactiveness, but put that to the back of her mind. Who was he to show up and just assume that he was going to be her knight in shinning armor, or lack thereof.

He only wore black and white robes, no armor besides the swords. His eyes didn't leave Rin, and she had to admit, the more she watched him, the more her heart started to race.

"Are you sure? Would you not like to know my name? My village? What I desire-"

"You're a man, I think I can guess what you desire." Rin stood and bowed to the others and turned to leave the hut. She walked proudly around the outside grounds, walking deeper into the forest they had emerged from and before she could relax, she felt someone watching her. She had a dagger at her hip, a good set of shoes to fight in, and she wasn't afraid to take on a man who didn't like being told no.

"You don't know me. Why not give me a chance." He called out when she turned and saw him through the trees.

"Why would I? You only want me because I have some rumor spreading across the lands about me. I am not some woman of power. I don't have anything to offer. Not to Humans." Rin told him and shook her head and turned again to leave him behind.

"And what are you going to do with yourself? Becomes a old hag?" He shouted and she heard him start running to catch up to her, she could almost feel his hand on her arm when she turned, taking her dagger, holding it to his throat, and holding him back from touching her.

"I'd rather be a hag than a trophy for some man who knows nothing about me." She pushed at him, making his throat leak a drop of blood before he backed away. "Leave me alone. Spread the word that I am not about to be a princess or a prize for men of this era." She kicked at him now, pushing him back, making him fall onto his ass. "Besides, why would I marry a man I could so easily kill."

"So you want a man to be able to kill you?" He asked as he tried to get up. It looked like he was going to lunge at her, but before she could attack, he was wrapped in a green whip like string, and he screamed out in agony.

"He was mine." She knew who had the power to do that to anyone, even a demon.

"As I could tell Rin." She didn't turn to him, she instead walked passed the man dying slowly from his wounds.

"Stop following me. You weren't around for the past 12 years, weren't here when I got back... don't watch over me. It does not please me Sesshomaru." She turned now, letting her eyes roam over him before turning away again, and walking the way she came.

She walked out of the village, smiling at the kids she saw playing in the fields and she ignored his ever constant presence behind her. It wasn't until almost sunset that she sensed another person watching her. She turned and saw that it was just two brothers on a roof watching her and talking slowly.

If she had their hearing she might be able to know what they were saying. But she didn't need demon blood to know they were talking about her.

"She has grown beautifully brother." InuYasha stood and watched Rin for a moment before shifting his eyes to him.

"She has." Sesshomaru watched his Rin walk around in the setting sunlight. She was a cute child, but 12 years has turned her into a beautiful woman... who he seemed to have scorned by sending her away for her own safety. "She doesn't want me around her." He added and watched as she turned and saw them both watching her. He wished I could have a conversation first with her, and explain everything, but she seemed to never want to talk to him about things now.

"She looked around for you when she first got here, I guess she gave up after an hour." InuYasha heard his brother blow out a breath. "You knew she would be coming back today and yet... you were late."

"I was. And it seemed to be fatal for all purposes I wished to have with her on her first day back." Sesshomaru watched her walk closer, coming back to the sanctuary of a woman's hut for the night. He knew when she ate her dinner, when she had her last cup of tea, and when she laid down to sleep. He could hear it all, he knew what she was doing the entire time, and yet he stayed there and listened to her breathe and tried to come up with a plan for the next day.
