CH 13

EmPOV

My girls were home! I was lucky. So very lucky that I got to spend eternity with my Rosie. Add my adopted siblings to the mix and I was set for life. We all got along so well and were about to be in college again. I hadn't been in a while—school wasn't always high on my priority list. Living in a dorm away from Rose also wasn't my idea of a good time. I guess I would have to get creative. Maybe Jasper and I could swap roomies unofficially. I started laughing to myself at the thought of two vampires sneaking around the dorms for a little hanky-panky when I saw the expression on Rose's face. My laughter died and I rushed to her side.

"What's going on?" I said as I scanned their faces. No one seemed to be hurt and I didn't smell blood on them. I assumed Bella had slipped but couldn't see evidence of anything going too far.

Rose and Alice looked to Bella with expectant eyes. She shifted uncomfortably, reminded me of how awkward she used to be as a human. I felt a rush of affection towards my lost little duckling of a sister. What could be making her act so weird?

"Well…spit it out. You're killin' me!"

"Uh…I think I'll let Rose fill you in," she replied. She would definitely be bright red if she could still blush.

"Nope. No way!" Rose interjected. "This is your idea! You tell him."

I smirked at Rose's response. God, she was hot when she was mad! I looked back to Bella, trying to shake the sexy images of my girl out of my head so I could focus on what was happening.

"I guess I had a revalation tonight while we were at the restaurant. I thought I saw someone that looked.." I waited as she stopped to take a deep breath. She did and looked straight at me. "Someone that looked like him. And I decided I need some answers. So I think I need to talk to him and figure out what happened so I can move past this and start living my life."

Wow. I didn't know what to say.

"Color me shocked, Bella! Way to face your problems head on!"

I could hear Rose huff in disagreement next to me.

"Come on, babe. She deserves to know what the hell Eddie was thinking." I didn't miss the slight flinch in Bella when I said his name. I mentally reminded myself she might not be there yet.

"I just don't want to see her get hurt. He doesn't even deserve to be around her, much less talk to her. After what he did, he should never be allowed to be near her again."

Alice stepped in between Bella and the rest of us. I could tell she was scheming from the slightly crazy look in her eyes. I knew better than to refute what she said next.

"I think we need to take a little break. We'll talk about this all together when Jazz gets back, okay?"

Knowing Rose might need to let off a little steam before this talk, I pulled on her hand, silently begging her to come hunt with me. She didn't need me to ask twice. She gave Bella's shoulder a slight squeeze and ran off with me towards the forest.

Whatever happened, I would protect my girls. But even I had to admit that I missed Edward. While I didn't agree with Rose's blatant aggression towards him, I was worried about what would happen to Bella, and the rest of us, if things didn't go well. Before I could get too caught up in thoughts, I shifted my focus back to my mate and decided it was time to have some fun. I gave her a devilish grin and ran faster, willing her to chase me. She didn't disappoint.
