All Nightmare Long
Chapter 489
Author's Note: I would love to get to the main event, but other people had other ideas. I swear these people are demanding. Don't they know that they are pigments of Robert Kirkman's or my imaginations.? Yeah, silly question, I know. Please review, it means a lot.
Jes POV:
Jes gathered her bag and guns, getting ready to go out and find her people.
"Hold on, Sanchez," Shaw said as he leaned against the door.
"Get the hell out of my way, Shaw," Sanchez hissed.
"You came here for help, and Garza helped you. You may not like the way he did it, but he got you out there so you wouldn't do something stupid. You're still alive, you're still breathing, and you're here to fight another day," Shaw told her. "You would have gotten yourself killed as well as Garza. Two against that many men, that would have been suicide."
"That was my decision to make, not his," Jes pointed out.
"When it comes to his life, it was his choice," Shaw told her.
"He could have left, I would have been fine by myself," Jes told him.
"If you thought that, then you wouldn't have came here to ask for help. So why don't you sit down and we'll regroup, then we'll go from there," Shaw suggested.
"I waisted enough time, time that my people may not have. You made it perfectly clear that you want nothing to do with this, so don't worry about it," Jes said as she shouldered her way past him.
Shaw grabbed her elbow. "We need to stick together," he told her.
Jes grabbed her gun and pulled it, pointing it in his face. "Let me go."
"Woah, there's no need for that," Harris said as came up.
"There's more of us then you," Lawson said.
"You fire, I fire, maybe I die, but so will this dick head," Jes said as she backed up.
"Look, do you really think that it's a good idea for you to go out there, alone, face all these men?" Harris asked.
"Yeah, well, I sure the hell am not asking any of you to help, I did that once and got knocked out for my troubles," Jes said.
"Do you have a plan?" Lawson asked.
"Yeah, take out as many of those bastards that I can, get my family back," Jes said.
"Alone?" Shaw asked. "Garza said you were a good soldier, one of the best that he knew. That you had a brain, that you planned things. You were successful in what you did because you never went in somewhere unprepared. That you never let it get personal because it interfered with your job. This isn't the person that he described."
Jes turned around and looked at him. "Yeah, well I'm not the same person I was. I didn't think I needed people, I was wrong. You didn't want to be involved, didn't want your people involved, well, I'm not asking for your help anymore," she said as she went to walk out.
"Jes, we can work this out, just wait, we'll come up with a game plan," Garza stated.
"Would you turn your back on these people? Would you let someone tell you to sit down, have a cup of coffee, while your people are in trouble?" Jes asked.
"You don't turn your back on family," Garza said.
"Exactly. You punch me again, I won't hesitate to kill you. Don't follow me," Jes warned as she walked out of the building.
Carol and Morgan POV:
Morgan saw Carol in a doorway, getting off his horse. "Woah, woah. Carol, Hey," Morgan said as he bent down.
"I told you not to come," Carol told him.
"And I'll start listening to you real soon. Hey let me see," Morgan said as he looked at the wound. "Let's get inside, alright? Easy," he said as he helped her. He led her in and over to the couch and helped lay her down. He opened his bag getting supplies. He turned his head at the sound of banging.
"It's a walker, it's hard to get. I was going to, but I was busy bleeding," Carol told him.
Morgan put bandages on it. "Pressure should help but you need stiches, antibiotics, to make sure you don't get an infection. It'll be dark in a few ours. I'll walk the camp, make sure we're safe for the night, and at dawn, we will head back, get you some help OK?"
Carol looked at him. "No."
Morgan sighed as Carol got up and stood by the window. "Just wasn't me. Rick and Jewel came looking too. Daryl, some of the others, they would've. They were gone before they even knew about you," Morgan told her.
"Gone?" Carol questioned.
"They'll be back by the time we are, probably back already.
"Do you think I'm being dramatic here? Do you really think that you could just come here and tell me to come back and that's how it'll go?" Carol asked as she looked at him.
"These people, your people, they care about you," Morgan said.
"I know they do, and I care about them. That's why I can't be there,"Carol told him.
"That's why you have to be there," Morgan told her.
"Do you really just not get it? After everything that's happened. If you care about people, there are people to protect. There are people that you will kill for. If you don't want to kill or if you can't then you have to get away from them. You do not get both. You, you should know that," Carol told him.
"No everything's about people. Everything in this life that's worth a damn," Morgan said. That's what I know. And out here on your own, you'll die," Morgan said.
"Then let me die," Carol told him.
"No, I can't do that,"Morgan said. "I told Rick and Jewel I'd bring you back, and I am going to do that."
"It's not your decision, just go," Carol ordered.
"I'm not leaving you," Morgan said.
Carol pulled a gun. "I said go," she said with a sigh as she put it down. "Please just go. If you care about anyone, M...there's a price Morgan and you're gonna pay it. I have and I can't anymore," she said as she walked out of the building.
Alexandria POV:
Axel and Gabriel walked into the armory. "We're going to need to pack up some antibiotics and bandages packed up from the infirmary and put in some of the cars," Gabriel said.
"Mar's already done it. She learned from Jewel," Axel said.
"I am glad Jewel is on our side," Gabriel said as he turned at a noise.
"Hey, is anyone there?" Enid asked as she banged on the door.
Axel looked at Gabriel as he moved the chair and opened the door "Enid? What are you doing? Are you alright?"
"Carl locked me in. I'm sure he would have done the same to Lexi if she was here. Did they leave already?" Enid asked.
"They've been gone for a half a day," Gabriel said.
Enid sighed as she started to leave the armory.
"Enid, I know you may want to go out there, but we need you here, alright? Mika and Mitch need to try to get some sleep, so we need someone taking the night shift with Hope, Judith and Jenny. Mar is on guard tonight. They've got it handled out there, we need to handle it in here. Jewel needs to know that we've got everything handled here," Axel told her.
"I should be out there with Maggie. Carl didn't have a right to decide I couldn't go," Enid said.
"You're right, he didn't. But, going out there when it's getting dark is suicidal. And, Axel is right, I promised Rick and Jewel that the girls would be my top priorities. I am asking you to stay with them tonight," Gabriel pleaded as he held out a gun.
Enid took it and nodded. "I'll put them in the same room, I'll lock the door, stay with them. I'll keep a bottle up there for Hope," she said as she walked out and went toward the house.
