All Nightmare Long

Chapter 490

Author's Note: We are getting very very close. I am not going to do the line up in this chapter because of the fact I want to do the line up in in one or two chapters and not leave it on a cliffhanger in this chapter. Season 9 looks really good, though I am sad about Rick. Please review.

RV group:

Rick and Jewel stood, both lost in thoughts as the RV was moving, a sound coming from underneath.

"What's that sound?" Sasha asked.

"Undercarriage could've caught a bullet or it could be transmission, or it could be nothing," Eugene answered.

"They were firing at our feet. They blocked the road but they weren't trying to stop us, they want us in this direction," Rick explained.

"They also want us to know that they have some of us, they are taunting us," Jewel said as she she kept her voice low.

"Barton road takes us north, but they gotto know that we want to go north," Sasha said.

"Meadows. It takes us Ease a piece but we can get back on track on Mahew," Eugene said.

"Maggie and the baby may not have the time. She needs a doctor now," Jewel insisted.

"We'll get her there," Rick assured her.

"We're down to 1/3rd of a tank, we can top off at the next stop but nothing after that," Sasha added.

"Alright," Rick said.

"We get Maggie to a doctor and then I am going after these bastards, and get our people back," Jewel said, her voice very low.

Aaron came out. "She's burning up," he told them.

Rick ran his hand through his hair and looked at the bullet holes in the RV.

"Rick," Abraham called out.

"Hell's bells, now what?" Jewel questioned. Put some wet clothes on her head, keep changing them out. I'll be right there," she told Aaron as she went up the front with Rick. She covered her mouth and counted the savior's who were on the ground and on top of trucks. "There's at least 30..." she whispered.

"Go back," Rick instructed.

"Where?"Abraham asked.

"Just back up. They aren't making a move, just back up slowly, get us out of here," Jewel said as she went back to the bedroom, leaving Rick and Abraham to look at each other. "How is she?" she questioned Aaron and Lexi.

"Not good," Aaron answered softly.

"I've got it, you two can take a break," Jewel said.

Lexi looked up as she wrung out a cloth. "I want to stay with her," she said.

"What do you think Maggie? Is Lexi a good nurse?" Jewel asked as she touched the top of Maggie's head.

"Yes, she's a good nurse," Maggie said in a shaky voice.

"Then I guess she can stay," Rick said as he sat beside her and taking her hand.

Jewel motioned Lexi over to her.

"Are we close?" Maggie questioned.

Rick looked at Jewel then at Maggie. "Yeah, we're getting there."

"Were there? I heard shots,"Maggie asked.

"The savior's but they're gone now,"Rick answered. We are gonna get you there," Rick told her.

"I know,"Maggie said.

"You're gonna be OK, the babies gonna be OK. This isn't it, there's more, there's gonna be more," Rick told her.

"I believe in you Rick," Maggie said as he rubbed her hair.

"We all believe in Rick, and each other," Lexi said as the RV stopped again.

"Abraham?" Jewel asked as she walked out and sighed. "Rick, you need to see this," she said as she saw the logs piled up. "Maggie, Lexi is going to stay wit you alright? Don't worry, we're going to get there," she said as Abraham opened the RV door.

"These tracks, they would indicate that they not only have people but big ass toys and capabilities," Eugene said as he looked at the tracks.

"What it indicates is that we are neck deep up shits creek with our mouths wide open," Abraham said.

Jewel put her hand up to her chest. "They have our people," she said in a whisper. "They have Summer," she spoke to herself as they heard a noise of something falling from the bridge. They all turned seeing the man from earlier hanging from chains, him clawing and gagging.

Aaron and Jewel both raised there guns to shoot the chains.

"Don't," Abraham said.

"I can try to break the chain," Aaron said.

"It won't work," Abraham repeated.

"We can't just let him die, we have to try!" Jewel insisted.

"I can try," Aaron repeated.

"It won't work," Abraham said.

"We need the bullets," Rick said as they watched him clawing at his neck.

Jewel looked at him and threw down the gun. "I won't use bullets," she said as she went to climb the RV.

Abraham went and grabbed her. "It's to late," he said as they all watched him stop struggling. "It wasn't Summer or Daryl or any of our family," he whispered.

"It could be," Jewel said as she pulled away from him.

They all turned as a fire started burning from the logs.

"You're treating your people good right? Like it's your last day on Earth or maybe there's? You better go, it's gonna get hot. You go get where you're going," the savior's voice said.

"Go, go, get on," Rick said.

"Find a spot to pull over, we need to figure this out," Jewel told Abraham as she went to the bedroom door. "How is she?"

"Not to good," Lexi said as she got up. "Are we going to make it to the Hilltop"

"One way or another," Jewel assured her.

"Do you believe that or are you just saying that to make me feel better?" Lexi asked.

"We'll get her to Hilltop, that I know for sure," Jewel assured her as the RV stopped. "Come on, Carl stay with Maggie, Lexi can take a break," she said.

"OK," Carl said.

Abraham came and sat down. "So what's the play?"

"They have us surrounded, they wanted us to see that man die. No, not only just die, but being tortured, struggling. They wanted us to know what they are capable of," Jewel said. "They want us to know we underestimated them."

"Why don't they just do what they are planning to do?" Lexi asked.

"They are playing mind games," Sasha said. "There are two more routes North from here,"she said.

"There probably waiting for us right now," Aaron said.

"No probably about it, they are," Jewel said.

"So they're ahead of us, probably behind us but they're not waiting on us persay. They're waiting for this rust don't know the moment to moment occupancy of said rust bucket. And the sun sets soon," Eugene said.

Abraham and Jewel exchanged looks with Rick. "One of us would have to stay and drive the RV," Jewel said.

"I will, you all get Maggie to the Hilltop," Eugene said.

"It's going to be risky," Sasha told him.

"This is a risk, all of it," Eugene said.

"You aren't doing it alone," Jewel said.

"I appreciate that you do not want me to chance it and I am touched by your worry, but Maggie is in need of you more than I am. If something does happen, you are the only one with any medical background whatsoever and your place is with Maggie. You all have roles, and this is mine," Eugene said.

"I'll be with you," Lexi said. "You drive, I'll be the eyes. It's not up for discussion, we don't do things alone in this family," she said as she looked at Sasha who nodded.
