"You really are a bastard, aren't you?" said the ogre King Yemma. The giant stood behind Vegeta, his shadow casting the prince in darkness. "Can't understand what that sweet woman ever saw in you."
"WHAT KIND OF SICK GAME ARE YOU PLAYING?" Vegeta was enraged. There was no way that spirit could have been his Bulma. She was not a "sweet woman." She had been feisty and strong-willed. It was what he had liked best about her. She may not have been physically strong but she was beautiful and intelligent. She knew she was smarter than you and she made sure everyone else knew. His Bulma would have shot back worse insults at him. They would have argued, been at each others throats until they were alone when it would all come to a passionate climax. His Bulma wouldn't have backed down... but since when had she become "his Bulma?"
"Game? What makes you think I'm playing games?" said Yemma apatheticly. He had brought out a pipe and was lazily puffing
"You know exactly what I'm talking about!" Vegeta glared at Yemma. "That spirit. There is no way that could have been the real Bulma!"
"Really? Because you knew here so well?" Yemma said with a condescending tone and doubtful expression. "Even if you think so, Bulma lived a long and difficult life. The kind of life that changes a person. So what makes you so sure that it didnt change her?"
This information troubled Vegeta. A long and difficult life. Bulma had said Trunks had destroyed the androids but their son was only an infant when Vegeta had died. How old was he when the androids were defeated? How long had the rampage lasted? How much of Bulma's world had been taken from her before it finally stopped? Is it possible that all the hardship had stolen her fire? How much had she suffered... because of his FAILURE?
"I can see you are troubled," Yemma taunted. "Tell me Vegeta, does it pain you? To have failed her? She must be so disappointed, after wanting to see you for so long only to find you're still just an arrogant, selfish-"
"SHUT THE HELL UP!" Vegeta was furious and ready to protest but the Orge King held up a hand to stop him.
King Yemma was stern."You can lie to yourself all you want, but you can't fool me." And then he smirked, "whether you admit it or not it's obvious that you have feelings for that woman." Vegeta jumpedback as if he'd been burned but said nothing and King Yemma continued. "They tell me that she built a time machine. Tried to change Earth's fate by changing the past but instead it created an alternate reality. Another course of events in an entirely separate timeline. Normally this would be a major taboo but the Kai of time let it slide. A one time pass for good intentions."
In spite of himself, Vegeta was reliefed that she wasnt in trouble and impressed by her brilliance even if it hadnt come out as she had hoped.
"Apparently under better circumstances you would have become one of Earths greatest Heros and amassed a power to rival the Gods. Far beyond whatever power you possessed in this reality. But even more unbelievable, you would have made her happy. So now I'm curious, would you like an opportunity to make her happy now?

"What do mean?" Vegeta was confused. Somewhere another version of himself had acquired an unfathomable level of power and had stayed with Bulma? Had made her happy? Somehow that was harder to believe. Vegeta knew his power could always rise. A Saiyan had no limit except perhaps time. But the thought the he and Bulma would have continued living together? raising their son together? Would they have grown old together? Vegeta was a warrior. He could never imagine "settling down." But now he was dead. So what could he do now?
"Bulma made a dying wish, to be together with everyone she loved, including you." Yemma scoffed as he said it, as if including Vegeta as a loved one was the most absurd thing he had heard in millennia. It sounded absurd to Vegeta as well. They had never said they loved each other. But what upset Vegeta was that Yemma had said 'dying' wish. Her life was over and that made him sad. He didnt understand why. He was dead too. But something about knowing she had died didnt feel right to him. And what did she want now? To spend their afterlife together? Not here in Hell obviously. So what was Yemma saying? That he could somehow join her in Heaven?

"How?"
