All Nightmare Long
Chapter 499
Author's Note: I am so looking forward to six years' time jumps (said sarcastically). I mean I just love jumping into things without any explanation. Six years and Jewel just has to live with it? Well we all know I will write those six years. Cause, well, yeah, just cause it's me. I mean you expect it don't you? Just like I have to do Summer, Beth, Maggie and Sasha arriving at the Hilltop. Four years of my life is in this story and I have no plans to ever give up on it. Got tissues? Get some. Summer's 'last' conversation with Glenn. Please review.
Summer's POV:
Summer sat in the back of the truck, her hand on the blanket that covered Glenn lowering her head. "You should be here….you should have made it….you should be for Maggie and the baby. You didn't deserve this…neither one of you did. I should have….I should have done more. We should be in Alexandria…getting ready for the fight. We could have taken him, beaten him, at Alexandria. I know if you were here, you would tell me that I shouldn't have talked to dad like that. But you aren't here, and Abraham isn't here. It feels like it's the end," she said as she wiped the tears from her eyes. "I guess it is the end, the end of the way it was. It'll never be the same. You'll never meet your baby. I don't have my brother anymore. Mitch doesn't have his Atlanta boy anymore. And, nothing is ever going bring you back. He took Uncle Daryl…and God knows what he plans to do to him. I'm going to kill Negan. For you, for Abraham, for what he did to dad and Carl, and Uncle Daryl. I might die…but I'll take him with me, if it's the last thing I do. I don't want to live in a world where he's in charge….where he can threaten Carl, Judy, Hope, Mitch, Mika, Jenny, your baby. If dad can't do it, I will. I promise you, both of you that," she said as she felt the truck stop. She didn't even know they had gotten to the Hilltop, obviously they had been closer then she thought. She jumped out of the truck and stood by it.
Jesus and Kal came up and saw the blankets. "Who?" Jesus asked.
"Abraham and Glenn…." Summer stated. "Maggie needs to get to the doctor, something's wrong with the baby…."
"You need to see him too, your hand needs to be looked at, it needs to be cleaned," Sasha told her as she helped Maggie out of the truck.
"I'm staying with them….until they are buried," Summer said.
"We burn our people…" Kal told her.
Summer looked at him. "They aren't your people, they are our people. Maggie needed to get here…and she needed to bring him here. Our people get buried. Get me a shovel, I'll dig the graves myself. But they are getting buried, right here, today."
Sasha nodded to Beth. "Take Maggie, I'll stay with her. I'll dig the graves, alright?" she said as she squeezed Summer's shoulder. As soon as they are buried, you are going to see the doctor."
"I don't want them to be alone," Summer said.
"I'll walk you over, and I'll come right back," Sasha promised her.
"We're here for Maggie," Summer told her.
"Yes, but we're here for you too. I don't want to lose you, I know Maggie and Beth don't want to lose you. We've lost enough today, alright?" Sasha asked as she hugged her. "Sit down, I'm going to do this.
"I'll help," Jesus told them.
Sasha looked at him then Summer. "No, we've got it. You can help put them in the grave."
"Was it Negan?" Kal questioned as he handed Sasha a shovel.
Summer looked at him. "It was Negan. And he took Uncle Daryl. And he did this, because I lied to him about not having family," she said as she raised her hand.
Jesus nodded. "We'll be back, I'll go check on Maggie, tell you how she is OK? I can clean the wound again. It looks like it's bleeding again."
"It never really stopped," Summer said.
Kal and Jesus walked away as Sasha dug the graves. "I wish I could say something to make this better…" Sasha said.
"You lost Abraham, Maggie lost Glenn. I should be saying something to you, but I don't know what to say. I told Abraham and Glenn, in the truck, that I was going to kill Negan. I don't care if I die, but I will kill him," Summer told her.
Sasha sighed and went over to her and grabbed her good hand. "I'm feeling the same way, but right now we need to be here for Maggie, for you. You are important to all of us,and we need you."
"It just feels like the end, you know?" Summer told her.
"It is, but it's also the beginning of something. Maggie's baby, Hope and Judy. They need you," Sasha told her.
"Maggie's baby needs Glenn. That baby is never going to have a father because of what Negan did. You lost Abraham, and all because of what started when we made a deal," Summer said as she stood up.
"Hey what are you doing?" Sasha asked.
"You got this handled?" Summer asked as she started to walk away.
"Yeah, hey where are you going?" Sasha asked again.
"You're right, I need to get this checked out," Summer said as she walked away. She had no intention on seeing the doctor, not right then. She had been out there to confront Gregory and that was exactly what she planned to do. She walked into the house and went into the door and took a breath, marching into the study without even knocking. "Gregory."
Gregory stood up. "What are you doing in here? Look at you, your filthy and bleeding. What are you even doing at Hilltop?"
"Maggie needed a doctor. She should have been here last night, but we got caught up. By Negan. He killed two of our own," Summer told him as she stood by the door. She knew that if she moved, she may kill him.
"You people said that you could handle it," Gregory said. "You need to go. I don't need him coming here and seeing you."
"We aren't going anywhere, not yet. Maggie needs to see the doctor," Summer told him. "Sit down."
"Now wait just one minuet, you can't come in here and demand," Gregory said as he started to move forward.
Summer took both hands and pushed items off the nearest surface and walked near him. "I think you might have misunderstood that as a request Dick. Sit down," she ordered. She sat on the edge of the desk. "I told you what would happen if I found out you were hiding anything from me."
"I didn't," Gregory said.
"I don't believe you. We took out the savior's that you told us about, but I have a feeling that you knew there was a whole lot more," Summer said. "He did this to me," she said as she raised her hand. "Because I lied to him. Now I wonder what he's going to do when he finds out that you sent us. I mean, he sees me here, then his outpost gets attacked, and then he finds me and knows I'm the daughter of the leaders of Alexandria. It's not going to take a whole lot to figure out that you made a deal with us. I could have told him, sung like a little birdie, but I didn't. But, he's going to be back at Alexandria in a week, plenty of time for me to get back there and sing."
"What do you want Betty?" Gregory questioned.
Summer grabbed him by the collar and pulled him forward. She wiped her bleeding hand on him. "First of all, it's Summer. And, I don't know what else I want, but I'm sure I'll think of it and when I do, I'll let you know," she said as she stood up. "You should clean up, seem to have blood on your white shirt."
