All Nightmare Long

Chapter 524

Author's Note: I went on vacation (a real one) and did not have access to a computer. Then I was playing catch up on work. The first part of this chapter takes place while Negan and Jewel are having there talk. Jes wanted in on the fun, and I can't deny Jes when she wants to protect her family. I think she's my second favorite OC right behind Jewel. Please review.

Jes and Carl's POV:

Jes glanced at Negan and Jewel walking away then cast a glance at Sylvie as she was talking to Enid. She then glanced at Carl. "Can I trust you not to do anything stupid if I go handle something?"

Carl sighed. "I did what I thought was right. You of all people know this isn't right."

"I know, but there's a right way and a wrong way of doing things, and that was the wrong way. So I ask you again, can I trust you not to do anything stupid? You stand here, you don't move, don't talk to any of them, and don't draw any unwanted attention. Got it?" Jes asked. "And before you think about doing anything stupid, remember your mom put me in charge of you so if you do something stupid while under my watch, I will kick your but up and down Alexandria. Got it?"

"Got it," Carl answered as he sighed. "The same goes for you too, you know?"

Jes smirked. "Yeah? I'd like to see you try to kick my but kid," she told him. She saw Sylvie walk away from Enid. "Enid, come here," she called to the girl. "Are you alright?"

"Yeah," Enid answered. "Jewel shouldn't have done that, he didn't do anything."

"He did. Keep an eye on this one for me," Jes instructed her as she walked away following Sylvie. She waited until she turned a corner then grabbed her from behind, forcing her to turn around.

Sylvie glanced over Jes's shoulder. "Are you insane?"

Jes shrugged. "The verdict is still out on that one. Don't worry, no one saw. Now, you are going to walk me up to my house and go into my room and we are going to have a conversation."

"Why would I do that?" Sylvie asked her.

"Because if you don't, Negan and I are going to have a conversation," Jes told her.

"Yeah? And what would that conversation be? You don't know anything that he doesn't know, or that he is going to want to hear," Sylvie told her as she turned around.

"Are you 100% sure about that? Are you willing to take that chance?" Jes baited the other woman.

Sylvie hesitated before turning around and grabbing her arm. "Come on, then, which is your house?"

"The middle one," Jes said with a smirk. "Thought you would see it my way."

"Hey Syl, everything OK?" Dwight asked as he saw her with Jes.

"Yeah, Dwight, nothing that I can't handle," Jes answered as she walked up the stairs with her. "Which is your room?" she demanded.

"The one at the end of the hall," Jes answered as she pulled her arm out of her hold. "No need for a show, now is there?" she asked as Sylvie opened the door.

"You first," Sylvie told the other woman as they walked in. "They've already been in here, got your mattress."

"I don't sleep much anyway," Jes answered. "I've slept on worse than the floor."

"You said you wanted a conversation, so go ahead," Sylvie said as she pulled out the chair and sat down.

"What are you doing here?" Jes questioned.

Sylvie laughed. "Isn't it obvious?"

Jes looked at her. "No I mean what you aredoing here? You volunteered to come to Alexandria, he wouldn't have brought you otherwise," she stated.

"Negan does what he wants, whenever he wants, to whoever he wants," Sylvie told her. "If you haven't learned that by now, you will."

Jes walked up to her, kicking the chair from under her, bending down. "You are the only one who speaks against him, and he doesn't do anything. So, he wouldn't have brought you here just for the hell of it. You aren't cut out for the shit that's happening, and you don't like it. I can see it on your face. So why are you here?"

Sylvie looked at her. "Anyone can come in that door, and if I'm on the ground with you on top of me, you'll be taken to Negan. And he won't kill you, he'll kill someone you care about, or he probably will kill Daryl to put him out of his misery and have you take his place. Do you want his death on your conscious like he has with the 2nd one? Would you be able to look at Jewel in the face and live with that?"

Jes looked at her and stood up. "You aren't leaving this room until you answer the question."

Sylvie pulled herself off the ground and walked over to the window. "I asked to come."

"Why?" Jes demanded.

"I wanted to meet Jewel," she answered.

"Why?" Jes questioned again.

"Because from what I heard about what happened out in that line up, she's not afraid to stand up for what's right," Sylvie answered.

"Neither was Rick until Negan had him almost chop off his son's arm off," Jes answered. "Jewel isn't going to do anything while Daryl is in your custody. I can assure you of that."

"You think I want this? Any of this?" Sylvie asked.

"You went back, you knelt, and you are standing by and doing nothing," Jes told her. "Funny how Dwight is part of his inner circle, but you aren't. Even Negan can tell you don't have what it takes to do the hard stuff."

"He doesn't want me to get my hands dirty, but they are, doing this, standing by, doing nothing. I came here hoping….," Sylvie started to say.

"Hoping what?" Jes asked.

"It doesn't matter, there's nothing anyone can do," Sylvie answered.

"You were hoping you could take stock of us, see how willing we would be to stand against Negan, when the time is right," Jes responded.

Sylvie looked at her. "How do you know that?"

"This isn't my first rodeo with men with a God complex," Jes answered.

"He doesn't have a God complex," Sylvie answered.

Jes laughed. "Oh they all have God complexes, even if they don't believe in the man upstairs. Every dictator is just a leader of a cult, and every person who follows a dictator is just a sheep. And it continues like that until one person stands up for what's right."

"He'd kill that person," Sylvie answered.

"Not if he doesn't find out," Jes told her. "You wouldn't have asked to come if you didn't have a thought about fighting back."

"Anyone who has a thought about it, well he or she better know for a fact that people are behind them, and right now, I don't see that," Sylvie answered.

"Some things would have to fall into place first," Jes answered. "Daryl won't ever become a savior," she told the woman.

"I know," Sylvie answered. "Negan will keep trying. Negan always tries."

"He won with you, with Dwight, with Sherry," Jes pointed out.

"He didn't win with me," Sylvie stated as she looked out the window. "Jewel just came back outside, let's go," she said as she walked out of the room.
