How did Izuku Midoriya find himself in this situation? He wasn't the type of person to go to parties, but after much pestering from his friend Mina Ashido, he eventually caved in and agreed to go to a party with her and their respective friend group.
It was a house party that Mina's boyfriend, and Izuku's friend Sero had put together. Izuku wasn't really sure why they were having a party as there was nothing to celebrate, but he came nonetheless. Truth be told, he only agreed to come because his friend/crush was going to be here.
However she was nowhere to be found as of yet, so Izuku relinquished himself into a corner and sat on his phone. He was aimlessly scrolling through social media, until he heard his name be called by his childhood friend, Katsuki Bakugou.
"Oi nerd. Hell're you sitting in this corner by yourself for? Shouldn't you be with ears?" He questioned, causing the greenettes face to flush with embarrassment. Izuku pocketed his phone and sighed, Katsuki was way too good at reading him sometimes.
"I don't think she's here… Besides it's not like I'll stick to her like glue or something, I-I'm just not a party person. You of all people should know this." Izukus stated, before being handed a red cup. He looked down at the contents of the cup suspiciously before looking back up at Katsuki with a questioning look.
"It's not alcoholic, don't worry. I know you're too much of a nerd for that kind of shit." He stated, shoving the cup into his face some more. He was gesturing that he at least take a drink so that he's not sitting here aimlessly.
"A-Ah, thanks…" He stated, before hearing someone coming down the stairs to the basement. Izuku had come down here to get away from the large group of people, there were others like him who didn't want to be here, and he was appreciative of it.
The group mainly consisted of Tsuyu, Ochako, Shouto and Momo. Though Izuku still resigned himself to a corner, and only spoke to Tsuyu once when he had originally come down there. Shouto was preoccupied with his girlfriend.
Bakugou and Izuku both glanced over at the stairs to see a small short haired girl, making her way downstairs. She had escaped the grasps of Mina and Kaminari, and made her way down to the isolationists. She was adorned in a crop top striped long sleeve shirt, and a black choker.
Her pants were ripped black jeans that showed that she was also wearing fishnets underneath, and to top it all off she was wearing a pair of purple hightops similar to that of the greenettes own red ones.
She waved to Momo and Shouto before glancing around the area, and locking eyes with Izuku Midoriya himself. She marched her way over to the boy, as Izuku and Bakugou shared a look. Moreso Bakugou smirked at Izuku as he blushed up a storm.
"Ah, Izuku! There you are! I was trying to find you, but Mina had gotten to me first…" She explained, as she stopped in front of the boy. Bakugou slapped Izuku's back and wandered off, probably to head back upstairs. "What's up with him?"
"It's Kacchan, don't worry about him." Izuku said, while smirking slightly. The two of them chuckled at that as she leaned up against the wall beside Izuku. "S-So how are you feeling? You had me worried the other day."
Kyouka sighed and leaned her head onto the boy's shoulder. Last night she had begun to freak out because of a very vivid nightmare, and immediately called Izuku. He had stayed on the phone with her for hours talking her through everything, and even threatened to go to her apartment at one point. She smiled softly at the memory.
"Much better, thanks to you." She stated before gesturing to the cup in the boy's hand. "I thought you said you didn't drink?"
"O-Oh! No, I don't! K-Kacchan just gave it to me, b-but it's not alcoholic. I-It's just juice I'm pretty sure... " He said, sniffing the cup. Sure enough the fruity aroma of Fruit punch wafted into his nostrils and he nodded. "W-Would you want me to see i-if I could get you a drink?"
"Oh, sure. You don't mind, do you?" She questioned, lifting her head off of the boy's shoulder. Izuku nodded and stood from the wall, taking a sip from his own cup.
"Yeah, no worries." He said, walking off to the stairs. Kyouka had been friends with Izuku for only a year now, and yet because of him her life had changed so much. When she came to this university she was a broken girl, and on the first day sat out in the halls of the main building balling her eyes out.
And then a voice had called out to her, a gentle and kind voice and he only uttered one phrase.
But it was enough to bring her sanctum.
"Woah! H-Hey are you okay?" A voice questioned, she peered up from her knees and noticed a pair of red hightops in front of her. Her eyes then moved higher and was met with the freckled face of a boy. She had a class with him if she remembered, his name was Izuku Midoriya.
"Wh-Why do you care." The girl questioned, hiding her face once more. Her tone was filled with malice, she had no friends here and was on her own. On top of that she was becoming increasingly overwhelmed with her new environment and was having a panic attack. Her day was going great.
She then heard ruffling beside her, causing her to look over and see the green haired boy sitting beside her. He then turned his head to face her, and gave her a gentle smile.
"What are you doing..?" She questioned as her sobs began to come to a halt. Izuku ruffled his hair, and began reaching into his backpack.
"It's no good for you to sit alone while you're like this. You seem like you could use a friend, so I'll sit here with you for as long as you need." He said, pulling out a small package of tissues. He handed them to her, which she hesitantly took from his hands.
"Why..?" She questioned, sniffling softly. Izuku gave her a confused expression and quirked one of his eyebrows.
"Everybody needs somebody in the darkest times of their lives." He stated, giving that trademark smile that she loved. She would come to find out that no one else had seen the boy smile like that, but in that moment the world stopped and the girl broke down.
"Thank you... Thank you so much."
That day she had begun to hang around the boy a lot more, and they grew closer as friends in the year that they had known one another. She'd end up telling the boy everything, and he listened to her. He never complained or thought it was too much to unload onto a person, and if anything it made him all that more protective of the girl.
Eventually she had begun to harbor feelings for the boy, and yet made no attempt to act on them. She feared for if she were to tell him the truth… Maybe he'd just never want to be her friend anymore. Now she convinced herself that it's just a delusion. It was only platonic admiration for the boy's kindness. Was that the truth? She sure hoped it was.
Izuku on the other hand purely did it out of the kindness of his heart. He hated seeing people suffering and did all that he could to help those around him, even if they refused it or didn't even know him.
He had come out of his statistics class only to come face to face with a girl sitting against the wall, balled up, and crying. He immediately felt for the girl and called out to her.; he reached out into unknown territory and saved someone. And that was the day he made a really good friend.
After that incident he had offered to take her out to get some ice cream perhaps to help cheer her up, and the two bonded. They shared a lot of common interests such as music, games, and anime. It was the first time for Kyouka that she had related so much to someone of the opposite gender, or related to anyone so much in that matter.
The girl had been quite the loner growing up, with only a few friends here and there. But Izuku was different, in her world he was like this perfect person. Someone that she could have fun with and talk to about anything that was on her mind.
Afterwards they exchanged contacts and Izuku told her that no matter what, whenever she needed to talk, he would be there to help. He would be someone she could rely on. And he kept true to that.
The two of them became inseparable, they hung out together almost everyday and spent most of their alone time hanging out in each other's apartments. Izuku would take her out, and show her around the city, and in return she'd teach him how to play guitar.
They were appreciative of one another because they always had each other's backs. They always were there for each other, and they just… Clicked. They worked well together as a shy duo.
'This party's gonna get out of hand really fast…' Izuku thought as he poured some random juice he found in Sero's fridge into a red cup. The people upstairs were starting to get drunk and rowdy, luckily he had a bit of sanctuary downstairs.
Izuku made his way back downstairs to the isolationists, and was surprised to see one of the drunk party goers downstairs, and… And flirting with Kyouka. The boy had to calm himself down, she could handle herself and if she wanted to get with someone here at the party, she could. It wasn't his business, he was just her friend.
He made his way over to the two of them, as the guy slammed his hand onto the wall beside her face. Okay, now it was time to step in. The greenette subtly shoved the guy aside, and stood in front of Kyouka. The drunkard was now dazed, and grew angry as his bottle was knocked out of his hand and onto the floor.
"Here, Kyo. Your drink." Izuku said, handing the girl a red cup. As Kyouka took the cup from his hand, Izuku was shoved to the ground by the drunk man from before. Now, it was Kyouka's turn to get aggressive.
"Hey asshole! Watch it, that's my friend!" She exclaimed, glaring at the man. The inebriated man scowled at the girl, and slammed his hand in beside her face once more.
"Who the hell you think you're talking to, broad?" The man questioned, as his alcohol scented breath made the purplette gag. He smelt like absolute shit. She then became thankful Izuku didn't drink.
"I'm talking to you, asswipe. Watch who you're messing with!" She exclaimed, as Izuku pulled himself to his feet. A crowd had begun to form around the three people present in the conflict.
"Watch your fucking mouth, bitch!" The man exclaimed winding his arm back with a bottle in hand. Time had begun to move in slow motion as his arm came down, he had been planning to assault the girl with the bottle.
Izuku's mind began to stop processing everything and he acted by pure instinct as he shoved the girl aside, and raised his arm. The glass bottle shattered on his forearm, littering cuts across it, and lodging a few shards into it. The boy yelped in pain, as Kyouka was thrown onto a nearby sofa. Shouto Todoroki, Izuku's roommate, then acted and restrained the man, bringing him to the ground.
"Fucking bastard…" The dual-haired boy exclaimed, as he held the man down. Izuku's arm had begun to bleed heavily, and he knew that he'd need to go to the hospital. He slowly reached for his pocket with his good hand and pulled out his phone, tossing it beside Shouto.
"Call 911." He said, panting as the pain began to worsen. The boy groaned, and Kyouka rushed over to his side. Why the hell did he do that!? He just got himself hurt for her!
"Izuku, that has got to be the dumbest thing you've done yet! What the hell!?" She scolded, as tears began to drip down her face. Izuku waved it off, as he noticed Shouto pick up his phone.
"Izuku, what's your passcode?" He questioned, causing the boy to freeze. He had set his passcode as the date for Kyouka's birthday, and reading it out aloud in front of her was going to be embarrassing. He then looked down at his arm and weighed his options.
"It's 812000. Kyouka's birthday." He said, as he began to feel lightheaded. Embarrassment be damned, he was not trying to die tonight because of some drunkard.
Shouto typed in the numbers and dialed 911, stepping away from the crowd so that he could ring for an ambulance. Kyouka blushed as she realized that he used her birthday as his password, why the hell would he do that? Why the hell would he protect her like that?
"Izuku, why..?" She questioned as the boy's breathing became jagged at his panicked state. He took a slow breath and then looked over at her.
"I'm not… Gonna let you… Get hurt."
Izuku woke up to blinding white lights surrounding him. He groaned as his eyes adjusted to the light, and soon the boy was able to rise up from the bed he was laying on. His right arm ached as he lifted himself up, choosing to just use his left so he didn't hurt himself more. He recalled the events of last night up until he passed out.
'Must be in the hospital.' He said, looking at his surroundings. He then noticed purple hair resting on his left side, Kyouka had apparently stayed the night. She must've been way too worried about him- Wait was that his jacket?
Izuku realized she must have removed it from the place where it was. It had been wrapped around his waist as it was autumn, and instead of letting the doctors cut it off of him she took it for herself. At least one article of his clothing survived, as the others were surely covered in blood.
Kyouka soon began to stir as she awoke from her slumber. She looked around to notice that her green-haired savior was awake! She shot up and hugged the boy as tight as possible.
"Oh thank god! Never do that again, Izuku! I was so worried…" She said, as she wrapped her arms around the boy's waist. He chuckled and patted her head, she really did worry a lot. Her cool demeanor could easily be broken down in an instant if you knew how.
"I'm fine, Kyo. Don't worry!" He said, as she pouted at the boy with tears in her eyes. She had been so afraid of losing the boy, the fear of such a thing had brought her into a panic and she also began to realize that she really couldn't live without the boy.
It was that night that he sacrificed herself that she relented to the fact that she was in fact head over heels for the boy. He held onto her fragile heart, and he didn't even know it.
"Besides, I'd rather I get hurt over you. I never want to see you hurt anymore, Kyo." The boy said, his voice laced with sincerity. She peered up at his face and her heart skipped a beat. He gave her that smile that he only showed her when they were alone, his eyes were softly staring at her and shimmered with life. His smile wasn't wide like one of mischief or when he found something funny.
It was a small smile. It was something genuine, and only she got to see it. It made her heart flutter every time. Perhaps she was foolish for trying to deny how she felt before.
"It really was a chance encounter. I just hope that guy's been dealt with." She said, releasing the boy from her embrace. She then stood and walked over to the door. "I'm gonna go get the doctor. They said you'll have some scars, but there's no permanent damage to your arm."
And with that Izuku was left alone, he looked over to his bedside table and noticed that his phone had been laid there. Shouto had probably left it there so that he could contact everyone when he was awake.
He grabbed his phone to see thousands of calls and texts from his friends and family worrying about if he was okay, he would let everyone know he was fine later on. He then looked at his bandaged arm, and clenched his fist, eliciting a groan from the boy. That's gonna suck to deal with; it was his dominant arm.
The door soon opened and in stepped Kyouka, with the doctor in tow. The doctor was a short old lady, though if you ever were to say that to her you might get hit with a cane.
"Ah, so he is awake! Well Izuku, it seems like you'll be good to go home soon. Be sure not to move that arm of yours too much or the stitches will tear. You'll have a doctor's note to miss out on classes, and I'll give you an arm sling so you're not tempted to move around too much." She informed, reading off of her clipboard. The woman then bowed and walked off.
"You're still an idiot, y'know?" Kyouka said, scolding the boy for his actions. Izuku simply smiled and nodded.
"Again, I'd rather me than you. That guy was aiming straight for your head!" He exclaimed, as the girl made her way over to his bedside. She ruffled the boy's hair and sat down in the chair she put beside his bed.
She smiled at the boy and rested her head on his hospital bed. Izuku began to stroke the girl's hair and chuckled as she nestled closer to his hand. She then turned to face the boy, and with a smile on her face she said a single thing to him.
