All Nightmare Long

Chapter 531

Author's Note: Now Mitch wants to go to the Sanctuary with Carl. He's definitely not going, and Lexi is torn. She wants to see Sasha, but she also wants to make sure her boyfriend doesn't do something idiotic, which he does well. I am leaning toward Summer only because she isn't going to leave her brother alone in the truck if she goes with Jesus. And there's no roller skating going on. Please review.

Carl, Enid and Lexi POV:

Lexi watched Enid as she put rungs in the gate so they could climb out, turning when she heard footsteps. She turned. "Carl," Lexi greeted.

"Enid, Lexi, what are you two doing?" Carl asked.

"I have to see Maggie," Enid answered.

"I need to see Sasha, and I'll check on Summer," Lexi answered.

"You're going to walk to the Hilltop? It's far," Carl tried to reason to them as Enid started to climb the gate.

"I'll be fine," Enid told him.

"She won't be alone," Lexi told him. "We'll be alright."

"I want to go by myself, but I can't stop you from seeing your sister," Enid told Lexi. "I'll be fine."

"Maybe," Carl told her.

"I'll be fine, I've got better aim then you," Enid told Carl.

Lexi shot the other teen a look. "That was uncalled for."

Enid sighed. "I didn't mean it that way."

"I'm not saving you anymore, Enid," Carl told her.

"Is that what happened in the armory? You saved me?" Enid asked. "Are you coming or not Lexi?"

"Yeah," Carl answered first.

Lexi looked at Carl then at Enid. "Being locked in that closet saved you."

"You both came back in one piece," Enid responded. "You're both still here."

"I'm not talking about that," Carl said as he looked at Lexi. "You know how dangerous it is out there, Lexi, and they just left."

Enid looked back at them. "I'm sorry you had to see it."

"I'm not," Carl said.

Lexi looked at Enid then at Carl. "I can't let her go alone," she told him.

Carl grabbed hold of her arm. "We'll take a car, follow her."

"You don't know how to drive!" Lexi reminded him.

"It can't be that hard! Come on," Carl told her as he pulled her in the car.

"Don't you think someone is going to notice us leaving Alexandria? In a car?" Lexi asked as she got in. "I'm sure someone is going to tell your parents."

"We'll be back before they get back," Carl assured her as he started the car.

"I think I'm going to stay, I mean if they have room, at Hilltop with Sasha for a while," Lexi told him.

"I'll miss you," Carl told her as he drove out of the gate.

"I'll miss you too," Lexi told him. "But it won't be for long. I'm not even sure if Sasha is going to stay all that long. Maybe Summer will come back too."

"Maybe," Carl told her.

"Why didn't you go to your parents?" Lexi asked him.

"You know why," Carl said.

"Yeah, I know why," Lexi answered. "Is that Enid?" she asked as she peered out the window seeing a walker. "It's just one, why isn't she doing anything?"

Carl didn't say anything as he pressed on the gas and hit the walker. When he saw it stand up in the rear view mirror, he put the car in reverse and killed it.

"You can't drive," Lexi told him as Enid walked over to the car.

"What are you doing here?" Enid asked.

"Felt like a drive," Carl told her.

"And I told you that you weren't going to go alone," Lexi told her as she got out of the car. "You can head back to Alexandria, not sure the car is going to make it," she told Carl as she stabbed the walker in the head that was pinned in the car.

"I'll walk with the two of you most of the way to Hilltop," Carl said.

"Then you got to walk all the way to Alexandria by yourself, that's not really safe, and without a gun," Lexi pointed out.

"I'll be fine," Carl said. "Are we going or what?" he asked as he started walking.

Enid and Lexi exchanged glances as they started walking. Enid was walking on one side of the road, Lexi in the middle and Carl was on the other side.

Enid looked at the two of them as they walked. "Not sorry you saw it?"

Carl looked at Lexi then answered. "Yeah, I watched it, both times, I didn't look away."

"I tried to close my eyes, but that made it worse, hearing the sound…then I needed to open my eyes and I needed to look," Lexi explained.

"Why?" Enid asked.

"Cause when it was happening, I knew that I needed to remember it, so when I have a chance to kill him, I wouldn't have a choice," Carl answered.

"I think I'd kill him too," Enid said. "It's messed up but that's how it is," she told the two other teens. "You do things for the ones you love. Loved."

Lexi stayed quiet as Carl spoke. "It's not for them. I'm sorry I locked you in the armory."

"I didn't need to see it," Enid answered.

"I want to see Negan dead as anyone else," Lexi started to say.

"But?" Carl asked.

"But I don't want any more of us to die," Lexi said as she walked ahead of them.

"This is when you go talk to her," Enid told him.

Carl sighed and ran to catch up. "Lex, wait," he said as she continued to walk.

"You don't want to go back to Alexandria, because you want to take down Negan. Don't even try to deny it, Carl. What is your plan? How do you plan to kill him? He took all the guns. And he's never alone. What do you think is going to happen if you get killed? Have you even gave one thought about how it would affect your parents? Summer? Your sisters? Me? Killing Negan isn't going to get rid of his men, someone else will just take over. We need to fight but we need to have a plan, a plan that isn't going to get us killed," Lexi informed him. She stopped and let Enid catch up to them when they were able to see Hilltop.

"I don't think Negan's here, I don't see that black truck," Carl said.

Enid looked at him. "You weren't taking a drive, were you? Did you know about this?" she asked as she looked at the other girl.

"Just figured it out. I was actually catching up to you," Lexi explained as she looked out to see the crowd of saviors.

"I can't let them get away with this," Carl told the two teens.

"You're letting anger speak for you," Lexi informed him.

"You're not angry?" Carl questioned.

"Of course I am, but I know that doing this will get someone killed, and it may not be Negan," Lexi informed him.

"Come with me," Carl said as he looked at Enid. "I mean you want them dead too."

"Carl, if you have a death wish, that's on you, don't try to bring Enid with you," Lexi warned.

"You said it yourself, it would be for us, not for Abraham, not for Glenn, not for Maggie. You're doing it for you. And in the process you're hurting Lexi. Say this all goes right, and you do it, how do you get away?" Enid asked.

"It doesn't matter," Carl said.

"It matters to me!" Lexi told him. "I don't want you to die."

Enid stepped away to give them space.

Carl kissed Lexi. "I'll go home."

"No you won't," Lexi told him.

"No I won't," Carl agreed.

"I don't want you go but I know you will, no matter what we say. Be careful," Lexi said as she kissed him again before walking over to Enid.

"They'll see you," Carl told them.

"No they won't," Enid told him as she walked with Lexi. "He'll be OK."

"Hopefully," Lexi answered.
