Edward returns and my accident.

Elena's POV: (Opening thoughts)

Oh lovely... Bella is unhappy at the weather and this is a little more rain then I was hoping for. Hopefully we do okay at school and if I have any luck Edward Cullen will still not be there.

Bella and I are heading out the door to leave for school. Charlie is, for some reason is just pulling into the drive,

Where would he be going with the truck?

We walk down the steps but we do not get very far before Bella slips on ice and hits the ground. Unfortunately she takes me down with her.

"Sorry," she tells me.

I nod as Charlie runs over to help us. He first pulls Bella and then I to our feet. I bat down my trousers and glare a little at my twin.Did she have to pull me down as well?

"You both all right?" Charlie asks fighting back a chuckle.

"We're good," Bella says still looking guilty that I had pulled him down with me. "Ice doesn't really help the uncoordinated."

"Or her twin!" I exclaim but this time I am joking and we all chuckle.

"Yeah," Charlie agrees as we head towards the truck where Bella is going to be in the drivers seat today. "That's why I had some new tires put on the truck. Old ones were getting pretty bald."

I smile at him.Now I know what he was doing driving the truck!

"Thanks," I say really grateful.If Bella's driving the newer the tires the better.

"Well I'll probably be late for dinner," he informs us. "I got to head down to Mason County. Security guard at the Grisham Mill got killed by some sort of animal!"

"An animal?" Bella questions as Charlie heads towards his own police cruiser.

He opens the door to his cruiser. "You're not in Phoenix anymore girls. Anyway I figured I'd lend a hand.

"Be careful," Bella tells him and I nod.

"Always am," he tells us.

I chuckle and smile at my twin.Maybe it's not so bad living with Charlie. I mean Forks isn't too bad.

"And thanks for the tires," I tell him.

"Yeah," he says before getting into his car.

Bella and I climb into the truck and she heads to the school.

As I head towards lab I see everyone running from the rain. Eric met me outside of lab and begins to speak to me.

"Prom is more of a chick thing," he tells me and I am barely listening.I am not a big fan of prom. One thing Bella and I have in common."But I gotta do a cover for it on the paper anyway, and they need a guy to help choose the music, so I need your playlist. Hey, listen I was wondering did you have a date to-"

Before he gets to finish Mike gets in between us and begins to speak to me as he shakes his cap all over me. "What's up Arizona? Huh? How you like the rain girl? Better get used to it girl."

I chuckle a little.So glad he interrupted Eric as I do not want to go to prom. I can but do not dance.

"Yeah Mike," Eric begins, clearly angry that he was interrupted. "You're real cute man."

As they continue to talk I walk forwards but hesitate a little when I glance at my desk.Oh look who's back.

Edward is sat at our desk and once again before even looking up he seems to know that I am in the room. He does not seem as hostile as before though.

I do not glance at him as I walk, confidently...though I do not feel it...up to my desk. I glance a little at him as I sit down next to him. He does not look like he hates me... for now.

"Hello," a voice says and I turn in shock as I realize that it was Edward who spoke to me.He has a voice and not just a death glare. "I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to introduce myself last week. I'm Edward Cullen. You're Elena."

I am sure he's eyes have changed color.

"Um... yes..." I begin trying to remember how to swallow as my voice sounds hoarse.

The teacher begins to speak. "Onion root tip cells, that's what's on your slides right now. Okay? So seperate and label them into the phases of mitosis, and the first partners who get it right are gonna win... the golden onion. All right good."

Everyone boos but I barely pay attention as Edward pushes the telescope towards me.

"Ladies first," he says wanting me to look into the telescope first.

I put my hand to my head as I feel a headache coming on, Then I grab the telescope but do not look into it at first. "You were gone."

"Yeah," he says as I look into the telescope. "I was out of town for a few days. Personal reasons."

"Prophase," I tell him whats in the first slide.I have done a similar lab to this in Phoenix so I know what I am looking for.I push the telescope away from myself,

"Do you mind if I look?" He asks and I smirk.He thinks I'm wrong.

I nod and the telescope makes a nerve racking sound as he pulls it along the table towards him. He glances into it before he makes the same decision I did.

"It's Prophase," he says writing it on the sheet.

I nod. "Like I said."

After he's finished writing on the paper he smiles up at me.

"So are you enjoying the weather?" He asks me and I scoff causing a look of confusion appears on his face. "What?"

Is he serious.

"You're asking me about the weather?" I say to him.

"Yeah, I..." he begins but then he pauses. "I guess I am."

I shake my head a little. "Well I don't mind a little bit of rain but this is too much in my opinion. My twin Bella doesn't like any wet thing."

He puts the next slide in. He chuckles as he does this.

Something funny?"What?"

"Nothing?" he says and I raise an eyebrow at him as he chuckles again and then puts his eye to the telescope. "It's Anaphase."

Need to make sure that he's right.

"You mind if I check?" I ask him not wanting him to have it wrong.

"Sure," he says but he sounds amused.

I pull the telescope towards me and look into it.Damn.

"Anophase," I agree.

"Like I said," he repeats my words and then he chuckles as he writes it down on the paper. "If you hate the cold and the rain so much, why'd you move to the wettest place in the continental US?"

I wonder why he is so interested in my life all of a sudden when last week he looked like he wanted to end it.

"Um..." I begin wondering how to explain. "It's complicated."

"I'm sure I can keep up," he told me and I take a breathe.

"Uh,.." I say again still trying to find the right words. "Mine and Bella's mumremarried and um..."

"So you both don't like the guy or," he makes the wrong assumptions.

I guess it's easy to think that. "Not that's not... um... Phil's really nice."

He seems confused as he pulls the telescope back towards himself. He glances at the next slide.

"It's Metaphase," he says pushing it away but before he rights it down he looks at me. "You want to check?"

I shake my head.What's the point?

"I believe you," I tell him.

I meet Bella outside but she is shocked when she sees me walking with Edward.

"Um..." she begins glaring a little at him. "Hi I'm Bella."

Edward nods and holds his hand out to her. "Edward Cullen. I was just about to ask your sister a question you might be able to explain as well."

"Go ahead," she says and she looks at me and I nod to let her know everything is all right.

"Why didn't you move with your mother and Phil?" He asks us both.

I share a look with Bella. We don't usually tell people but I feel like I can tell him. Bella didn't look happy that we had discussed this but she just shrugs.

"Well Phil's a minor league baseball player," she tells him and he nods. "And he uh travels a lot."

"Our mum stayed home with us," I continue the explanation. "But we knew it made her unhappy. So the two of us decided to come and stay with our dad for a while."

"And now you two are unhappy?" He asks us mainly looking at me but he keeps glancing at Bella.

"No," I say but Bella looks a little like she is.

"I'm sorry," He says to both of us and I smile. "I'm just... I'm just trying to figure you both out. You two are very difficult for me to read."

I smile.Funny how my mum says I wear my emotions on my face and my heart on my sleeve.His eyes are still bugging me.

"Hey do you wear contacts?" I ask and Bella glances at his eyes confused.

"No," he informs me.weird.

"Your eyes were black last time I seen you," I point out and Bella looks at me like I am nuts. "And now they're like golden brown."

"Yeah I know," he says but he sounds like he's hiding something. "It's the... it's the fluorescents. Uh..."

Without another word he walks away.

"That is one weird guy," she points out to me. "But I think he likes you."

I nudge her. "Dream on... do you think so?"

She places her arm around my shoulders and chuckles as we head out of the school.

Bella and I head towards our car. It is still icy and Bella stops to talk to Jessica and Angela. I decide to head into the car and wait as it's too cold.

I place my bag on the hood as I need to get my keys out of the car.

I glance around as I feel a pair of eyes on me. Edward is stood with his family at his car. They are stood a few rows away.

I hear the screech of some tires. A truck is coming at me. I feel a shimmer in the air as the car swings at me, but before it hits me a sort of invisible barrier crashes with it. I don't know what that was but before I can think about it the back end of the truck is swinging around and a change in the air makes me feel like this time the truck is not gonna miss me.

But this time before it hits me a body is suddenly there and I am on the ground and my head hits the ice. I look up to see Edward next to me with his hand imprinted into the truck that was gonna hit me. I also see a big dash of paint missing from where it hit the invisible force.

I gasp and try to sit up and Edward helps me. Though he is staring at me and as the pain starts to hit I also realise something else.WHERE THE HECK DID HE COME FROM?

Edward gets back to his feet, still staring at me. He seems a little confused.

As I put my hand to my head, which is swollen, Bella is suddenly there.

"ELENA!" She exclaims clearly worried. "Are you okay?"

"Dial 911!" I hear Angela say as she appears next to me.

I hear someone say something as Mike, Angela and Bella pull me to my feet.

"Elena," Tyler, who was the driver of the vehicle, sticks his head out of the window and I see his head is bleeding. "I am so sorry. I panicked."

I barely heard anyone till the ambulance got here. Then I was forced to ride to the hospital. At least my twin was there to keep me company.

Okay I am changing it a bit. Elena is a physical shield but also can block mind reading. Bella has the mental shield. They're gifts are similar because they are twins.
