All Nightmare Long
Chapter 533
Author's Note: So I'm going to leave Jesus getting into Negan's truck until I'm ready to do the episode with Carl. I may go check in on Rick and Jewel before then. And I need to do the episode with Tara (adding Quinn) in. But Jes did tell Joey that she was going to visit the Arlington people to tell them about Negan and try to get them ready to fight. So we're checking in. Please review.
Jes POV:
Jes covered the car the best she could with branches and rocks, and put her bag on her back walking out into the open. She had hated herself that she didn't follow Negan's people that she didn't try to break Daryl free. But, without guns and by herself, she would have been captured or killed. And the soldier in her knew that. But the person who dared to start letting people in, who loved these people as a family, she wanted to save Daryl, she wanted to erase the pain on Mitch's face seeing his adoptive father being dragged around like a slave, but she knew she wasn't read, that they weren't ready. She just hoped Rick would wake up sooner than later to the fact that they had to fight. Getting Hilltop and Arlington, well when Rick knew about the group, on their side would make numbers stronger. She stopped and reached for the gun that wasn't on her hip and turned to be faced with a bow and arrow in her face. "Great, another Robin Hood running around," she said sarcastically. "Look I've had a really bad day, and I feel like hitting someone, so if you don't get that thing out of my face, it may be you."
"Raph and Cece came back, they said you wouldn't let them in," Thor told her.
"Did they tell you that the big bad wolf was literally approaching the gate with a lot of little wolf wanabe's? They would have both been in Negan's cross hairs, and if he had taken interest in one of them? He would have taken them and there would have been nothing we could have done, and I would have been coming back here with maybe one or neither of them and then you'd have a reason to shoot me. I told Garza that I'd come here and report any information when they left, and so here I am. Now, it's getting dark, and I really don't feel like being out here without a gun. And, I'd rather not have to repeat my story to each and every one of you, so I'm just going to go inside," Jes said as she moved passed him.
"Stop, or I'll put an arrow in you," Thorn said. "Shaw doesn't want you here."
Jes gave a huff as she kept walking. "If you were going to shoot, you would have already done it, I mean who the hell gives warnings now a days? And, you know if you shot me, Garza would be very upset, since he seems to carry a torch still. So, you know that would end very badly for you. If you haven't figured it out yet, I really couldn't care less if Shaw wants me here or not. You guys have some of my guns, the only guns that Negan didn't take, so I'm doing a check, making sure that you all aren't using them and the bullets. You don't mind going first do you? I wouldn't want one of your attack dogs to pounce on me," she said as she stepped back letting him get in front of her.
Thor looked at her before opening the door slightly to the building. "It's me, and I brought company," he said as he held the door open.
Jes came in. "I'm just here to check on my guns and give you all the run down on the big bad wolf," she said as she glanced at Garza.
"Your guns? The ones you left here, and in the cemetery," Shaw said as he crossed his arms.
"Yes, my guns," Jes said as she walked closer to him.
"He dug the guns up," Cece said as she sat up from the couch reading her book.
"Cece," Claire said in a warning voice.
Jes slowly turned and looked at him before charging and grabbing him by the neck and pushing him against the wall. "I've about had enough of pompus dick's taking things that don't belong to me."
"Get off of me," Shaw warned as he grabbed her arm.
"Come on get off of him, he'll give you the guns back," Harris told her.
Garza took three big steps and pulled Jes away by her waist. "You need to calm down. Shaw moved the guns, he found it sacrilegious for someone to bury guns in Arlington, he's old school. Let's go talk, get you calmed down. He's not the enemy."
"Seems that way to me," Jes hissed in Shaw's direction.
"You came to debrief us right?" Claire asked trying to diffuse the situation. "So we can try and prepare and stay off of this Regan's radar?"
"Negan, his name is Negan," Jes told her. "Yeah, but I don't think anyone is going to say off his radar long, he has a whole shit load of people. Must have been sixty, seventy that showed up in Alexandria today, more than that was there that night they were holding my people."
"Had to be close to one hundred, maybe more, from what I saw before I knocked this one out," Garza told them, as he motioned to Jes.
"So you spend the night here, calm down, then tomorrow we all sit down over breakfast and you tell us what we need to know," Claire offered.
"She just attacked me, she's not spending the night," Shaw exclaimed.
"We're not sending her out there in the middle of the night," Thorn responded. "It's not safe, you know that," the younger man looked at their leader.
"I'll take responsibility. We need to know what she knows, that's why CeCe and I was heading to her home, to gain Intel," Garza reminded him.
"Fine," Shaw told them. "Anything happens it's on you Garza."
"Understood," Garza said as he led Jes upstairs to a room. "We don't have many extra rooms, so you're gonna have to bunk with me. I'll sleep of the floor."
"Not like we haven't shared a bed before," Jes said as she crossed her arms.
"Yeah, but if I remember correctly, we never slept much," Garza joked with her. "It was bad huh?" he asked as he nodded toward the bed so she could sit down.
"I wanted to rip that barbed wired bat out of his hands and kill him with it," Jes answered as she sat down on the bed.
"You really do care about these people, huh?" Garza asked.
"That's what I've been saying," Jes said as she turned and looked at him. "I'm thinking that I'm too close."
"You could leave, stay here. Shaw would accept you, eventually," Garza said as he watched for her reaction.
Jes sighed. "I can't do that."
Garza grinned. "Thought you'd say that. So what's the plan?"
Jes huffed. "Don't have one, not yet. Man took all our guns, well the ones that he knew about. That's why I hid those. Rick isn't ready to fight, not now. What happened out in that field, it took its toll on him, and until he's ready to fight, there's nothing I can do. That's up to Jewel."
"His wife?" Garza asked.
"Yeah, Summer's mother. She'll set him straight and when she does and he's ready to fight, he'll need everyone to fight. We aren't going to be able to do it alone," Jes said.
"It's going to take a lot to convince Shaw, some of the other's," Garza told her. "Shaw would be more willing to help if you were moreā¦." He said as he hesitated.
"You mean if I kissed his ass? That's not happening. The world isn't the same and I'm done taking orders," Jes said.
Garza laughed as he leaned over and kissed her.
"Yeah, that aint happening, Garza," Jes told him.
Garza laughed. "Well you can't blame a guy for trying," he said with a laugh.
