Elena's POV: (Opening thoughts)
After the day I had it's gonna feel weird going back to a normal life and having a normal dinner with my twin and Charlie... but it is what it is.
I arrive at the restaurant that Bella, Charlie and I go to once a week. Edward had dropped me off around the corner as Bella had the truck today. It's not here so is she not coming.
I also see that Mike Newton is in the parking lot. He approaches me as soon as he spots me.
"Arizona 2," he says and I shake my head. "Yo, what's happening?"
"Hi Mike," I tell him and he follows me as I head towards the restaurant.
"So you and Cullen, huh?" He asks and I don't answer so he continues. "That's,,, I don't like it. I mean, I don't know, he just looks at you like you're something to eat."
You really have no clue how right you are. I do not say anything as I carry on into the restaurant.
"Hey," I say to my dad as I enter the restaurant and head over to our usual table and Bella is not there as I thought. "Sorry I'm late. Biology project. Where's Bella?"
"She's round Jake's," he tells me and I smirk. I can see Bella and Jake ending up together at this rate. "She says if she don't make it tonight then she'll have lunch with us tomorrow. Anyway... I ordered you the spinach salad. I hope that's okay."
I nod and smirk as the waitress places a plate down in front of us and I see he has his usual steak and chips. "You should order one for yourself next time. Cut back on the steak. You have two daughters who order salads and you always order steak."
"Hey," he says in a joke tone. "I'm as healthy as a horse."
He places his paper down and we both prepare to dig in but the waitress speaks up to my dad.
"So chief," she begins and their is a upset tone in her voice. "Boys want to know, did you find anything down by queets river today?"
Charlie and I see people looking at him and I look down knowing what happened to Waylon. Charlie sighs.
"Yeah we found a bare human footprint," he says and I look down. He does not want to know what that belongs to. "But it looks like whoever that is, is headed East, so Kitsap county Sheriff is gonna take over from here."
"Okay," she says.
"Okay?" Charlie asks.
"I just hope they catch him fast," she says before smiling at us both and walking away.
They guys behind her all stare at us. They are clearly effected by what Charlie said.
I can hear something going on behind me but I do not look around until Charlie speaks up to me. "Looks like your friends are flagging you!"
I look around and then Gasp at Charlie as Mike and his friends were waving their butts in the window behind me. Charlie is clearly not impressed.
"It's okay if you wanna go join them," he says but I just send him a look. "I'm just gonna turn in early anyway."
Yeah my day's been long enough.
"Yeah me too," I tell him.
"Elena," Charlie turns to me placing his fork down. "It's friday night. Bella's out you should go out too. Looks like the Newton boy's got a big smile for you."
I eat but nod at him. "Yeah he's a good buddy."
Charlie sighs.
"What about any of these other yahoos in town?" He asks. Oh no not this conversation. "Anybody interest you."
"Dad we gonna talk about boys?" I ask him trying to avoid answering.
He chuckles.
"Yeah I guess not," he replies and I feel relief. "I just feel like I leave you alone too much. Like Bella you should be around other people."
"I don't really mind being alone," I tell him and then I look down. "I guess I'm like my dad in that way. "
Bella's still out so I am talking to mum alone. I am laying down on my bed.
"So how's all the baseball stuff going?" I ask her not that curious but trying to make conversation.
"Oh Phil's working so hard," she tells him. "You know. Spring training. We're looking for a house to rent in case things become more permanent. You'd like Jacksonville baby and so would Bella."
"Yeah?" I ask before telling her the truth. "We both really like Forks."
"What?" mum says sounding shocked as usually I hate Forks.
"Forks is growing on us," I tell her. "And on Bella."
"Could a pair of guys have something to do with that?" She asks knowing both of us all too well.
"Yeah for me and maybe for Bella," I tell him.
"I knew it tell me all about them," she says to me before she begins to ask questions. "Tell me everything. What is he? Jock? Indie? I bet he's smart, is he smart?"
I suddenly turn around as a gust of wind alerts me and I see Edward. He had came in through the window.
"Mom can I talk to you later?" I ask her.
"Come on we gotta talk boys and don't worry I'll be ringing Bella," she says and I roll my eyes. "Are you both being safe?"
I don't answer as I hang up and place my phone down on my dresser. I move down the bed and speak to him as he comes towards me. "How did you get in here?"
He smirks at me.
"The window," he tells me.
"Do you do that a lot?" I ask. Maybe the dream I had a few days after I met him was not actually a dream,
"Well just the last couple of months," he tells me and I now know that my suspicions are correct. "I like watching you sleep. It's uh... it's kind of fascinating to me."
Yep that's not creepy at all. I chuckle.
"Um... I always want to try one thing," he tells me and I wonder what he wants but I begin to feel nervous as he leans towards me. "Just stay very still."
The closer he gets I am sure even without vamp hearing he would be able to hear my heart pounding against my chest. I go to move as well but he stops me.
"Don't move," he tells me. I have never been more still in my life.
He is now so close that our noses are touching. I am holding my breath nearly I am that nervous. Don't want to make things more complicated then they need to be.
I breathe heavily as mine and his eyes are closed. I am waiting for him to make a move. Finally our lips meet and I am in shock at how it feels so natural. He pulls away and after a second I kiss him this time. I then climb onto his knee as we continue to kiss.
After a second we pull away and I lay on the bed and he is on top of me kissing me again.
But eventually things get too heated and he pulls away and slams himself into the wall and calls out. "Stop it."
I just sit up and wait as he keeps his body pinned against the wall.
"I'm sorry," I tell him feeling guilty for making him uncomfortable.
"I'm stronger then I thought," he says.
I blink multiple times. "Wish I could say the same."
He turns away from me.
"I can't ever lose control with you," he states and I can see the anguish in his face even as he is faced away from me.
He goes to leave.
"Don't go," I tell him not wanting him to leave.
He turns back towards me and I can still see he is upset.
We spend the night talking about everything. I ask him a little more about himself and his family... he asks me more about Bella and Charlie and Renee and even Phil. Eventually I lie down and go to go to sleep... when there is a knock on my door.
"Come in," I say after Edward had disappeared.
"Hey," Bella says entering the room and she looks like she is flustered. "Did you have to tell mum?"
I can tell that she is more amused then angry.
"Sorry about that," I tell her and she nods before I pat my bed and she sits down. "How's everything going with Jacob?"
"It's great," she says and then she smiles wider. "It's a good thing I brought a dress the other week!"
I get the hint and gasp. "You and Jake?"
"Yep," she says.
"Prom?" I continue with the questions.
"Yep," she agrees again. "I think something good might be happening. So I am glad you told mum... there's something else..."
I wait for her to go on and when she doesn't I egg her on with. "What?"
"I seen Damon in town today," she tells me slowly.
I look down and sigh. I never wanted to hear those words.
"Where? La Push?" I ask her and she nods.
"I know that he hurt you but things seem to be going well with Edward," she tells me and I nod. "Good. So when are we telling dad?"
"You have nothing to worry about," I point out poking her and she taps my hand. "He sees Jake as family... I on the other hand have a lot to worry about. He's never even met Edward I don't think."
She smiles.
"Yeah well anyway," she says getting to her feet. "I'll see you in the morning."
I nod and she leaves the room. When I hear her bedroom door close I whisper into the darkness.
"Edward?" I question.
Before I take a breath Edward is back besides me on the bed. "Who's Damon?"
I shake my head.
"I'm not ready to tell you about him yet," I tell him and he nods.
We go back into silence and before I know it I am asleep again.
