Captain Picard think that Katy is not smart, since she attempt to use a Fire type to battle a Water type.
"You cannot truly belive that a Fire-based Pokémon can win fairly in battle with a Water-based one." says Captain Picard.
"Dad has taught me that sometimes you can win, even from a disadvantage in types." says Katy.

"Talonflame, Brave Bird, now!" says Katy.

He ends up being wrong though.
Brave Bird becomes a critical hit and knocks out Gyarados in one hit, despite the type disadvantage and the fact that Gyarados also is higher level than Talonflame.
"I must say that was quite impressionnant." says Captain Picard.
He call back Gyarados and switch to his shiny Starmie.
Starmie use Psychic, doing a solid amount of damage to Talonflame.
"No! Talonflame, n'abandonne pas..." says Katy.
Talonflame try its best to stay strong for Katy.
"Yay! Talonflame, Brave Bird." says Katy.
Talonflame reduce Starmie's HP down to half, but Talonflame also takes recoil damage.
"Did you forget that a Pokémon that use the move Brave Bird takes damage itself...?" says Captain Picard.
"Of course not." says Katy.
"You can never win." says Captain Picard.
"Pas vrai. Papa m'a appris à ne jamais abandonner et à toujours rester fort." says Katy.
"Starmie, knock out the Talonflame." says Captain Picard.
"No! Talonflame, use Solar Beam.
Talanflame's Solar Beam knocks out Starmie.
"Que je ne m'attendais pas, that's for sure." says Captain Picard.
"Really? Je suis formidable." says Katy.
"Hmm. Peut-être que oui, mais je vais mieux." says Captain Picard.
42 minutes later, Katy has won.

Aaron call out his Scizor.

The Shadow Ball does a lot of damage to Scizor.
