All Nightmare Long

Chapter 546

Author's Note: This time of year is always hectic at work and I am exhausted by the end of the day. So I'm going to try to squeeze in a chapter this week. Please review, I need to know if anyone is reading this. Please review.

Tara and Quinn's POV:

Tara stopped running and put her hands on her knees. "You OK?" she asked Quinn.

"Yeah, I think so. You?" Quinn asked.

"Yeah," Tara answered.

"Stop!" Cyndie ordered.

Tara looked back as Quinn stood up. "You're not going to shoot us."

"Why? Because I saved you?" Cyndie asked.

"You keep on saving us," Quinn stated.

"Three times now," Tara added. "You're not going to shoot us."

Cyndie put down her gun and looked at them. "You have to swear that you'll never come back. That you'll never tell anyone about us. Not even your own people," she informed them.

"Why would I come back? Why would Quinn come back? Why would we tell anyone about this place?" Tara asked.

"Because maybe you could get something out of it," Cyndie told them. "Anything. Why would we kill two people who just came near us? Why did you kill all those people at the satellite station? Because you all thought you had too," she told them. "But none of you had too, you just did. Nobody's evil. They just decide to forget who they are. You have to swear," she told them.

"The people who killed all your men, your mother, they were evil. And the people we killed, maybe they were some of them. And if they were, then I'm glad that we killed them, for your sake, for your brother's sake, for your sister's husband sake," Quinn told her.

Tara nodded. "Some people are evil, Cyndie, I've seen it. That's why we need to get back," she told her.

"You have to swear," Cyndie repeated.

Tara and Quinn looked at each other as they turned around. "I swear," Tara answered.

Quinn nodded. "I promise," she told her.

Cyndie nodded as she took off her backpack. "Here food and water," she said handing Tara the backpack.

"You knew your grandmother wasn't going to let us go," Quinn stated.

"I knew last night, we all did. That's why Billie wasn't there today, she couldn't look the two of you in the eyes and know what was going to happen. Come on, I'll take you to the bridge, try not to fall off this time," Cyndie said.

"To be fair, I jumped in to save her," Quinn said as they walked away.

Father Gabrielle and Joey's POV:

Joey sat in the back seat of the car as Spencer drove. He sat up when he heard Spenser starting talking.

"Is hating someone a sin?" Spencer asked Father Gabrielle.

"No, well not necessarily. Thoughts are just thoughts, it's our actions that matter in the end," Gabrielle said as he glanced over his shoulder to Joey.

"I hate Rick," Spencer said after a moment of silence. "I hate Jewel, but I really hate Rick. He was a cop, fine. He shouldn't be in charge," he pointed out.

Joey leaned between the seats and gave out a laugh. "Let me guess, you think you should be?"

Spencer glanced at him. "My mother, she served in Congress, she led people, she brought up the good in people."

"Rick led a whole group from Atlanta to here, with Jewel by his side," Joey pointed out.

"Rick brought out the good in me," Gabrielle stated.

Spenser looked at Gabrielle. "How? By bullying you?"

Joey patted Gabrielle on the shoulder. "He just needed a good push to become the man he really was."

Gabrielle nodded and gave a small laugh. "A little, and Joey's right, I did need a push. But mostly by inspiring me, all of his group. He didn't just keep people alive, he brought us all together. Him and Jewel. They made the group a family, and they accepted me into it. He's not perfect, but he's a man who finds his way."

"He didn't keep everyone alive, Gabrielle. My mother, my father, my brother!" Spencer exclaimed.

"Hey, your mother got bit, and your brother was an idiot who got one of ours killed, and your father, well he wouldn't be dead if you all had taken care of the problem with Pete way before we showed up," Joey stated.

"You're just saying that because you're sleeping with his daughter," Spencer hissed at him.

Gabrielle shook his head at Joey before he could speak up. "It was not Rick's fault, and what Joey says is true."

"He got here, they died," Spencer argued.

"Or maybe other people didn't die because he got here," Gabrielle rebutted him.

"Or maybe we shouldn't have attacked that outpost!" Spencer yelled.

"Hey that had nothing to do with your family's death, alright!" Joey yelled.

""We don't know!" Gabrielle yelled at him at the same time. "We can't, we don't get too," Gabrielle said. "We're here now and we can look to the future."

"What future?" Spencer asked. "There's no future with him in charge."

"You aren't going to have a future if you keep talking," Joey warned. "Your sister is helping Jewel and Rick, they wanted her there."

Spencer let out a laugh. "Yeah my dear older sister drank the Kool Aid, bought into the whole Rick Grimes is savior. She let Jewel whisper in her ear and bought it hook line and sinker," he said as he continued to drive. "The thing that I can't stop thinking is maybe that the only good thing that can happen for us now, is he never makes it back. Jewel wouldn't be so bad if she was alone, without him," he said.

Joey looked at Gabrielle before looking at Spencer. "You better run when we get out of this car," he hissed.

Gabrielle looked at Spencer. "Stop the car." Spencer looked at him a few times before doing it. Gabrielle looked at Spencer. "What you're saying, doesn't make you a sinner, but it does make you a tremendous shit, but just for now."

Joey glanced at Gabrielle, impressed. "And incredibly stupid if you think any of us would follow you."

Gabrielle nodded. "It doesn't have to be terminal. I'm gonna go back, and Joey is going to come with me. If I left the two of you alone, well you would be the one not coming back," he said as he opened the car door getting out.

"Good luck out there, all one, with the walkers hiding in every corner, and not to mention the savior's. Who knows how many Negan left behind? But, I'm sure you got it right? I mean, it's not like you're a coward or anything," Joey said as he patted Spencer's shoulder. "Good luck pal," he said sarcastically as he got out of the car and joined Gabrielle.

"Was that really necessary?" Gabrielle asked as he was joined by Joey.

"No, but it sure the hell was fun," Joey said with a grin as Spencer got out of the car and looked after them.
