Ahsoka glanced at Lux, heart pounding so fast she could have sworn everyone heard it too. Why did she feel like this around him? She loved Rex and he was her whole world.

She knew she would leave the Jedi council for Rex in a heartbeat, and he would, if absolutely necessary, would abandon his brothers. Ahsoka would never ask him of that, but Rex said he just wanted her to know that it was a possibility. That he would leave them for her; to be with her. Only a few people even knew about them. Her master, Anakin, obviously. He was with Padme, so he couldn't snitch; Cody, since he ran into them when they first kissed and they had to explain to him so he didn't tell anyone, although she suspected he had told Wolffe since he was always giving her funny looks. Cody always voiced his objections, but he only did so in private. He would never betray his brother by telling the senate. Wolffe disapproved, but didn't say anything. It was so strange; he was always glaring at Rex, but looking at her with something that could almost be called sorrow. Ever since he lost his pack, he vowed to never have any permanent attachments so he wouldn't have to go through the pain of losing them. He would flirt with her to bother Rex, but it was never spiteful. Maybe.

"Hey, are you okay?" Lux's voice broke through her thoughts. He reached for her hand but she pulled back slightly.

He flinched, hastily snatching his hand away.

"I'm so sorry. I know I shouldn't have…" he was blushing furiously. "I know you can't… can't love anyone because you're a Jedi, and while I hate that I understand. I-"

Ahsoka put up a hand. "No, it's not that - I do have feelings for you, despite everything telling me not to." she placed her hand atop Lux's and looked into his beautiful eyes. "It's just.." she sighs. "I love Rex." There. She said it. But she didn't feel relieved.

Lux's eyes flashed with anger, but his shoulders drooped. He pulled his hand from under hers and looked away. It was Ahsoka's turn to flinch. She hated seeing him like this. He turned and got up, walking away from her. It tore at her heart to do this to him, but she had to. For both of them. Before he left completely, he looked over his shoulder. "I understand. I do; I see the way he looks at you, and I'm not surprised you two are together. I just wish it could be different."

She almost asked him to stay, almost changed her mind, but he was already gone.

"Me too, Lux."

also for those of you that don't realize, this is a chapter story. i didn't realize this until a little bit later after using the site, but this might not apply to anyone but past me. all i'm saying is this is only part of the story and the button to move on the the next chapter is at the top right corner (at the very beginning of the story) or bottom right (right above the review box). i'm sure most of you don't need this, but whatever.
