Ok, so me and a different Fanfic writer, Heartless Demon Wolf -who you should totally check out when you're done reading this- decided to do a fic trade.
They asked for some Beast Boy/Starfire, so here you go! I hope you like it!
Obligatory I don't own Teen Titans and please don't flame over the ship.
Enjoy!
It all started early one Saturday morning at Titans Tower.
"For the last time, Beast Boy, we aren't having your Tofu Waffles!" Cyborg exclaimed.
He towered over me, at around six feet tall, maybe larger -look I don't have a ruler on me, okay?!- most of him was Metallic Robot Parts, but the small part that was still human had Dark Skin, Brown Eyes, but no Hair.
Don't let our bickering get you wrong, he's one of my best friends. Even if he is a bit of a jerk sometimes.
The two of us were currently arguing over what to have for breakfast, if that wasn't already fairly obvious.
"Geez, can't the two of you just make your own food?" Raven deadpanned.
She had Pale Skin, Purple Hair and Eyes, and wore a Dark Blue Cloak, Black Leotard, and a Gold Belt bejeweled with Rubies.
She was another member of our team, and while we weren't as close I still considered her a bit of a sister figure.
"Raven's right." Robin agreed, "Actually she just proposed a long term solution to this debate that has led to the two of you constantly fighting for years!"
He had Black Hair that stuck up in the air thanks to the Hair Gel he put in it every morning. He wore a Black and White Mask, a Red Shirt with Short Green Sleeves, Green Pants, Metal-toed Black Boots, and a Black Cape with a Yellow Interior.
He was the leader of our little Team.
"You know, I'm not sure you actually agree with her that much." Terra said, "I think you're biased."
She had Blonde Hair, Blue Eyes, and Light Skin. She wore a Black Long-Sleeved Crop-Top with a 'T' on it, Yellow Shorts, and Tan Shoes.
The two of us had a bit of a... history. Long story short, we were together before she betrayed us, realized her mistake, sacrificed herself, was revived and returned to the team.
However when she came back we ended up deciding that we were better off as friends. There were no hard feelings either way.
"How the hell am I biased?!"
"Well you two are dating."
"So? She had a good idea!"
"Please, could we not have Boyfriend Beast Boy's Waffles? Just for today?" Starfire suggested.
She had Dazzling Emerald Eyes, Shimmering Red Hair, and Lovely Orange Skin. She wore a Purple Crop-Top which had no sleeves, an Armour Plate around her shoulders, a Short Purple Skirt, and some Thigh-high Boots of the same color.
The Girl has an amazing fashion sense, if I do say so myself.
The two of us were dating, and in my personal opinion she was the most Perfect Woman in the entire universe and the Girl of my dreams. I honestly felt really fortunate that out of Everybody she could have fallen for, I was the Lucky Boy.
"You're just as biased." Cyborg pointed out.
"Just because she happens to be my Girlfriend doesn't mean she's bound to take my side all the time!" I told Cyborg.
"Well in fights that aren't between both of you, chances are she will." He told me.
"Well as the only person here who isn't either biased or started a side," Terra interrupted us, "I say that Tofu Pancakes are surprisingly good."
"Well I still want my normal ones!" Cyborg argued.
"I mean as long as we're still doing this pointless debate, I might as well say that Cyborg's right." Raven said, "I don't eat fake meat."
"Just because something's fake meat doesn't mean it's not good!" Terra debated.
"Yes, it does!" Cyborg told her.
While he turned his arguments to Terra, Starfire floated over to me and asked, "Please, My Love, would you like me to get you out some of the Tofu Pancakes despite Friend Cyborg's resistance against them?"
"Would I?" I grinned, "You're the best Girlfriend ever Star!" I said, planting a kiss on her cheek.
"Tell you what: I'll make it up to you, by taking you to the mall later today. Sounds like a plan?" I offered.
She agreed, before going to grab the food.
I smiled.
Life was good.
Later, at the Mall
"Please, does this dress look good on me?" Starfire asked, twirling around in a Pink Sundress.
"Star, everything looks good on you." I reassured her.
She just looked at me for a few minutes, before saying "Are you not biased in making that statement?"
"More talk about biases…" I muttered, when my cell phone rang.
"Sorry Darling, I have to take this." I excused myself, slipping out of the dressing room and leaning against a wall of the store.
I cringed a little upon seeing that it was from my adoptive father.
It's ok, I told myself. We made up, remember?
"Hello?" I asked.
"Garfield," Mento told me, "I have some news. And you're not going to like it."
"Ok…" I answered, "What is it?"
"Your Uncle." He sighed, "He escaped."
Twenty Minutes Later
"Boyfriend Beast Boy, who is this Nicholas Galtry and why are you so worried about his escape?" Starfire asked me.
"You'll see." I muttered, "Come on, we need to get all the information we can."
We walked into the Police Station. I turned to her and whispered, "Be careful. These Cops could very well be corrupt. There's a reason we don't usually team up with them."
She nodded. I turned to look around the place.
The front room was pretty dull, to be honest. The Walls and Ceiling were White and in front of us was a Brown Desk with a laptop where a Man sat.
He had White Skin, Blonde Hair, and Brown Eyes, with a bored look on his Face. We walked over to him.
"What are you doing here?" He asked us, "Aren't you supers too cool for us Police?"
I rolled my eyes, "If you wouldn't mind, I need to go through some files. It's for a case."
"Don't you people have your own files?"
"Well, maybe we don't have one on this one Guy! Or at least in the Titans files."
"Still, no. You don't have the proper authority."
"Proper authority my ass! I'm a superhero. I save lives on a daily basis. I think I can be trusted with the files!
"...More than you can…" I added in a mutter.
"Super or not, you're still not allowed." He told me. "Now if you wouldn't mind leaving?"
I was about to respond, but before I could Starfire grabbed my arm and began pulling me away. "Boyfriend Beast Boy, we must be going."
I sighed, apparently I wouldn't be able to learn anything more about his escape.
I still had what Mento had told me over the phone, but a call isn't exactly the best place to convey that sort of information.
Crap.
A Few Days Later
Knock Knock
"Come in"
Starfire walked in through my bedroom door.
"It's like, midnight. Why are you still up?" I asked her.
"I could ask you the same thing," She replied. "What is going on?"
"What do you mean? I'm fine." I told her.
"Boyfriend Beast Boy, I can tell when the something is bothering you." Starfire said, "And it's not like you were doing the hiding of it very well either. You have been staying up all of the night in your room, often in the animal of some kind. Thinking about it, in general you seem to be staying as the animal more.
"And when you are not the animal, you are far more cheerful and full of the jokes than usual."
"The last one's not-"
"Beast Boy, I am your Girlfriend." Starfire interrupted. "I think I know the coping mechanisms you use."
I sighed, "Look, Star, you remember Nicholas Galtry, right?"
"Yes."
Taking a deep breath, I told her "He's my uncle."
"He is…"
"I already told you about my parents death… but after they died I wasn't immediately taken in by the Doom Patrol. My Uncle inherited custody. He also got their fortune, but only until I was an Adult.
"At the beginning he was never good to me, and pretty neglectful, but once he put together what a financial threat I was, he began hiring Assassin's to kill me. I always escaped, and the Doom Patrol did begin helping me, and eventually found out his plans and locked him away.
"But now he's back out there again. And He probably wants me dead even more this time!"
She gave me a solemn smile and hug, before saying "It will be okay, My Love. We will not let him harm you. I will not let him harm you."
"Thanks for the concern, but he's sure to be hiring only the finest Assassins." I informed her "There's a good chance you won't be able to stop them."
"Nonsense. We have saved entire planets before, and you think we can not handle some of the Assassins?!"
"Look, Star…" I told her, "I'm just a little worried that's all."
"Well if you do not get the sleep, then you will be in no condition to fight when under the attacks!" She exclaimed, "You must sleep."
"No way! You can't get me to go to sleep!" I objected, "The moment my head touches the Pillow, the killers will come out and stab me blind, before I can even open my eyes!"
"Boyfriend Beast Boy, you will be fine." She tried to reassure me, "Look if you want me to, I will stay here in your room and do the watching of over you."
"Really?" I replied "Don't you need to sleep too?!"
"I have already done the sleeping for a couple hours this night." She told me "Unlike you who has not slept in days!
"And besides, I do not think I could fall back asleep with this new knowledge of how you are in danger."
"Thanks, Star." I smiled at her "A ton."
A Few Days Later
"Who the hell let this guy in?!" Cyborg yelled, aiming his Sonic Cannon towards the intruder.
In front of us was a Large Man with Brown Hair tucked in a Ponytail, Blue Eyes, a Goatee, and White Skin. He was wearing a Leather Vest, Brown Shirt, Cargo Pants, and Brown Boots which also happened to be Cargo.
The Man appeared to have armour for skin, considering he didn't even flinch at the Blast. Only using his telepathy to push a table into my Friend.
The Villain had broken into the Tower late this Night, and seemed to be invincible.
However unlike the others, I -and maybe Starfire had put it together too- knew why he was here.
Robin threw some Birdarangs towards his head, only to have his weapons turn around back towards himself.
"Hey Big Guy!" Terra yelled, "Take this!" She began levitating some Rocks towards him. Raven did the same, only with the Furniture, in unison.
Not unlike what happened with Robin though, both of the girls quickly found themselves in a struggle to stay in control.
As the items exploded, Raven grumbled "You just had to give our attacks away to him, didn't you?"
"Surrender, Villain!" Starfire cried, only to be punched and knocked away.
"I believe he has the strength that is super too…" She muttered.
"Hey, Beast Boy, a little help here?!" Cyborg exclaimed.
"Uhhh… Yeah." I responded, gathering my courage and charging towards him mid-transformation into a Rhino.
However when I ran into him, I was the one who found my face bruised, not him.
"Definitely has both Super Strength and Invulnerability…" I told the others, resting my hand onto my bruised face.
"It's too bad his fighting skills aren't as bad as his fashion sense." Raven said, while attempting to envelope him in her magic.
Unfortunately he seemed to have prepared for if this happened, because the Man only laughed before levitating some shurikens he had been hiding in his pockets out and at her.
"Raven!" Robin screamed, running towards his girlfriend. Luckily they didn't seem to be lethal though.
After all, there was only one person in this room that the Intruder really wanted dead.
Quickly coming to the conclusion that Raven was fine, Robin turned to the rest of us.
"On the count of three, Charge." He mouthed, "One… Two… Three!"
I ran into him, this time as a Triceratops. Starfire rushed into his chest, throwing her bolts. Robin threw some Birdarangs before whipping out his Bo-Staff. Cyborg threw a punch, using his own super-strength. Terra threw some rocks at him.
For a little bit he actually staggered back. What we didn't anticipate, however, was him back-kicking Robin as he stumbled, before redirecting a couple of Terra's Rocks at Cyborg in his desperation to stop them from hitting himself.
Cyborg, who had just been about to use his Sonic Blaster, ended up hitting Terra in the confusion rather than his intended target. Starfire attempted to assist Terra, but only ended up crashing into her.
Meanwhile you remember how Terra's rocks were hitting Cy instead of the Assassin? Well one of them landed on my Leg, pinning me down.
I immediately began shape-shifting into every Animal I could think of, but it was hopeless. I was trapped.
It was pretty deja vu-y to another time something similar to this had happened, but then all I really had to do was convince Terra to turn against Slade and let me go.
This time Terra was down, along with all my Friends, and the Man that most certainly had been hired to kill me, seemed to have recovered and was headed my way.
I looked around, desperately searching for Starfire.
She wouldn't let him kill me, right? I mean she had promised that no harm would come to me.
"Look, I want my money." The Man growled. "So let's make this quick, ok?"
I closed my eyes.
To be fair, it wasn't like I expected her to actually be able to save me.
Hopefully she wouldn't blame herself.
But as I prepared for whatever weapon he had pulled out to strike me, I heard a scream.
"Stay away from Him!"
I slowly opened my eyes to see Starfire engulfed in fury. Punching, kicking, blasting, and just plain ramming the Man against the wall.
The attacks were apparently too much for him to handle, because as she pulled away he fell face first onto the floor.
As the dust settled, everyone began to get up. Terra lifted the rock, setting me free, and I instantly ran to Star.
"You… defeated him."
"Of course, My Love." She said, "My powers are based on the emotions, and nothing can make me feel more than the fears of losing you, and anger towards the ones who dare hurt you.
"And I did make the promise that I would not allow you to come to harm, remember?"
"Yeah…"
I knew it was wrong, but I felt a slight pang of envy that she had defeated him instead.
It wasn't like in the moment I hadn't been wishing for her help. It was just that right now, I kind of wished that I had been the one who had put My Assassin on his knees.
The others began to join us around his unconscious body, all thanking Star before turning to the matter at hand.
"We need to find a way to contain him. So that when he wakes we can make him tell us how he got in and why he came here in the first place." Robin announced.
"I'll be on it!" Cyborg assured him, before turning to the rest of us.
"You guys might all want to go back to sleep, while me and Robin work on this." He told us, "We'll get you for the actual interrogation if you want."
"Sounds great!" Terra yawned, "See you all tomorrow."
"Before we all part ways, can we think about how much this is going to cost?" Raven asked, waving towards the shambles that used to be our Main Room.
Robin sent her a look, before she added "Look, your Trust Fund is going to run out eventually."
The Next Morning, At The Interrogation
We were all gathered in a dark room, with a table that sat between us and the interogee.
His hands, arms, and legs were all chained onto the chair he was sitting in. A headband had been placed onto him that took away his telepathy. All of his clothes had been searched for weapons which were promptly taken out. So for now at least, he was harmless.
He'd just woken up, and like they said they would, Robin and Cyborg went to collect the rest of us.
Robin started with the questions, by asking "Why did you break in?!"
The others quickly all added their own.
"How did you get through my security?!"
"Do you have the insurance to cover the damage you caused?"
"What gave you the right to attempt to kill Boyfriend Beast Boy?!"
"Why the hell would you attack at, like, what? 1 am?! Some of us are trying to sleep!"
"Who are you working for?!" I added, despite knowing the answer full well.
"I'm not talking." He told us.
"Well could you at least tell us what to call you?" Terra asked, "It's going to be kind of awkward to just be calling you 'The Guy who broke into our Tower and tried to kill us' everytime we talk about you."
"Call me 'The Slayer'" He told us. "But that's all I'm saying."
"Beast Boy's right. If you've got a Boss then it's important we learn now." Robin said.
"I told you, I'm not talking."
"So you do have one!" Cyborg declared.
Starfire glanced at me, "I believe me and Boyfriend Beast Boy already know who they are."
"You do?" Raven asked.
I gulped.
"Who?" Robin inquired.
"Star, I was trying not to tell anyone about that!" I exclaimed.
"About what?!" Robin demanded.
"Why not? If our Friends know then we will be able to put your Uncle to the jail sooner, yes?" She frowned.
"I don't know…" I replied, a bit sheepishly. "I just didn't want to tell anyone but you."
"What are the two of you talking about?!" Robin yelled.
"I guess I don't have a choice in the matter anymore though." I sighed, "Let's go to the main room. I'll explain everything there."
They followed me there, and listened intently while I told them the story.
"...And now he's hiring Assassins to hunt me down," I finished.
"Why didn't you tell us earlier?!" Cyborg exclaimed, "I would've been upgrading the security a lot sooner! Don't worry, BB. We'll get him to jail soon."
"How?" I said, "You don't have any information on where he is right now! And until then he's just going to continue sending people to kill me."
"Well we have someone who probably knows that kind of info in our custody." Robin pointed out, before turning towards Raven. "And we have our ways of getting people to talk."
"See, Boyfriend Beast Boy? Nobody will be allowing your Uncle to kill you!" Starfire smiled. "You will be fine."
"Yeah…" I muttered, watching the others begin walking back to the interrogation room. "I'll be fine."
That Evening
Starfire walked into my room.
"Boyfriend Beast Boy, as this will be the last Night before we arrest your Uncle tomorrow, I must ask whether or not you wish for my companionship tonight?" She asked.
"Yeah… that would be nice…" I told her, "but you should be sleeping too."
"I can stay awake for endless nights if it means making sure you are safe." She told me.
"Star, I still think that you need your rest. If nothing else than for tomorrow." I said, "Who knows what he might do to you, if he finds out that we're dating."
She gave me a funny look, "I do not know if you remember but I am the one who managed to defeat the Slayer. I think I will fare fine against your Uncle.
"Why are you so scared that we will lose against your Uncle anyways? We have the information needed to stop him."
"Look, Star, I spent a year with him. I know him." I answered, "He might not be the strongest or a good fighter, but he's crafty."
"Tomorrow, I'm going to officially face him. And it's either him or me." I told her, "And look, while there's no way I'm letting him win, I'm still a little anxious."
"Beast Boy…"
"Why don't we take turns watching over each other while they're sleeping?" I suggested, trying to change the subject.
"That sounds like a glorious plan, Boyfriend Beast Boy!" Starfire proclaimed.
"You are to go first though." She sternly added.
"Fine. Just wake me up in a couple hours for my shift." I said, laying down on my bed and praying tomorrow would both come quick and go smoothly.
The Next Day
"This should be the place."
We all looked at the building in front of us.
It had Marble Walls, Slanted Red Roofs, and a Water Fountain in the Front. It had Windows with a White Outline and a Balcony overlooking the Garden
The Garden was full of Green Shrubbery, Rose Bushes, and some miscellaneous Flowers that had sprouted from the Ground. We were standing on the Brick Path that led to the House.
"Even when running from the Police he still lives in luxury…" I muttered to myself.
We all slowly headed into the door. I could feel my stomach tie into a knot.
The First Room we entered had a High White Ceiling. White support beams held it up. The walls were brown, other than one which was all a glass window that overlooked the Courtyard. The Floor was Wooden with a Carpet that stretched nearly from Wall to Wall. It was a Yale Blue, with Gold Designs.
"Halt!" Oh yeah, and Bodyguards filled the room!
Five to be specific. There were around twenty of them. They all wore matching Black Armour, and seemed to have superhuman strength.
"Titans Go!" Robin yelled, and we all began our Attacks.
Raven released some of her Black Magic at a couple of the Guards.
Cyborg charged towards one of them, and the two of them quickly found themselves both with their hands connecting, trying to knock the other down using their respective super strength.
Robin started to use his hand-to-hand combat skills against one of them.
Starfire flew towards a few of them, throwing Starbolts at them, before hitting them with her own Strength.
Terra lifted some boulders and began throwing them at the guards, knocking a couple out though some others dodged the attack.
I turned into a Jaguar, before pouncing onto one of them.
They instantly flipped me off, and I found myself flying across the room and hitting a door.
I was about to shape-shift back into my usual human form, when I smelled an odd scent. I hadn't seen my Uncle for a long time, but something about it reminded me of him.
That's when my enhanced hearing thanks to being a feline at the moment kicked in.
"What do you mean My Nephew and his Friends found us here?!" The First Voiced said.
"It seems that way Sir." A Second One answered, "We…"
At that point I transformed back. I already had all the information I needed.
On the other side of that door, was where My Uncle hid.
However as I was trying to figure out what to do with this information, the Guard who had thrown me over here came running to finish the job.
I quickly turned into a Stegosaurus and hit him with my Tail, making him fly across the room just like he had with me.
After dealing with that, I began to focus on the more important matter at hand.
The Battle was still ensuing, and while some of the Guards had been knocked out, plenty still remained. Everyone was too busy fighting each other, so nobody was really paying attention to me at the moment.
I could help my Friends with the rest of the soldiers and get My Uncle afterwards.
But if I did that then I risked him escaping in the confusion of the Battle. And if that happened, who knew how long it would take for me to actually be able to confront him? I already knew where he was, just waiting to be taken down. And defeating him was the most important part of this Mission.
Making up my mind, I turned away from the fight and burst through the door.
Inside was a small office. The Walls were white, along with the Ceiling. There was a Brown Desk in the Middle of the Room, along with a Black Chair to sit in.
Near each end of said Desk stood a person. To the right was what I assumed the Employee who I'd heard in the earlier conversation.
On the left, with Black Hair, Light Skin, and Dark Brown eyes that almost looked Black, wearing a Dark Blue Shirt, Orange Sweater, and Brown Pants, stood no other than My Uncle.
First I turned to get the Employee out of the way, but before I could do anything they quickly said "Um… I'll be going now!" before running off.
"I guess it's just you and me now." I said, turning back towards My Uncle, gritting my teeth.
"I see that." He replied, "And I'll admit that I've had just about enough of you, you Little Brat!
"Even when you were, what? Six? Seven? You were already messing up my plans! And this is it!"
"No I've had enough!" I interrupted him, "When you gained custody over me after my Parents deaths you started by neglecting me. And not just emotionally forcing me to suffer through the grief of their deaths, alone, no. You constantly forgot to feed me. You kicked me out of the house at like, Midnight. You even slapped me a couple of times for 'Speaking out of turn' or some crap like that!
"But that's not the end of it. Once you realized that I was a threat to your precious wealth, I found myself hunted down by Assassins Day after Day. Night after Night. And if you managed to find a way to just get rid of me at home without risking investigations from the Police, you would have done it. It's a miracle I didn't die!"
"You should have." He interjected.
"Well I want to know what you have to say!" I continued, "I want to know what you have to say to the Child you attempted assassination on multiple times! I want to know how you can live with yourself after everything you've done!"
He only laughed. "Garfield, if you think for even a moment that taking the life of a freak like yourself is the same as murder than you are sorely mistaken.
"You're an animal. Nothing more, nothing less. And hunting is allowed, isn't it? You've been one ever since your parents gave you those… well as you call them 'Powers'. A more accurate term, however, is Curse."
My teeth clenched tighter.
"Do you really think I haven't heard about your more beastly side? How you nearly killed your own Teammate? Your own Friend?
"Garfield, It was all over the news."
"I wasn't the one who attacked her, it turned out that I was protecting her from Adonis!" I objected.
"Maybe so. But it still proved that you're far more animalistic than you let on." He continued, "Your Friends were suspicious of you for a reason. If Adonis hadn't attacked first you very well could have ended up doing something similar to the Girl."
"Like I should listen to anything you say!" I yelled, "After everything you've done-"
Before I could finish, he interrupted me and continued. "Honestly when I heard the news that you and that Starfire Girl were a thing, I was very surprised. I never thought that a Female with any self-respect would want to be your Mate, rather than an actual treasured Girlfriend to some other boy."
I clenched my Fist. "You can say all you want about me being a Savage Beast, but don't bring her into this!"
"I'm just saying. Your animal instincts make it impossible for you to truly love her." I closed my eyes, desperately attempting to block him out. "Most animals mate for no other reason than to reproduce. It's only natural that all you would like her for is to breed."
"Shut. Up!" Suddenly I could feel my body growing. My teeth became larger, and fur covered my body. Claws sprouted from my fingertips. I could recognize the feeling of being this Animal anywhere.
I was the Werebeast.
Letting out a large roar, I lunged at him.
After that everything was a bit of a blur.
I remember screams and blood. Then more screams, but it seemed like more people had joined in, and it was less in pain than in shock and anger.
And more than all that I remember Starfire, and how gentle she was. yet deep inside she was at least a little scared.
Anyone in her position would be.
When I finally returned to my senses, I looked around the room.
All of the other Titans had arrived. Starfire was next to me, and seemed to be stroking my back and holding my hand.
Everybody else was staring at me, with horrified expressions on their faces.
"What happened?" I asked them.
Cyborg and Terra silently gestured towards where My Uncle lay.
There were Large Slash Marks all over His Chest, and there appeared to be Multiple Bite Marks on His Shoulders, Arms, and Legs. I winced at the blood which was pouring out. Robin and Raven were next to him, she appeared to be attempting to heal his wounds while he was saying something to her that I couldn't quite hear. And wasn't sure I wanted to.
"You umm…" Starfire stuttered.
Robin turned to face me. "What the hell is wrong with You?! You probably killed him!" He yelled.
"So I…" I returned to looking at the Wounded Body, "I did that."
I can't say it didn't make sense. It's the kind of a thing that I'd fantasized about for years, if I'm being honest. Putting him in his place for everything he's done. But now that it had actually happened in real life, it didn't feel good at all to look at him and know that I had been the one who had inflicted all those injuries.
"Please, Friend Robin, do not be too harsh on him. I am certain he did not mean to nearly do the killing of His Uncle." Starfire said, "He was not in control of himself as the Werebeast."
"Oh, so now we're using that excuse." Robin responded, "We can't just absolve all his wrong doings because of he "Wasn't in control" or something like that."
"I didn't mean to, I swear!" I spluttered, "He was saying all this stuff, and it was starting to get to me, and next thing I knew he was on the floor, covered in blood!"
Robin sighed, "Well don't think that I'm just going to forget this."
That Night
"Boyfriend Beast Boy?"
I turned back to see Starfire.
I was currently sitting on the Rocky Coast of Titans Island. She sat down besides me.
"How did you know to find me here?" I asked her.
"I had already looked all over the Tower, and decided to check here before going on the flight to find you." She explained.
"Oh," I replied, "I was kind of hoping you were going to say something really romantic about how of course you knew I was here, because you know me so well."
"I could change the response now-"
"No, don't bother. It wouldn't be real anyway."
We were both quiet for a few moments, before she broke it by saying "You do know that Your Uncle survived. There is no blood on your hands."
"Yeah." I answered, "But I still nearly did."
"You were not in the control of yourself."
"You heard Robin. That's not an excuse."
"Well perhaps he is reacting overly!" Starfire insisted.
"Star-"
"I am not alone in this thought. Friend Raven told me earlier that she was planning on doing the talking to him about it!" She exclaimed, before muttering to herself "...Although it was more about his fears you would do the harm to her and how she could handle herself…"
"I can still hear you, you know." I told her.
"Sorry." She sheepishly replied.
There was more silence, however this time I broke it by saying "Star, do you think I'm just a Beast? That the WereBeast is just my true colors?"
"...No…" She stared, "Why would you ask such a thing?"
"No reason."
"My Love, Why?"
I sighed, "Before I… you know… My Uncle was telling me that ever since My Parents gave me the serum which gave me these powers, I've been nothing more than an animal-"
"Are Humans not animals?" She blurted.
"Technically, yes… but I think he meant more in the way that I was inhumane." I explained, "That I only had my instincts. And that they were savage."
"Oh" She responded, "Well that is blatantly false."
"What do you mean?" I asked her, "Immediately after he said that I proved him right by turning into the WereBeast and nearly killing him!"
"Even so, one outburst against a man who the memory of has haunted you for many years should not define you." She told me, "Perhaps we should work on controlling the WereBeast?"
"Um… yeah," I replied. "I think that's a given. The problem here is that it might not even be possible. Can you please stop trying to act like I'm completely innocent here?"
"But you are." She insisted.
"We're dating, and therefore you are biased." I reminded her.
"Oh, so we are going back to the arguments that were used in the fight which happened days ago?!" She asked, with narrowed eyes.
"Well maybe they had a point!" I exclaimed, "And maybe it applies to this more serious issue far more!
"Fine," She sighed. "But you are no Savage Beast."
"How do you know that?"
"Because like you said before, I am in love with you." Starfire said.
"Don't be cheesy," I stated, "I thought I told you earlier that I don't want you telling me that, if you don't mean it."
"But I do." She affirmed, "Just because I was unable to figure out the location you were in, does not mean that I do not know who you are inside. And the Man I know inside, is no Monster. "Let us compare him to his Uncle, the true Monster. He hired Assassins to murder his own Nephew when he was the child, for nothing more than money! It is his greed that defines him."
I grinned, "I guess maybe you're right. Maybe it's just one Small Dark Side, that I can learn to control."
She leaned over, and kissed me, "I am glad you are feeling better, My Love."
After that we sat there for a few minutes, before She blurted "We should probably go back in."
"Yeah, I guess so." I admitted, "But I kind of want to stay out here with you."
She smiled, "We can stay out here a little longer."
And so we did. Sitting there, looking at the Water which surrounded us, The City that sat across The Tower, and the Glimmering Night Sky.
And in that moment, gazing at that View with Starfire next to me, for the first time in what felt like forever, I genuinely felt at peace.
