Korra and Asami step out on the other side of the portal hand in hand. They close their eyes, take a deep breath and open them once again. They look around at the world they have just entered. Pink blossom trees stand on either side of the portal's entrance. The fully sprouted leaves that are perked, peppy and pink begin to fall on either side of the happy new couple. A dove flies across their head.

"New beginning?" Asami chuckles to herself. "I think the spirits want us to be at peace" Korra replied.

Asami takes a step forward with Korra's hand in her own. She begins to break into full sprint dragging her new partner into the beautifully coloured universe that they can now call home. Asami lets go of Korra's hand and begins to keep going assuming that Korra keeps up the chase. This was her moment of catharsis after her the complicated troubles of her father. Running through the now peaceful spirit was almost like running through a rainbow. The colours begin to blend into one big road, which Asami became entranced by. In this transfixed state Asami felt like the pressures and walls that she had built up over time had begun to fall. Korra on the other hand felt the same but did not find this to be a positive experience. She stopped running and sat herself on the ground. All the pressure she had once felt of being the Avatar was for the first time alleviated. She had succeeded everything she set out to do and yet, something weighed on her. As if for the first time she realised that there were no more threats to the physical and spiritual world. What would her life become knowing that as the Avatar she mastered all the elements? For Korra she now has no sense of guidance after losing her mentors from the past lives and the ones in her current life after stepping through the portal. Korra realised that this challenge might be too great for her to take on even with Asami. Although she new the spirits wanted her to be at peace, Korra realised that even a journey of self-discovery and realisation is often a hard path to take. She remembered a funny old man say to her once. 'If you look for the light, you will often find it.' Korra reflected on this. This was not the case at all. She was in one of the best and liberating stages of her life and yet something just did not click. She lay down and stared of into the distance. Asami, still running wild, had manage to find an apple in a tree and took an enormous bite.

"Korra, try this!" Asami exclaimed. She turned around to find Korra lying down with a neutral expression. Asami calmly walked over.

"I remember when Mako used to get like this. Something's on your mind." Asami tried to rationalise the thoughts in Korra's head and reason with her. But Korra with her strong will didn't take kindly to this.

"How did you do it Asami?" Korra asked. Even in her state of deflation she tried to put a positive spin on things. "How did you manage to endure every challenge that we faced as a team"

"Korra, I'm not going to say something cheesy like 'Together'. If you're looking for that the Spirit door is the other way. But, I'm looking for an adventure and I want to do it with you. Are you with me?" Asami tried to pose this question as lovingly as possible in the hopes that this would motivate Korra.

She hesitated and grappled for a moment. Reluctantly she stood and kissed Asami. "Absolutely. Don't ever let me second guess that. If I ever go down like that again, please catch me."

Asami turned around positively, she was ready to share what she had found with Korra. "Great, because you have gotta try-"

Bang! Korra hit the ground again. But this time not through her own doing. She seemed to have slipped on something. Asami rushed back over and began to help Korra to her feet. It took a couple of minutes in a literal sense as Korra's torso was stuck to the floor. A pile of purple ooze began to stick to Korra and in a very weak sense, dragged her down. Korra grabbed on to a peace of white cloth that was next to her and used that to anchor herself onto Asami. Korra managed to get out of the sticky situation.

"I guess I must have slipped on this." Korra said still clutching onto the white piece of what now appeared to look like fur.

"Wow, that is some old water-tribe gear. Did you bring that from home?" Asami asked.

Korra looked mildly offended. "At what point do you think I did that? When I was defending Kuvira from her own massive laser? Or when I was saying goodbye to my own physical life?"

"It looks like you skinned Naga and brought her with you." Asami uttered. She knew that this might anger Korra, but she couldn't put any other image in her head of what the fur cloth could have been.

Playfully, Korra shoved Asami and turned away. "You joke, but I'll have you know that Naga was my first love and trust me I can always go back." Korra looked down at the fur and realised that something about its style was different to what she had grown up with.

"It's a headpiece, this is more of an ancient northern water tribe garment." Korra explained. She put the headpiece on and turned back to Asami. "What do you think? Kyoshi wore bold make-up, maybe this could be my thing?"

Asami looked Korra up and down. "Nah. Put it in the bag though. We can keep it as a nice souvenir." Korra nodded and put it in their pouch. The kissed one another and began to explore the spirit world. The first happy moment of their new life filled with laughs, love and even a little mystery.

6 Months Later...

Korra lay on the floor. Again. She wailed and sobbed uncharacteristically. She knew she was capable of something so much greater. Her strength often kept the morale of those around her at a maximum, but something today just didn't feel right. Over the las 6 months Asami and Korra had begun collecting spiritual relics from the spirit world. They also managed to combine Asami's ingenuity and engineering brain with Korra's Avatar abilities to create a treehouse. From the spirit portal they first entered through they had travelled what felt like across galaxies, all the stars and planets and oceans of time. But something in Korra's mind hadn't change. This empty void. She couldn't have been happier being with Asami, their love life was ideal and many of the aristocratic in Republic City would gossip for days about how perfect they were together. Unfortunately for them, they were not in Republic City anymore and Korra felt a great sense of loneliness. The isolation from people and her Avatar journey made her feel like her 'Happy Ever After', which most Avatar's got, wouldn't be achieved.

"Korra, did you manage to get some food? I'm starving, I met with that old-guy you were talking about last year…" Asami had a great day. Her eyes were instantly drawn to Korra's in the corner of the room.

Korra was curled up into a ball and this was not something that Korra did every old day. Something was off about Korra and Asami could definitely tell. Her strength and confidence started to seep away. It wasn't like the initial sadness that Asami felt when her mother died. No this was the kind of sadness that stuck in the days, weeks, month and even year after the incident. Asami remembered an old family trick and began to put it into action. She sat against one of the walls in the corner that Korra was in. Korra began to rest her head on Asami's lap. The plan was working. Asami remembered that sometimes words don't work like they do in the business place. Sometimes a gentle touch is what is required.

"I don't know who I am anymore. I know I've done the journey, I lost this part of me before, but this time is different, and I don't know why." Korra reflected whilst wiping away some tears.

Asami held Korra for a moment. The moment turned into an hour and a half of silence. A comforting silence. She realised and assumed that's what Korra needed. But it didn't feel right for both parties. Not because it wasn't working, but a more active approach needed to be taken and Korra's abrasive and impulsive side wasn't about to be taken for an emotional journey… again. "Don't get me wrong Asami we've been doing so great on the searches and putting this home together. You and me, we work, but something is still missing." Korra tried to rationalise in her head what was going on but couldn't find the answers.

From her countless journeys she' never had the answers come easy, but even at this point she may have had some clues. This was different. She felt an emptiness even as a fully realised Avatar. She knew her gimmick was to be strong and brave for everyone, but there was something raw about just her and Asami.

"Go for a walk. Take the headpiece and go for a walk." Asami gently suggested.

Korra questioned the idea and looked up at Asami. "That's so strange." They both laugh at the random outburst of an idea.

"Go on, you may find something yet, my little treasure hunter." Asami jokingly stated like a fictitious yet caricatured version of a mother. Korra began to make fake belching noises towards the comment. Asami shooed her out the door.

Korra stormed to the door and slapped the headpiece on. She goes to make a witty remark but felt the empty void inside her pull back. She exits. She begins to walk through what feels like an Autumn field in Republic City. She wonders what she could be missing as the flurry of Orange and Yellow leaves begin to fall around her. She wonders what her friends would say. What Tenzin might say. Korra proved herself and felt like there weren't any insecurities left to touch on, but maybe that was the insecurity. It all became muddled in her head. She felt like there had to be a mystery, her confliction had to mean something. Avatar business? No. This was Korra business for the first time. It didn't matter being the Avatar in the spirit world, over their travels she found that she was in some ways ordinary. Korra's internal questioning kept her walking, the walking made her question. In loops and loops she tended to cycle. Such is the way of an ever-growing Avatar.

Korra not paying attention found herself at the foot of a dark cave. She took a step back and felt an evil yet familiar presence approach. The clicks and clacks of something emerging from the cave made Korra shuffle back uncomfortably. She put on a brave face before the spirit revealed itself. Then, a loud, wheezing cough was heard and echoed. An old, experienced voice was heard through the cave, but again Korra could not put a face to it.

"So… You have finally returned. I knew you would."
