Jack was used to rising early each day so it was no surprise when he woke just as the sun was coming over the horizon. However, on this morning, the last thing he wanted to do was leave the bed where Celeste had somehow wrapped herself around him during the night. Her head was laying on his chest just underneath his chin with one hand resting on his stomach and one leg thrown over his thigh causing him to feel both incredibly content and somewhat uncomfortable at the way she had snuggled up to him. Before she could awaken and either be embarrassed at her sleeping position OR feel embarrassed by the reaction he was having to her body being draped over his, he reluctantly began to remove himself from her soft, warm body.
He moved slowly so as not to disturb her and felt his heart tug at the sweet little moan of displeasure that came from her. Thankfully, though, she kept sleeping. Jack was hit with the realization that it was unequivocally one of the most difficult things he had ever done. Nevertheless, he put his boots back on and then covered her up. Before leaving, he allowed himself just a moment more to watch her.
Damn, but she was beautiful. She had turned so she was laying on her stomach with her hair splayed across her pillow. She looked like an angel and Jack wondered at the good fortune that may have come into his life just because they had a chance meeting at a waterfall.
It was no coincidence, Jackie Boy, he could almost hear his father say.
Tearing his gaze reluctantly away, he forced himself to start the morning.
He made his way to the main deck where he found Gibbs.
"Mornin', Cap'n". Gibbs greeted. "Storms a brewin'," he stated as he pointed towards the skies.
"Aye…..Looks to be that way," Jack agreed. "Good thing we have no plans today except to see a man about a treasure."
"The men should start coming back aboard this afternoon. Unless, ye've changed yer mind about when we set sail again."
"We have no heading as of yet, but I'm hoping that will change soon," he said with a twinkle in his eye.
After checking out a few other things, Jack made his way back to his quarters.
He opened the door as quietly as possible to find Celeste still sleeping. He sat beside her on the bed and tried to wake her. He hated to bring an end to her sweet slumber, but he felt nearly like a child on Christmas morning and wanted to go back to Weatherby's bookshop as soon as possible to see if the man had figured anything out overnight.
"Celeste, darlin'. I hate to wake you….but…"
"It's okay, Jack," she said before opening her sleepy eyes to smile at him before stretching attempting to awaken her muscles and shake the sleep away. Jack watched in fascination; He'd never been more mesmerized by a woman's movements before.
It was disconcerting.
Noticing the frown on his face, Celeste propped herself up on one elbow. "What's wrong?"
"Oh nothing…..nothing at all…..But we must be going. We need to meet with the bookstore man."
Celeste pursed her lips. "You mean Edmund?"
"Yes, yes….Edmund," Jack said as he waved his hand dismissively. "Or Weatherby…..or whatever his name is…..We need to be going so we can see him."
Celeste sat up fully and crossed her arms as she looked Jack squarely in the eyes. "You will NOT disrespect him today. Correct?"
Jack's eyebrows shot up in surprise. "What?"
"I said….you will not disrespect him….or frighten him like you did yesterday, right?"
"Whatever do you mean, Celeste? Of course I won't."
"Jack, I'm serious. My father said he's probably the one person who could help us crack this puzzle so I need to have your word that you will be NICE to him and will not try to intimidate the poor man."
Jack did a 'cross your heart' motion across his chest. "I swear, I will be on my best behavior. Now can we get going…..Please?"
He sounded like a petulant little boy and she couldn't help but smile. "Yes….Just give me a few minutes to wash up and get dressed."

Jack was getting impatient as he waited for Celeste to get ready. He had left her in his quarters to wash up and get dressed, but it seemed to be taking her forever.
"Bugger! How long does it take a female to get ready?" he muttered to himself before knocking on the door.
"Celeste, we're burnin' daylight! Let's go, woman!" he barked.
Mere seconds later, Celeste opened the door and looked up at Jack with a smirk on her face. "Getting a might impatient, aren't you, Captain Sparrow? It will be awhile before Edmund opens his shop for the day, you know. There is no need for us to rush."
Jack's brows furrowed. "Well, do you know where he lives? Perhaps we could meet him there instead and…"
"We will do no such thing, Jack!" Celeste scolded and Jack flinched for a moment. "Look, I understand you are accustomed to giving orders and having people do whatever you say at the snap of a finger, but we are not going to show up and start ordering him about. Remember…you promised."
"Yes, yes, I know," he scowled. "So how much longer?"
She leaned up to kiss him on the cheek. "Why don't I treat you to breakfast for letting me share your bed last night," She stopped suddenly realizing how her admission must sound and then huffed in embarrassment. "I mean…..well….we have time until Edmund will be in, so please let's get something to eat. I know a wonderful pastry shop. Let's go."
Ignoring the butterflies in her stomach at the way he was looking at her, Celeste grabbed his hand and began hastily leading him off the ship.
They made their way off the dock and Celeste lead him through town before stopping at a quaint pastry shop just up the street from Weatherby's bookshop. The place was a little too frilly for his taste. Being a pirate, he wasn't one to normally darken the doors of such an establishment as they would find him unwelcome. Besides, he had a certain reputation to uphold and being seen in such a place might not look good on him. However, he decided to give it a chance if for no other reason than to make Celeste happy.
Upon opening the door, Jack's senses were hit with the incredible smell of pastries, sugary sweetness, and coffee.
Yes, he needed coffee…Possibly lots of it considering what they may have ahead of them.
"Celeste, sweetheart. Haven't seen you in a while! Are you okay?" A woman came out from behind the counter to envelope Celeste in a hug.
"Hello, Rosie!" Celeste said as she held the woman tightly. "I am sorry. The last week has been…. busy."
Rosie put a hand on her hip and grimaced good naturedly. "So I've heard. Is HE the reason why?" She wiggled her eyebrows at Jack and Celeste blushed clear to her toes.
"Haha!" Jack laughed. "No….sorry, love…..We only met just yesterday…..and well, we be not there…yet," he cut a gaze to Celeste as he said it.
"No…certainly not," Celeste confirmed as her blush grew more prominent. "Anyway, we just need some breakfast. So can you help us out please? I'm starving. What do you have today?"
Realizing Celeste wanted to change the subject, Rosie continued to smile but went back behind the counter to show them the various assortment of muffins, cakes, and delectable pastries she had made for the day.
A wonderful selection of smells began to fill Jack's senses…..until his eyes settled on his favorite.
He stood upright and pointed right at it. "That one! THAT be the one fer me!"
Rosie's smile grew wider. "Ah….so you like the cream filled pastries. Yes?"
He gave her his most charming smile "Yes, love. This be me fav'rit. And being a sailor, I don't get it very often. So can ye help me out?".
Interpreting the innuendo in Jack's admission, Rosie gave him a look that told him she was on to him. "I have no doubt you're quite the scoundrel, Captain Sparrow. But I will always try to have these on hand from now on when I hear the Pearl is on it's way. Yes?"
Jack smiled at her in response, "I will be forever indebted to you, dear Rosie." He picked up her hand and kissed it.
Upon his release, Rosie looked at Celeste, "Oh you need to be on your guard with this one, sweetheart."
"Don't I know it," Celeste confirmed as Jack's smile only grew wider.
Rosie got two of the pastries out of her display, put them on a plate, and handed them to Jack. "Coffee too?"
When he agreed, she poured him a generous cup. "Black I assume? Correct?"
Jack reached out his hand gratefully to take it from her. "You are soon to be one of me favorite persons, Ms. Rosie." He gave her a wink and Celeste couldn't help but chuckle as she watched Jack walk to a small table with pastries and coffee in hand.
Then, Rosie handed another plate to Celeste with a chocolate filled croissant and followed it up with a mug of coffee with a touch of cream and sugar.
"You know me too well, Rosie."
Rosie looked towards Jack before turning back to Celeste. "Yes…I do. So tell me what's going on here?"
Celeste took a sip of her coffee and tried to look innocent. "Whatever do you mean?"
"Don't play coy with me, Miss," Rosie said as she put a hand on her hip and reduced her voice to a whisper. "Jack SPARROW? Really, Celeste? Are you sure?"
"I feel like I can trust him, Rosie. Our father's knew each other…and my dad always told me to trust the Sparrow's. What are the chances that Jack would find me so soon after my dad…well, you know."
Rosie's expression grew serious. "I DO know. And I don't want you to get hurt. He's a pirate, love!"
Celeste looked at Jack longingly. "Yes….but I think a good pirate….if there is such a thing. My father told me to trust him, so I will. He saved me yesterday, by the way."
Rosie looked surprised. "WHAT? What happened?"
Celeste shared the story of how she'd gone to the waterfall only to be followed by three men who definitely meant her harm. She recounted how Jack had come to her aid, taken her back to the ship, and then met with Edmund Weatherby. She told him how Jack had insisted she stay on the Pearl for her own safety…..and how he had been a complete gentleman the entire time.
"Ay, but I see the sparkle in his eyes," Rosie confirmed. "And I don't think it's just for treasure."
"What are you saying?" Celeste asked.
"I'm saying I want you to be careful. Your father may have told you to trust him, but falling in love with a pirate lord is a dangerous game. Your mother told you that."
Celeste wiped away a tear that threatened to fall. "I know, Rosie. I'll be careful, I promise. But I really do think Jack may be the one to help me on this journey."
Rosie gave her another hug. "Then, my prayers are with you. Please let me know what you find out from Edmund."
Celeste made her way to the little table where Jack was enjoying his pastry and coffee. Seeing her approach, he stood up to help her into her chair. She was flattered at the gallantry and noticed as Rosie gave her a smirk.
When she sat down across from him, she couldn't help but chuckle.
"What's so funny" he asked.
"I must admit….It's rather funny seeing you here in a place like this. Is it too much lace & flowers for you?"
He grinned. "I love lace in the right setting," He wiggled his eyebrows. "And I've been known to give flowers…..so it's good, love. Besides, this is arguably one of the most delectable treats I've tasted in quite some time."
They finished their pastries and coffee just as Rosie approached to see if they wanted a refill. She noticed the anxious look on Jack's face.
"Edmund should be opening any time now," she said as they heard the town's clock chiming the 9 o'clock hour.
"RIGHT!" Jack said as he finished his coffee and stood up. Taking Rosie's hand in his, he kissed it again. "Thank you again, my dear. We will most definitely be back! But right now we need to…."
"….Go see a man about a map," Celeste finished as she chuckled and stood up. She gave Rosie another hug. "Thank you! I love you so!"
"I love you too, baby girl."
Before the two left her bakery, she called to them, "Come back by on your way out and I'll have some things for you to take aboard."
Jack liked the sound of that. He liked it very much.

Jack and Celeste reached the store just as they saw Edmund opening the curtains signaling he was open for the day. They made their way inside and Celeste handed him a cup of coffee she had acquired before leaving Rosie's bakery.
He smiled at her gratefully. "Do I thank Rosalina for this?"
"Yes…..and this too…." She held up a bag that held his favorite inside. He took it out and sniffed in delight. "She knows me too well."
"Yes, yes…." Jack said impatiently. "Apparently, she knows EVERYONE's favorite in this bloody town…..but may we get back to the task at hand?"
When Edmund and Celeste both shot him a sharp look, he softened. "Please?" he smiled.
Edmund took a big bite of the delicacy Rosie had sent as well as a gulp of the coffee.
"Yes, Captain Sparrow. And I think you will both be intrigued by what I discovered last night."
He turned to Celeste. "Can you give me the puzzle? We need to see how many columns are there."
Celeste quickly pulled it out of her bag. The three of them drew close together so they could look.
"Eight columns," said Celeste as they all looked on.
Edmund looked down a small list he had written and a smile crossed his face. Then he pulled out one of the books from his bag and opened to a page that had been earmarked.
"I believe this could be it! Your great grandfather's mother was indeed Irish royalty. Or at least what they considered royalty at the time. From what I have researched, I think she may have been from Drogheda."
"Drogheda?" Jack and Celeste both said simultaneously.
"Yes….DROGHEDA," Edmund confirmed. "May we try it?"
Celeste held the puzzle in her hands and turned each dial until she spelled it out. Once the final letter was entered, one end of the puzzle popped open. She looked at Jack and Edmund in wonder.
She tugged at the end excitedly and was ecstatic to find that it came off revealing a cylinder with a paper inside.
She looked at Jack again in surprise.
"Take it out, love." He said with a wide grin. "Let's see what be inside."
Celeste took out a weathered paper and unfurled it to reveal a map.
An honest to goodness treasure map.
Jacks's smile grew wide. "We have our heading, love. Shall we go?"
