The next morning, Chip and Dale are woken up early and driven back to the park. Dave drops them off at the tree just as dawn breaks. They say goodbye to each other as Dave leaves for his car. Chip and Dale prepare to head inside just as the sun starts to come up.
Dale yawns. "I'm going back to bed," Dale said in a tiresome voice.
Chip yawns. "You don't want to join me for coffee on the front porch?" Chip asked.
"Um, maybe some other time, Chip," Dale said
"Okay, I'll see you after, I guess." Chip said.
Dale heads upstairs to the shared bedroom. Chip makes a coffee and prepares to head outside. He spots an old photo album and picks it up, and takes it with him outside. Once outside, Chip takes a seat on the bench and places his coffee mug next to him. He opens the photo album on his lap and starts flipping through pages. He stops when he comes across an old picture taken when his and Dale's parents were alive celebrating Thanksgiving many years ago.
[The scene changes back 15 years ago in West Yellowstone, Montana.]
"Chip, sweety, can you come set the table for me." A female chipmunk asked.
"Sure, mom." Chip said.
As Chip sets the table, Chip's father enters the treehouse. He walks over to Chip's mother.
"How's the little one doing?" He asked.
Lisa rubbed her stomach gently. "Just fine, Henry." She said.
"Do you know if it's a boy or a girl yet?" Chip asked excitedly.
Henry smiled and kneeled. "Well, Chip, we aren't sure yet. However, whether it's a boy or girl, I need to know that you'll look out for them and mentor them. You think you can promise that for me?" He asked.
"Of course, Dad." Chip said.
Henry pats Chip's back. "That's my boy. I'm proud of you, Chipperson; you'll grow up to do many great things in this world." He said.
[The scene changes back to Chip smiling at the photo on the bench.]
Chip continues flipping through pages; Dale comes out and joins Chip.
"Whatcha looking at?" Dale asked as he sat down next to Chip.
"Oh, just looking at some previous Thanksgivings that we had." Chip said.
Dale points to an old sepia picture. "Wow, you sure were young in that photo." He remarks.
Chip points. "Yeah, you were too in that picture." He replied.
Dale sighs. "Wow, time sure does go by fast.
"Yeah, it does." Chip said, glaring at the old picture.
"So, what do we do now?" Dale asked.
"About what?" Chip asked.
"It's Thanksgiving today," Dale said.
"Oh, well, I'm sure there's something in the fridge. I didn't plan on doing anything special, did you?" Chip said.
"No. It's really just another day if you think about it. It would be nice to have family and friends, but I think I've come to realize that you're the only family or friend I need in this life." Dale said.
Chip nodded. "You're right, Dale. I look back a lot at our lives, and I keep wondering what life could've been, but in reality, you're the only friend I needed. We understand everything about each other, and no matter how big of a fight or argument we've ever had, we're always there to help each other out." Chip said.
Dale didn't say anything, just placed his paw on Chip's back and gave his iconic large smile, exposing the two buck teeth.
"Come on; I'm sure there's something in the fridge that I can make for us." Chip said.
The two went inside to the kitchen. Chip started preparing stuff out of the leftover ingredients from the fridge. Shortly after, however, Gadget arrived back home. She came over happy to see Chip and Dale again and gave them each a brief hug.
"I thought you were coming back tomorrow?" Chip asked.
"Well, I planned on it, but then I realized that I'm perfectly happy just spending Thanksgiving with you guys." Gadget explained.
"What about Monterey Jack and Zipper?" Dale asked.
"What about me, Dale?" Monterey said, entering the kitchen.
"Monterey!" Chip and Dale exclaimed.
"Good to see you too, lads. Say, what are ya cooking, Chipper?" Monterey asked as he sniffed the aroma in the room.
"Just some stuff I found in the fridge." Chip said.
"Well, anyway, you can add a couple more plates into the mix? I think it's safe to say we're all back together again." Monterey said.
"Sure." Chip said.
Chip then served everyone dinner and took a seat at the table. Afterwards, everyone helped out with cleaning the kitchen and shortly after, everyone went to bed. Chip and Dale laid in their bunks, staring up at the ceiling thinking.
"Dale, are you awake?" Chip asked.
"Yeah," Dale replied in a sleepish tone.
"Thank you." Chip said.
Dale sat up and leaned over the top bunk to look at Chip. "For what? He asked.
Chip smiled. "For just being you." Chip replied.
"Anytime, Chip," Dale replied.
Dale laid back down in his bed.
"Good night, Dale." Chip said.
"Good night, Chip," Dale said.
The scene fades with Chip and Dale falling asleep in their beds.
The End.
