All Nightmare Long
Chapter 574
Author's Note: Let's see how Jewel is going to react to Jadis, shall we? I don't think it's going to be a nice meeting, and as it goes on, it won't be pretty. Especially when Jadis says to Jewel what she does to Michonne about laying with Rick during the first battle, yeah, Jewel isn't like Michonne. We'll see how far I get with Jadis; I'd like to do Richard and Daryl and him finding out about Carol in this chapter. Not sure if that will happen in this chapter. Please review.
Team Family POV:
Jewel walked with Rick, keeping her hand in his as they walked into the strange area, as she kept her eyes on her people as they were separated by the amount of the large group they stumbled on. Jewel noticed that the strangers surrounded them, keeping them in the center of the circle.
"Are you a collective or does one lead?" A female's voice asked.
Rick and Jewel looked at each other, then around at their people. A woman pushed Rick forward. "This," she said.
Jewel took a step forward not wanting any of them on their own. "We lead, together," she stated.
"Hi," Rick told the woman who walked forward. "I'm Rick, this is my wife, Jewel."
"We own your lives, you want to buy them back? Have anything?" the woman asked.
"Well, you have one of our people, Gabriel. I want to see him first, then we can talk," Rick said.
The woman nodded at the woman who pushed Rick forward.
"And you have a lot of our supplies," Jewel stated.
"The boat things you took, got taken," the woman said as Gabrielle was brought forward. Rick and Jewel both nodded at him. "Saw them, so we took the rest. And we took him."
"We noticed," Jewel stated.
"Well then you know we have nothing to buy back our lives with. That's what you'll have soon, nothing, because me and my people already belong to the group that took the supplies from the boat," Rick said. "They're called the Saviors. They own our lives," he explained. "And if you kill us, you'll be taking something from them, and they will come looking. You only have two options when it comes to the Savior's, either they kill you, or they own you. But there is a way out," Rick told her. "Join us. Join us in fighting them."
Jewel looked at Rick taking a breath before looking at the woman again. "No," the leader said with a small smirk and waved her hand up, them taking Gabriel back. Others begin to approach the members of the family, Rosita banging the one who went to grab her.
"Rosita No!" Aaron yelled before he was taken down.
Jewel flipped over her guy kicking him in his stomach disarming him.
"Everybody stop! Just wait!" Rick yelled causing Jewel to looking over at him.
"Let us go, or I will kill her," Gabriel said as he had a knife to another one of the enemies neck.
"Away from Tomel now," the leader said.
Jewel quickly bent down and grabbed the knife from her boot and pointed it the leader. "Everyone move away from my people now, or Gabriel will slit her throat and I will gut your leader before you have time to stop me."
"You will die," the woman told her.
"I will, but so will you. Or we can have a conversation like normal people. Which is it going to be?" Jewel asked calmly.
"The saviors' they have other places," Gabriel stated. "Other communities. They have things, food, weapons, vehicles, fuel, whatever you want the Savior's have it."
The woman lifted her arm and the people moved away. "Away from Tomel."
Gabriel looked at Rick and Jewel. Rick nodded at him. Gabriel dropped his knife into the pile. Jewel keeping hers by her side.
"Your words now," the leader stated.
"If you join us and we beat them together, you can have much of what's there's. Fighting with us you'll be rewarded, more than you can imagine," Gabriel said.
"Want something now," the leader told Gabriel.
"Rick can do anything. You just saw Jewel disarm one of your people, easily. And you did not find all of her weapons when you searched her, and you won't. This group, they found me, here, so far from our home. What do you need, just tell us, we'll get it for you. We'll show you what we can do," Gabriel told the leader. "Now."
"Tamiel, Brion, show Rick up up up," the leader said.
Jewel took a step forward before Rick stopped her. "I'll be fine," he assured her as he kissed her.
Jewel looked at Michonne and the others as he walked away and they were pushed to a makeshift waiting area.
"Here, sit," Gabriel told Aaron as he took out a handkerchief.
"Thanks, I'm OK," Aaron told him.
"Let him look at it," Jewel instructed him.
"Who are these people?" Rosita asked. "New best friends I guess?"
"Where are they taking him?" Michonne asked as she looked at Jewel.
A woman pointed with her knife up to a garbage heap, Jadis coming into view first.
Jewel and Rick locked eyes when he came into view. Rick turned and looked at Jadis for an explanation. "All of us, here since the change. We came, we don't bother, but things grow harder. We open cans, sometimes insides are rotten. Times passed, things are changing again. So maybe we change," she said as she looked at Rick. "Maybe." She walked closer to him. "Need to know you are real with this. And you're worth it," she said before shoving Rick down to the bottom.
"Rick!" Jewel yelled.
"What did you do?" Michonne demanded as the group ran to see if they could help.
"RICK! Can you hear me?" Jewel demanded.
Michonne saw him stand up from the hole she was looking out of. "I've got eyes on him. Rick!" she yelled.
"I'm alright," Rick said as he spotted Michonne. Jewel came to look at him.
"Rick!" Jewel yelled.
"I'm alright, I'm alright," Rick assured her as he looked around. He turned at the sound of a walker.
"Hells Bells," Jewel said as she saw the spiked walker.
Rick grabbed a keyboard off the trash pile, it breaking against the spikes.
"Let me watch, you don't have to," Michonne told Jewel.
"No, I have to," Jewel stated as Rick fought the walker. She could see that he was bleeding. "He's got nothing to fight with, he's getting chewed up."
"The walls! Use them!" Michonne ordered.
Rick listened as he started pushing trash down on the walker. The walker fell to the ground, Rick grabbed a rag and glass and started plunging it into the walker where he could, eventually killing him. He stood up and looked at Jadis. "You believe us now?" he screamed. "Just tell us what you want and we'll get it."
Rick looked up at her as a rope was dropped down. Rick pulled himself up, bleeding as he went.
"Guns," the woman said. "A lot. A lot. Then we fight your fight."
Rick nodded at the woman then looked down at his group and grinned. The woman let him go down to his people.
"Rick!" Jewel exclaimed as she ran toward him putting her arms around him.
"I'm OK, I'm OK," Rick assured her kissing the side of her head.
"You know we will win?" Jadis asked as she came down.
"Oh, I know it," Rick told her.
"After we get half of what's won," Jadis said.
"You'll get a third," Rick said. "And we're taking back what you just stole from us," Rick said.
"Half," Jadis repeated.
"A third," Rick told her.
"Half," Jadis repeated.
"If you say it again it will be a quarter," Jewel told her.
Rick laughed. "A third, final offer."
"A third and we keep what we stole," Jadis said.
"We need that, for the Savior's," Jewel told her.
Rick shook his head. "She's the better negotiator," he told Jadis as he nodded toward Jewel.
"Half of the jars," Jadis said. "The ones we took. One time, this time. Yes. Say yes."
Jewel glanced at Rick and nodded. "Yes," he said.
"And the guns," Jadis said.
"And the guns," Rick repeated.
Jadis went to shake Rick's hand but changed hands when he offered her his bloody hand. "Waited by the boat a long time," she said as she shook Jewel's hand. "Want something for it. So it's this. Jars and guns, guns and jars."
"You couldn't go and get it yourselves?" Jewel asked.
"We waited," Jadis repeated herself. "Long time. We take, don't bother."
"You had that thing down there for someone to prove themselves," Rick said.
"No his name was Winslow," Jadis said.
Both Rick and Jewel looked at her. "What were you going to do with Gabriel?" Rick questioned.
"Go. Deal expires. Soon," Jadis said.
"What's your name?" Rick questioned.
"Jadis," she answered as she walked away. The group of scavengers dropped the weapons that belonged to Rick's group and walked away.
"I'm going to have to look at that," Jewel said as they walked toward the others.
"Why did they let you come to me?" Rick asked kissing the side of her head.
"I can be demanding," Jewel answered.
"Yes you can," Rick answered as he laughed kissing her.
He leaned against the car with Gabriel as she bandaged his hand. "I heard something while I was on watch, inside the walls. I went into the pantry, one of them jumped me. She was angry because she didn't get the supplies off the boat after all the waiting. She made me pack up everything else. But she said they were at the boat so, I hoped," he told them.
"You didn't just hope, you got us here," Rick told him.
"We're just glad that you are alright, we were worried," Jewel said as she glanced at Rosita. "Well most of us were."
"I was beginning to lose faith," he admitted. "But then I saw you," he told them. "And you nodded at me. I mean, just the fact that you knew I didn't leave," he told them.
"You never would have left the girls, you aren't that person anymore," Jewel told him finishing up Rick's hand.
"You searched and you found me, that you saw these numbers, you seemed so glad. We will set things right," Gabriel told them. "But things are going to get very hard before that time. We have to hold on. I will, thank you."
Rick and Jewel nodded at him.
Gabriel looked at Rick. "What made you smile? You're so confident."
"Someone showed me enemies can become friends," Rick said as he put his hand on Gabriel's shoulder.
"We aren't there yet, not with Jadis and her group," Jewel warned. "Let's get out of here."
