Epilogue
A Little Ways Down the Road
It had been raining the day Booth proposed to Brennan. They got caught in a storm, and while they were trying to get cover under an awning, he'd gotten down on one knee and asked her to spend the rest of his life with him. They both got soaked as Brennan told him yes and threw herself into his arms and Booth spun her around, laughing.
Parker had been ecstatic. Of course, he'd helped to pick out the ring, so he'd kept the secret for a while until Booth asked. When they told everyone else, it was met with a bunch of "Hell, yes!" and "It's about time!" responses.
The day of their wedding, two months later, was a beautiful, sunny day. It was outside the Jeffersonian, which was fitting. Max was sitting up front with Russ and Russ's family, all of them smiling and happy. Parker was hanging onto their rings, standing proud and tall.
The ceremony went almost too quickly, but at the end, Booth and Brennan kissed each other passionately and then turned to grin at the crowd and hold their intertwined hands up in the air. Parker followed them back down the grassy aisle, and he threw himself into their arms once they were off to the side waiting to hug and shake hands with everyone. As Brennan and Booth hugged him tightly, his grin grew wider and wider. His sixth birthday wish had come true.
He'd finally gotten his happily ever after.
