A face popped into his mind. He shook his head, trying to get rid of the image, but it wouldn't leave. He knew it was against everything they both lived for; utterly forbidden, but - heart beating furiously, he approached her. A passing warmth let him know that this was his chance. He needed to tell her, just so she knew and he didn't live the rest of his life thinking 'what if'. She was a Jedi, so it wasn't like she could do anything about what he was about to tell her. She wasn't allowed to have any attachments, but Skywalker had Lady Amidala, so why couldn't Ahsoka have him? If she even cared about him at all that is. He doubted it. He was just a clone; why would someone as beautiful and incredible as her even notice him?
He breathed in deeply and opened his mouth to speak. "Ahsoka, I love you."
He took the leap of faith, and it was up to her to do whatever she wished with what he'd given her. She faced him and he knew her response immediately. Her eyes sparkled with undying joy and she leaned forward.
And kissed him.
. . .
She was in pure bliss. Rex loved her. Against everything going on, he loved her. Despite the fact that she wasn't allowed to love, he wanted her. Hearing her name on his lips made her flash with joy. She brought her hand up to his cheek and kissed him deeper. He was her first kiss; first love. Rex wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her closer. She was bursting with energy all of a sudden and needed to be with him more than anything. She quickly thanked the gods that they were already in a quiet room - Rex's room. She could not be caught with anyone like this. She took Rex by the hand. And walked him to the corner of the room and pressed it to her fluttering heart.
"Do you feel that?" her pulse continued racing. "That is my love for you. I would do anything for you - us."
Rex looked at her and she could feel him staring into her eternal soul. He brushed her cheek with a finger, tilted her face by her chin to meet his and kissed her again.
She wrapped her arms around his neck when she heard something from the door at the other side of the room. An intake of breath. She pulled away instantly, her mind rushing for excuses. When she saw who it was though, she relaxed ever so slightly. It was Cody.
"Wha…" Cody looked utterly dumbfounded. "What are you doing? You can't - you - what?!"
Rex's face was instantly flushed, but he dragged Cody into the room and shut the door. Cody, already recovered from his confusion, surveyed the room, and when he found what he was looking for, a datapad, and pulled it out from under a pile of hologram cases. Quickly flipping through it until he found the right page, he held it up so Rex could see it.
"Care to explain this?" It was an entry made a few days ago. Ahsoka doubted Rex could read it from where he was standing, but he seemed to know what it was about. When Rex didn't say anything Cody tossed it to Ahsoka. "Take a look at that." Rex made to grab it from him, but Ahsoka
She glanced down at the datapad. It had just a few entries but she only had to read the first line to understand what Cody meant. She turned it off and tossed it to Rex, who stuffed it in a drawer next to his bed.
Rex glared at Cody. "You had to show her that? Why?"
"I guess I feel like she needed to know everything, that's all." Cody shrugged.
"Yeah, whatever. Get out"
Cody shrugged again and turned on his heel. "See you later. If you're not too busy here…" his voice was thick with implications. The second he was out the door Rex slammed it close. His face was very red by now and Ahsoka couldn't help but feel slightly guilty.
"Ummm, sorry about that…" Rex started to say, but trailed off. He was looking at her so intensely that she began fidgeting.
"What?" Ahsoka wasn't usually nervous about anything, but he always had a way of doing just that. She couldn't help it sometimes.
"Nothing…" he trailed off again. "I'm just really glad you're here with me."
