It was a nice and sunny day in Pontypandy. Sam and Penny were upstairs in the fire station kitchen enjoying a nice cup of tea when Elvis, Arnold, and Ellie walked in. Elvis decided he was going to make another Shepherd's Pie for dinner tonight. Arnold was trying to fix his computer from home after he had some problems. Ellie was checking the First Aid Kit prior to the next Emergency.
Sam: "As you all know, Station Officer Steele went looking for some Teabags, so he has asked me to organize a training drill later."
Elvis: "Oh, I hope I get to go into the Smoke Room. I have never done that after you did Sam."
Sam: "Well, this one is different than the rest of them Elvis."
Penny was helping Ellie organize the Fire Station Medical Bay for the next time they need it. Not long until they finished, Sam walked in to remind them of something that Station Officer Steele had to tell them.
Sam: "Penny, Ellie; Station Officer Steele wanted me to tell you that Helen and Mike are out of town today except for Mandy, and Malcolm. So, I need you two in charge of medical emergencies."
Penny and Ellie at the same time: "Roger that Sam."
Back at the wholefish Café, Charlie was going out with Bronwyn today to America, but they don't know who will watch Sarah and James.
Charlie: "Bronwyn! We are going to be late for our flight. can you hurry up, please love?"
Bronwyn: "I am coming Charlie; I can't find anyone to look after Sarah and James while we are gone."
They both couldn't find anyone to look after the twins while they were on holiday. They know Helen and Mike are gone too, and Malcolm had his hands full while looking after Mandy. Her dad was busy back at the train station today while watching his dog Nipper.
Charlie: "Hmm. Maybe we should call my brother and see if he can look after them."
Bronwyn: "Oh, thank goodness for that. Charlie, you are always having ideas, don't you?"
Charlie: "I always do."
Bronwyn then pulled her phone out to call Sam and see if he can look after Sarah and James while they are away on Holiday. Back at the Fire Station, Sam's phone was ringing. He rushed over to where his phone was and answered.
Sam: "Hello."
Bronwyn: "Hi Sam, I was wondering if you can look after Sarah and James for me. Charlie and I are on Holiday in America, and I called my dad, but he was too busy today."
Sam: "Oh, I'll tell you what, I can definitely look after them for you while you are gone. I even have some help back at the station. You can definitely bring them here and I will keep an eye on them for you both."
Bronwyn: "Thanks Sam, I'll ask Trevor to bring them to you. I'll see you later. bye"
Trevor was on his way to take Charlie and Bronwyn to the airport, but they need to make a stop outside the Fire Station to drop off Sarah and James so Sam can look after them. As soon as they arrived, they all came off the bus to tell Sam how to reach them while they are in America. Sarah and James were collecting their bags from the bus, then they caught up with their parents so they can say hello to their Uncle Sam.
James: "Hello Uncle Sam."
Sarah: Hi Uncle Sam!"
Sam: "Oh, hello you two! I was waiting for the perfect time to spend while your mum and dad are on Holiday."
Charlie and Bronwyn walked over to say goodbye to them before they left for the airport.
Charlie: Now you two, be good to your Uncle Sam while we are gone, okay?"
Sarah and James: "Ok Dad."
Charlie and Bronwyn gave them both a hug before they were gone to the airport. Once they left Pontypandy, Sarah was wondering if she could join Norman and Mandy with Hannah at the Forest.
Sarah: "Uncle Sam. Is it ok if I go to the Forest with Norman, Mandy, and Hannah?"
Sam: "Sure, as long as you stay safe out there."
Sarah: "I will Uncle Sam. Don't worry."
Penny walked in past Sam after she helped James and Sarah unpack their bags. She went to the Garage to organize Venus before the next emergency. Elvis was upstairs attempting to cook the Shepherd's Pie, Arnold was still working on his computer, and Ellie was organizing Station Officer Steele's Office. Sam went out to organize Mercury, Jupiter, and Hydrus, he noticed Station Officer Steele walk in with a box of Tea Bags. Meanwhile, Sarah arrived at the Forest, and Norman, Mandy, and Hannah were waiting for her so they can think of a cool game to play.
Norman: "Right, what game do we want to play today?"
Mandy: "I know, we can play Hide and seek. I can make sure Hannah is in the game too."
Hannah: "Thanks, Mandy."
Sarah: "Ok. I am sure that I can win this time."
Norman: No way, I am the best Hider in all of Pontypandy."
Mandy: " Well, there's only one way to find out. Let's all find a Hiding Spot. I'm going to try and find you, and let's not hide anywhere dangerous like the Fire Station, Ok?"
Norman: "You're on!"
So, they went on to find the perfect Hiding spot. While they were playing Hide and Seek, Tom was checking Wallaby 2 for any problems before the next flight. Back at the Fire Station, Station Officer Steele was in his Office with Sam after he noticed James at the Station.
Steele: "Sam, why are they here? Charlie and Bronwyn should be with them at the Café."
Sam: I'm sorry, Sir. Charlie and Bronwyn were on Holiday in America and they left while you were looking for Teabags. Gareth couldn't look after them, and Malcolm is now on a call to Mrs. Chen's to investigate a recent emergency, and he has to look after Mandy while Helen and Mike are in Hawai'i."
Steele: "Oh, alright Sam. I will make sure they have a perfect place to sleep. Firefighters need somewhere to sleep too, so before Mike left, I asked him to build a place to sleep for you and the others."
Sam: "That's wonderful news, sir. Do you want me to make it a surprise for everyone?"
Steele: "Yes Sam. It is a surprise; I want to see what they think when they see this."
Sarah and Hannah found the perfect Hiding spot near the trees in the Forest, and if there is a Fire in the Forest, they have an easy way out. Norman was hiding out near the Well and he can be seen in a log.
Norman: "Ha, Ha! Mandy will never find me in here."
Mandy: "Where is Norman?"
Mandy then noticed an orange flame growing bigger near the Mountains and she might know that Sarah and Hannah were in there. So, she went to find Norman in the log.
Mandy: "Found you, Norman!"
Norman: "I thought I was the best Hider in all of Pontypandy."
Mandy: "Forget it, Norman. We have to leave because I can see Fire."
Norman: "Aaahh! Mandy, what are we going to do? Sarah and Hannah are still there!"
Mandy: "I can see them. There they are."
Sarah and Hannah were approaching where Norman and Mandy were as fast as they could, then there was trouble. Sarah had fallen on the ground and tripped over a rock and landed on her arm. This is the second time that happened since she fell down a ravine when Buck Douglas was in Pontypandy.
Hannah: "Are you ok Sarah?"
Sarah: "No, I think I've broken my arm."
Hannah: "Ok. I am just trying to see where it hurts the most. Does it hurt when I touch it?"
Sarah: "Only if I move it around."
Hannah: "Ok. Mandy, can you pass me a jacket so I can make a sling to keep it upright for Sarah."
Mandy: "I will, and now that the forest is on fire, I'm calling Fireman Sam!"
Back at the Station, Station Officer Steele was reading a Magazine when the Map Screen 700 went off. He rushed over to turn it on, and it shows the map of the Forest.
Map Screen: "There's a fire on Pontypandy Mountain."
Station Officer Steele pushed the button to activate the Fire Station alarm and read back over the microphone.
Steele: "There's a Fire on Pontypandy Mountain!"
Sam and the rest of the crew slid down the poles to get in their Firefighting uniforms and climb aboard Mercury, Jupiter, and Venus. Sam decided to call Tom Thomas.
Sam: "Tom, we got a fire on Pontypandy Mountain. We need Wallaby 2."
Tom: "Roger that Sam, on my way."
Within Minutes, Tom climbed into the Pilot's seat of Wallaby 2 and left the Mountain Rescue Center to get some water. Meanwhile, Mercury, Jupiter, and Venus were approaching the Forest. When they arrived, Sam could notice the sling on Sarah's left arm.
Mandy: "Sam, we were playing Hide and seek and then I saw the fire getting bigger, and Sarah had broken her arm."
Sam: "Ok, Mandy. I'll take care of the Fire. Ellie, can you and Penny take care of Sarah while Arnold, Elvis, and I fight the Fire?"
Ellie, Penny, Arnold, and Elvis: "Roger that Sam."
Sam (over radio): "Tom, are you ready?"
Tom (over radio): "Nearly, Sam. Just loading up with some water."
While the fire was being put out by the hoses from Jupiter and Venus, PC Williams pulled in to make sure that Mandy was ok, and he could know what happened.
Malcolm: "Mandy, are you ok?"
Mandy: "I'm fine Uncle Malcolm, but I don't think Sarah can be able to provide a statement. I can tell you exactly what happened."
Malcolm: "Ok, Mandy, you can tell me, and I will make sure Fireman Sam gets the message."
While Mandy was telling her uncle everything that happened, Ellie and Penny were checking Sarah's broken arm over by Venus.
Ellie: "Sarah, can you feel the pain when you move your arm?"
Sarah: "Yes."
Ellie: "Can you feel my fingers moving on your arm?"
Sarah: "Yes."
Penny: "Sarah, on a scale of 1 to 10, how would you know your level of pain?"
Sarah: "7"
Penny: "Ok, I"m going to get something to help with the pain. It may hurt, but it won't hurt for long, Ok?"
Sarah: "Ok. Will I need like a ride in a Helicopter or Ambulance to the hospital?"
Penny: "Don't worry Sarah. I think we can take you to the Hospital in Venus. Ellie, as soon as I take care of this, can you let Sam know you're taking her to Newtown Hospital?"
Ellie: "Ok, Penny."
Penny went over to the right side of Venus to grab the First Aid Kit. Hannah decided to tell Ellie that she first made that sling out of Mandy's jacket and that Sarah tripped over a rock and landed on her arm. After Penny comes back with the first aid kit, Ellie asks Hannah if she can keep Sarah company while Mandy and Norman talk to PC Williams.
Penny: "Ok, Sarah. Are you ready?"
Sarah: "Yes. I'm ready."
Penny: "One, Two, Three."
Ellie: "There we go. Feeling a little better now Sarah?"
Sarah: "Yes. My arm still hurts, but not as bad as it is now"
Ellie: "Ok, that's good."
Sam, Arnold, and Elvis were fighting the fire when they can finally hear the engines of Wallaby 2 overhead. Sam and Arnold were getting clear of the area while Tom drops a huge load of water over the fire. Soon, the Fire was out. Arnold and Elvis were putting away the hoses when Sam walked over to Malcolm to talk to Norman Price who looked a little worried that he caused the Fire.
Sam: "Norman, what happened there?"
Norman: "Sorry, Fireman Sam. We were playing hide and seek. I was only by where Mandy was in that Log right there."
Sam: "Ok. So, this means that you did not cause the Fire."
Malcolm: "Sam. Mandy told me that Norman was hiding in a Log and she noticed the flames in the distance. We may have a mystery on our hands."
Sam: "Thanks, Malcolm."
Sam reached for his radio to tell Station Officer Steele the good news and bad news after Malcolm had told him what Mandy said.
Sam (over radio): "Fireman Sam to Station Officer Steele."
Steele (over station radio): "Go ahead, Sam."
Sam (over radio): "Hello sir, I have some good news and bad news for you. The good news is that everyone is safe, and the fire is out."
Steele (over radio): "Oh, great work Sam. What's the bad news?"
Sam (over radio): "Sarah has a broken arm, and we have a mystery as to how the fire started."
Steele (over radio): "Ok. I'll make sure that we find out how the fire started. I'll put a call to HQ as soon as possible."
Sam (over radio): "Ok sir, understood. Over, and out."
Sam was just putting his radio away on his Uniform when Ellie walked over to him.
Ellie: "Sam, I'm taking Sarah up to the hospital in Venus, because Hannah told me that she tripped over a rock and landed on her arm."
Sam: "alright Ellie. Drive carefully."
Ellie: "I will Sam."
Ellie went back to help Sarah climb into Venus and fasten her seatbelt, then they drove off in Venus to Newtown Hospital. When they arrived outside the Hospital, security measures were different after a few police emergency callouts. A Security officer approached as Venus stopped at the Entry gate.
Security: "Hello."
Ellie: "Hi."
Security: "What brings you here?"
Ellie: "I have a child here who has broken her arm, and I was on the scene of a fire at the same location as the Injury."
Security: "Does her family know that she is here?"
Ellie: "Yes. Her Uncle is a Firefighter in Pontypandy."
Security: "Ok, and What is your name?"
Ellie: "My name is Ellie Phillips."
Security: "Ok. I can have you park at the Fire Service Car park. See those signs over there? Look for the Fire Service Logo and Vehicle name on the sign. Have a nice day."
Ellie: "Thank you."
Ellie parked in the designated Fire Service parking spot and helped Sarah out of Venus, then they walked to the Emergency Room and checked in with the Reception.
Receptionist: "Hello, how can I help you today?"
Ellie: "I have a child who tripped over a rock and landed on her arm as they were leaving the forest because of a Fire."
Receptionist: "Ok, can I get a name for the Child, please?"
Ellie: "Sarah Jones."
Receptionist: "Ok, and is there anyone in her family that I need to know we can file in the System?"
Ellie: "Yes, it's her Uncle Samuel Jones."
Receptionist: "Alright, and I am correct that her mum and dad are Charlie and Bronwyn Jones, correct?"
Ellie: "Yes. Unfortunately, they are in America on holiday right now. I will let them know when they return."
Receptionist: "Ok, that's all fine. Can I get your name please?"
Ellie: "Yes. My name is Ellie Phillips."
Receptionist: "Ok, have you got any ID on you?"
Ellie: "I do."
Receptionist: "alright, and I have printed out the Bracelet for Sarah. You can put it on the arm that is not broken, and here is the paperwork you need to fill out, and when done, you can bring it to me, and then the Doctor will be with you soon."
Ellie: "Ok, Thank you."
Receptionist: "No Problem"
Ellie went to the waiting area where Sarah was sitting and sat next to her with the Bracelet and paperwork. Once the paperwork is finished and returned, it took a while because there were 10 people ahead of them. At last, it was their turn. A nurse opened the door and called Sarah's name.
Nurse: "Sarah Jones?"
Ellie: "Yes, that's us."
Nurse: "Hi, how are you?"
Ellie: "we're doing good."
Nurse: "Good. Hi Sarah, I am Amy, and I will take very good care of you. Ok?"
Sarah: "Ok."
Nurse Amy: "Can you tell me your name, please?"
Ellie: "I'm Ellie Phillips, I am a Firefighter from Pontypandy."
Nurse Amy: "Alright, and do you know anyone at the Station?"
Ellie: "Yes, Her Uncle Samuel Jones."
Nurse Amy: "I'm sorry, are you talking about Fireman Sam?"
Ellie: "Yes."
Nurse Amy: "Ok. Right now, I would like to check you over, and then the Doctor can check your arm. Ok, Sarah?"
Sarah: "Ok, I'm good with that Idea."
Nurse Amy: "Good. I'm happy you like that idea."
Nurse Amy proceeded to check Sarah's height and Weight and then completed the paperwork for the Doctor to look over. Once complete, she proceeded to help Sarah get comfortable on a Hospital bed.
Nurse Amy: "Ok. I will be right back. The doctor will be with you as soon as possible."
Ellie: "Ok. We'll be waiting."
Ellie started to read a magazine for the fittest Firefighters in Wales, among those firefighters were Chief Fire Officer Boyce from Newtown and Penny representing Pontypandy. She was hoping that she could be in the magazine sometime in the future. Ellie was still reading until the curtain had opened.
Nurse Amy: "Ok, I am back with Doctor Alexander from America, because we have a storm heading for Newtown in about 2 hours and I want you to be able to get home as soon as possible. Ok?"
Ellie: "Great. That means I can get home in time for dinner."
Nurse Amy: "Good, I'm glad to hear that. Jordan, Good Luck."
Jordan: "Hi, I'm Doctor Alexander, and I am going to take great care of you. What's your name?"
Ellie: "Ellie Phillips."
Jordan: "Ok, and can I get her name, please?"
Ellie: "Yes, Sarah Jones."
Jordan: "Alright, Sarah, can you tell me what happened?"
Sarah: "I was in the Forest with my friends when I noticed that there was fire, and when we were leaving, I tripped over a rock and landed on my arm."
Jordan: "Oh, I see. Have there been any other problems with her?"
Ellie: "No, but I had to arrive at their location because I am a Firefighter and I have her Uncle as part of my crew."
Jordan: "Ok. Did you notice the injury while there?"
Ellie: "Yes, her friends made a sling out of the jacket as we arrived."
Jordan: "Ok. I just checked her arm, and it is broken, but I am going to need an X-ray. Ok?"
Ellie: "Ok. I am happy to know we be on our way home soon."
Ellie and Sarah went up to X-Ray with Jordan and they soon found out that she was from San Antonio, Texas in America. They later came back from X-Ray with results to show it is broken. Sarah had a cast put on her left arm, and she chose the color blue because it's her Uncle Sam's favorite color. After a 30-minute trip to the Hospital, Sarah and Ellie collected the paperwork for Sam and drove Venus back to Pontypandy before the Storm hit Newtown. Soon, they reached the Pontypandy Fire Station. Ellie parked Venus and helped Sarah up the stairs and into the Kitchen where Sam, Penny, James, and Station Officer Steele were waiting at the Table.
Sam: "Well, I can say that you were right Ellie, it is broken indeed."
Ellie: "Thanks, Sam. I have paperwork for you, Charlie, and Bronwyn"
James: "Will mum and dad know about this Uncle Sam?"
Sam: "They will James, I can call them later."
Penny: "Did you hear about the Storm in Newtown Ellie?"
Ellie: "Yes, I did, they said we needed to get it checked and put in a cast before it rains."
Steele: "Well, I can see Elvis and Arnold finished their dinner before they left."
Sam: "Yes sir. I think it's time I called Charlie."
Sam called Charlie, while James was playing his video game on the bean bags and Sarah was resting her arm on the Sofa with Ellie and Penny. Charlie answered the Phone in America.
Charlie: "Hi Sam. I'm glad you called. Everything alright?"
Sam: "Yes, but there was a Fire on Pontypandy mountain and Sarah tripped over a rock and broken her arm."
Charlie: "Ouch. Well, I hope she gets better soon. We are in San Antonio, Texas after arriving in Dallas-Fort Worth."
Sam: "Me too. Well, tell Bronwyn what I told you. Oh, and tell her I said hi."
Charlie: "I will Sam. Bye."
Sam: "Bye."
After Sam called Charlie, Ellie walked over with Sarah to tell Sam that they were tired and need somewhere to sleep. Sam and Station Officer Steele had already surprised them with the new Sleeping Quarters for the firefighters and their families. Ellie and Sarah later went to bed.
