Oliver's POV
They returned to Nanda Parbat that night. Oliver was unable to find a free moment to speak to Al Owal before they had left. Instead, he spent the few hours with the other initiates going overtraining.
It wasnt until the evening after their return that he found a good moment to talk to Al Owal. As expected he got lectured.
"What the hell were you thinking, Al Sahim? You are just an initiate not even a full-fledged member of the League and you decide to go off on your own?! If you were anyone else I'd put you on the wall!"
If he was anyone else that would probably terrify him. Instead, a thrill went through him. Not just because the wall was a place he went to, to think. But because Al Owal cared enough to lecture him.
By his own reactions that were instinctive, he knew that those were few and far between. Being up high suited him better than being on the ground. There was something soothing about being able to overlook all the things around him.
Al Owal sighed tiredly and questioned, "How is your arm?"
Oliver said with a small smile, "It's fine no lasting damage. Our liege surprised me. He asked for permission to court me."
In the corner of Oliver's eye, he saw his mentor stiffen. His mentor didnt look at him for a moment. Unlike other people, Al Owal didnt seem to be happy for him.
Al Owal asked, "Did you agree, Al Sahim?"
"Yes. Honestly, I was surprised when he showed an interest. I never considered it to be a possibility because of my lack of memories."
A touch of a smile touched the alpha's lips as he said, "Our liege always did enjoy mysteries. He would be a good alpha for you Al Sahim. Tough but fair. And there is nothing more that he values more than family."
Oliver ran a hand through his hair which was getting longer than he would have liked. As much as he wanted to believe those words he couldn't. Something in him could not believe that someone would cherish a person like him.
Maybe it was because of the folder that spoke of a dark past. Maybe it was his lack of memories. Either way, he did consider himself a viable mate for someone. Especially not for someone like Ra's.
He was just an amnesiac without anything to give. What did the man see in him?
A hand hit the back of his head. Oliver rubbed where he had been hit and turned to glare at his mentor.
The man snapped, "None of that Al Sahim. I can see how your mind is turning. You doubt yourself because you can't remember who you are. If that counted for anything our liege would not have asked you."
Oliver paused looking at the man noting the pain. Wait... he didnt? He did. His mentor felt the same feelings that Ra's did.
If Oliver was truthful with himself both men calmed him. Though they were both possessive as hell so they would never share.
Oliver questioned wanting to know if he was right, "Were you going to ask as well?"
Al Owal turned his head to the side his hazel eyes meeting Oliver's blue-grey. There was a pain in the hazel eyes that cut right through his soul.
The alpha said reaching out to clasp him on his shoulder, "It wouldn't work as long as I am your mentor. It is against the League code. It will be months before Ra's will make you a full-fledged member."
So that's why he didnt try to ask Oliver. He was following the League's code. Something that he would be following before long.
Months was what Al Owal had said. He thought it would take longer for him to be accepted. Maybe it was because of his previous training. The training that wasnt much good with his mind as fractured as it was. Then again just maybe Ra's would be able to help pick up the pieces.
Al Owal sighed, "He is going to wait for you to come to him first. It's a tradition from where hes from and the time period. Wait for a few days then approach him. Until you do he won't touch or approach you unless absolutely necessary."
That was an odd tradition. Then again it could be worse. As long as the man wasn't hellbent on controlling everything then he would be okay. At least he hoped it would.
Al Sayf's POV
Finding the newest omega of the League in his quarters was not the strangest thing that had ever happened to him. It did come close and it had been a long time since he had to stand in the doorway staring dumbly.
Questions ran through his mind. Why in the hell was Al Sahim in his quarters? He was not in the mood to deal with moody initiates right now.
He questioned bitingly, "What are you doing here Al Sahim?"
There was a pained flinch that came from the man. Slowly the blond turned to face him. Al Sayf froze at the sight of uncertainty in the blue-grey eyes. He could have sworn he fixed this weeks ago. What was the problem now?
Al Sahim answered his tone betraying his uncertainty, "I've been asked to court someone of the League."
Al Sayf blinked in surprise. Whatever he had been expecting that was not it. Courting within the League wasn't unheard of. Though it was still rare for those not yet full members.
Al Sayf was not blind to the looks that Al Owal sent the boy. The younger alpha was biding his time waiting for Al Sahim to be a full-fledged member. The other would not go against League Law.
In turn that meant that it could not be the younger alpha causing so much uncertainty. So who set their sights on the young omega and in turn risking the wrath of Al Owal.
There was only one way to find out. So he went over to the kitchen and started a pot of tea for them. He noted the way the omega shifted in relief. It was clear he thought he was going to be thrown out.
As annoyed as he was he invited Al Sahim here and left it as an open invitation. It just surprised him that the other had come so soon. That and he was not having a good.
Once tea was made he poured both of them a cup. Then ordered, "Alright Al Sahim who is risking your mentor's wrath?"
