Oliver couldn't believe it. Two days had passed but he still couldn't believe it. He was in the Avengers tower in New York. He was in one of the places he couldn't even dream of seeing, not to mention being there. He knew Tony Stark before the island. He had read for him, knew what his business was but when he came back he found out he had become Iron Man. A person who fought for people, who fought aliens and a person who had a lovely, beautiful, smart daughter.
Of course nobody knew about Felicity and Oliver was really impressed. He knew that it should have been so hard to hide and of course he admired Felicity and Tony for that.
He wanted to know more, wanted to ask Felicity how was it, when she was little, all the good and the bad that had happened, all the funny and sad things, but he was scared.
He was scared of talking to her, of getting to know her, of getting fond of her. And of course of loving her. He was scared that if they got closer something would happen to her.
But he couldn't help it. He couldn't just back away. He had to tell her. This time for real. He had to tell her that he loved her and he had to do it now. As soon as he could.
It was 5 am and Oliver decided to wonder around the house. Uhm sorry, tower, no maybe just this floor. It was hard for him to get used to this.
He went to the kitchen and made a coffee. As he was cleaning the machine he heard footsteps. His immediate reaction was to reach for his bow, but this time it wasn't there.
As the footsteps became louder he saw a silhouette of a tall man. He grab the first thing he saw (which was a fork) and prepared.
"Good morning!" Steve said as he entered the kitchen. He saw Oliver holding a fork and made a funny face.
"Sorry, I'm not used to hearing footsteps" he put his big and scary weapon in the sink "Whenever I hear something back in Starling City I think someone bad is going to try to kill me." Oliver smiled. Steve just nodded and went to the coffee machine.
As he was preparing his coffee Oliver was watching him carefully. And now Oliver could fully understand how the stupid machine work.
"So when the lamp blinks is ready, right? I'm not too good at this things, you know? There were so many new things for just 5 years, I barely could get used to touchscreens , I can only imagine what a 70 years would feel like." Oliver said trying to make a conversation.
"Yeah, it was hard but then I had some pretty good teachers." Steve said and with that he had shown him that he would be glad if Oliver didn't start a conversation.
Some time has passed. Both of them drinking coffee and Steve reading the paper like a grandpa (which he was) and Oliver looking at his phone.
"Oh my God, what the hell are you doing up at this time of the day for fucking sake?" Tony said as he entered the kitchen and went directly at the coffee machine.
Oliver looked at his clock – it was 6 am. And if he would judge by Felicity (who wanted to sleep like at least 13 hours a day but staying late with him and Digg she then in the morning would like to talk about how she would sleep only 5 hours and she would like to just hug the pillow and sleep) her father was the same.
"And why the hell would you be up this early, Tony?" Steve asked.
"Steve, please, I'm going to bed now. Oh my God, I am going to die with a pillow in my hands." As he said that he drank the coffee on one gulp. Yep, just like Felicity would say. "Anyway, are you reading the fucking paper?" Oliver tried really hard to hide his smile. "God, use a smartphone, please. I've had enough of this shit today. Good to talk to you Oliver." He joked as he passed him. Then he stopped and looked at him. "Don't tell me you go jogging too, like some kind of.. even I don't know what to compare it with. Fucking brain." With that he went to his room.
"Sometimes he does that. When his brain isn't working properly from the lack of sleep." Steve said. "Anyway, I'm going for a jog, coming?"
Oliver was shocked. Steve had shown him that he didn't want to have a conversation with him and now he was asking to join him on his run.
Actually, Oliver could understand him. He lost Felicity and now, when she was back, she came with two men. But it wasn't Steve's place to judge.
And this was not how Oliver imagined Captain America. Everything that Oliver had ever heard about him was that he was nice, and kind, and sweet and so much more. And now he was giving him the cold shoulder.
Oliver really didn't know what to say but he would be glad to steam some energy off and to be honest, if he turned that offer down and go by himself, he wouldn't know a place for a jog. So he just nodded and walked behind him.
Steve and Oliver went to Central park because it was like 5 minutes away from the building. Steve was trying to figure out how exactly to start the conversation he wanted to have with Oliver. Instead Oliver was the first to break the silent.
"Felicity told me about the twins. The boy was fast, right?"
"Yes, he has a increased metabolism. I was told that he was really fast."
"Well, we have a friend that is living in Central City. He was struck by lightning a couple of months ago. He was in coma for two months and he recently woke. I believe that he has, if not the same, then slightly different powers."
„Is that the Flash guy everyone in Central City keep talking about? You know him?" Steve said concerned.
„Well yes, um, I can say that he is my friend but he is closer to Felicity." Oliver said calmly.
"Hm." Of course Steve tought why wouldn't be closer to Felicity. How many new superhero friend did Felicity found?
"Let's have race?" Oliver just nodded. They began running around The Lake. Steve looked back and saw Oliver behind him.
This would give him time to think. Think about some things that were stopping him from falling asleep.
When he woke from the ice and found that he was in 2010 he was shocked. He missed his old life, his friends, his Peggy.. He felt lonely and angry at the whole world. But then Fury had met him with Tony Stark. He was one brilliant man that wanted to help Steve. And the other person who helped him was no other than Felicity Meghan Stark.
She was one of the most beautiful girls he had met. She was also kind and so very smart. Oh, God, Steve was doomed. He knew that he couldn't let his feelings out because, one: she was the daughter of the man who helped him and let him stay in his house. Two: she was so young, not that she was like 16 but compared with him, she was young.
And now this situation. The Oliver situation happened. He had to give up on her, but he simply couldn't. He loved her, but in the end of the day it was a good thing that Felicity found someone, that she wouldn't be alone. The only thing that bothered him was that it was Oliver. Couldn't she just fall for someone ordinary.
Of course not, she was Felicity.
So, as he was already finishing his first lap he was shocked that Oliver was on the half of it. He was way faster than Sam, but still was not fast as Steve was. As he was approaching Oliver, Steve moved to his left and said his favorite line
„On your left!" and he passed him. He then turn back to see Oliver but he couldn't see him. Steve stopped and looked around. A few seconds after he heard Oliver shouting „In front of you".
Steve looked around and saw Oliver running. Oh, he was smart, but he wasn't as fast as Steve. He started running and shortly after he caught up with him.
„Nice try, Oliver" Steve said and stop to take a breath.
„Yeah, thanks, they say you're old, but I've never seen a grandpa running like this" Oliver smiled and Steve laughed.
„Oh thank you, you're very polite"
„You know, I'm not famous with being polite"
Oliver was just getting out of the shower when he heard his phone buzz. It was someone named „best archer ever" and the text was
„Hey, second or third best archer ever, or whatever, wanna hang out and find how much better I am than you? Meet me in the training facility on the 67th floor. Kisses, Clinty! *"
Okay, Oliver could say that now he understands Felicity. On the flight to New York she said that they were just a bunch of kids with computers, shields and armor.
He smiled once more when he saw the selfie that was on the bottom of the text. It was Barton sending him a kiss. He dressed up and took his bow. He figured they would have arrows there, but he took his quiver too. Then texted Digg and told him to meet him at 67th floor.
In Oliver's opinion Digg would very much appreciate this event.
Oh God, this would be interesting.
Before he head out to the 67th floor Oliver sat on the bed and started thinking? Would it be much of a trouble if he asked Felicity out? Tonight? Oh, fuck it! Oliver thought.
"Hi! Your family is messed up! Would you like to go out tonight and maybe you could tell me more about them over dinner? And I am also headed down to 67th floor to see if mr. Barton is better than me."
It wasn't like him to be honest with girls or sent them texts like this. But fuck it, it was Felicity, and she, better than anyone else, would understand him, completely.
As he was going to the 67th floor he ran into Thor. Could this get more awkward please?
„Oh hi, son of Queen. I am more than happy that I see you! How are you today?" Thor said with a bright smile.
„Hi, uhm, son of Odin. Glad to see you too! I am headed down to your training facility on 67th floor. I was challenged. By Clint"
„Oh, you can call me Thor, there is no need for this. But, if you don't mind, of course, I would like to watch as the fate is written and the best archer have been chosen!" Thor said with a bigger smile. Well, there was no chance to refuse to a demigod, right?
"Of course, of course!" Said Oliver and both went to the elevator.
When the elevator's door opened and both stepped on the floor Oliver was amazed. There was everything you could think of when you imagine training and it could been here. He also saw Digg, Black Widow and Steve, along with Barton waiting for him. Well, this would be a hell of a competition.
When she woke up it was like 8 am. What? 8 am, she had more than 3 hours sleep. Hell, she had like 7 hours. For one night. This was amazing. She couldn't exactly remember when and how she fell asleep and where exactly. She remembered talking to Steve, and then someone carried her to her bedroom. She couldn't tell if she was dreaming or it happened for real but she kind of remember that she told Oliver she was pissed at him.
She smiled to herself and got up. She went to her bathroom, it was amazing to be in her old bathroom (that was way bigger than her bedroom in Starling) again.
She missed this. She couldn't lie. But it was good in Starling too. She had made friends, she had a job (although now with QC on the line she didn't know what they would do) and she had a cozy little apartment which was enough. But she missed New York. And she missed her family. And she missed her father.
She had coughed up in her thoughts as she realized she had been in the shower for more than 30 minutes without doing anything apart from just enjoying the hot water.
Felicity dressed. She had a hard time deciding what to wear, so she finally made up her mind and put on the pink T-shirt with the gold Irob Man's mask on it and some skinny jeans. God, she had put on some weight.
Anyway, she was home, so she put her Uggs and went straight to the kitchen. She had gained weight, but she was really hungry, and she didn't care.
In the kitchen she found Bruce and her father drinking coffee and talking about something.
"Good morning, my little princess!" her dad said as he stood from the chair and went to hug her and kiss her on the cheek.
"Geez, dad, if I had known that you would act like a hectic father that had just hold his daughter for the firs time, I would never come back." Felicity joked.
"Pumpkin, please. Let the dad be happy for just one morning, I promise, tomorrow I will continue with my grumpiness. But I have slept for 2 and a half hours and I am full with energy!" Tony said as he was pouring her a cup of coffee.
"In fact, I saw your ex cutie wit your future to be cutie this morning drinking coffee together. What would you comment?" Tony said, acting like a child because he could never be serious when it comes to parenting. Except maybe when he is mad, or angry… or want to kill somebody.
"First" Felicity said annoyed "Steve is not my ex cutie, and Oliver is not my future cutie, please dad, you are grown up, start acting like one. Second, I am glad that they had coffee together, they are very alike and I thing they should at least try to be on good terms. And lastly.. Good morning Bruce!" Felicity smiled at the doctor.
"Yes, you are right, baby doll, I am sorry for acting like a child, but you have to understand that for the first time in like 3 years my sweet baby girl walks in the kitchen and says good morning!"
"Yeah, okay, fine. But stop with the stupid nicknames, please!" Felicity smiled
"Oh no chance, my sweet little bambi!" Tony said smiling and hugging her. In return he felt a fist in his shoulder.
