Author's note: Hey everyone, I am back. I had a brief hiatus because I was dealing with college and personal life. I know I should've updated a Harry Potter chapter, and The Amazing Spider-Man chapter, and I am still working on it. I had a couple of redos, that it made me on hold on posting it. I am starting one-shots of my favorite comic couple, Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson, so here it is. I hope you accept my apology, and I will update the chapters soon.
Late
Peter Benjamin Parker is frustrated, he can bench press two elephants, can leap from one building to another, and can take several punches from Rhino the other week, but this 'date' took a toll on him. What's more frustrating that this is the same 'date' his aunt had set him up, and the same person he had met a couple of days ago, while he was just daydreaming a certain blonde head! If it comes to being a superhero, Peter could excel on that, without a doubt, but when it comes to dating, and having a social life? he knows zilch of social life, hence his torture years om high school, and with the biggest jock/stupid Flash Thompson.
He looks himself in the mirror and combed countless times, but to no avail, this is the time where he will set the action which his aunt had made, once and for all. He can hear the loud, and vibrant sound of Mary Jane, question is, will he survive the wrath of Gwen? given if she did in fact return the feelings he had been developing for her, only time will tell.
"So Peter. I have heard from May that you have earned a scholarship in ESU isn't it?" Anna Watson asked in a humble, and cheerful tone. Peter coughs slightly, because of the extreme closeness of Mary Jane to him, so much that he can observe the vibrant Red hair and the dashing green eyes. What was the question miss Watson asking? God, I hate myself. "Peter" The soft sound of Anna Watson trying to bring him back to reality, but he just can't help but think about what he will do with that soft red hair, that he desperately wants to touch. "Peter!" the loud, but the controlled sound of Aunt May brought him back. "Oh! I am sorry, Aunt May. To answer your question Mrs. Watson, yes I have enrolled as a freshman with the scholarship" Peter tried to answer with a confident tone but failed, due to his sloppy, slight nervous tone, and he can hear the soft giggle from Mary Jane behind him. Damn that woman and her beautiful face. No Parker, it is Gwen, you can't do this again. The last time you were focused on a relationship was with Betty and turns out Liz Allan had a crush on you the whole time, It is just a platonic date, not more, not less. "I knew you would earn that credit Peter, May told me how hardworking you are, I know it must be tough for both of you with Ben gone. I miss his charisma, and his cheerful mode." Anna Watson said with a somber tone. They all laid back with a silent prayer for the man who had shaped his life forever.
The meeting ended quickly, and the Watsons were bidding farewell, except Mary Jane who was hugging Peter for longer than a minute, and Peter was intoxicated in euphoria by her strawberry smell from her hair. "It is nice to finally meet the Amazing Peter Parker." Mary Jane said with a big grin. "To you as well Mary Jane" Peter mumbles that made her divine giggle appear. "Let's meet again, formally. I know a restaurant in Manhattan, Let's say on Saturday?" Mary Jane asks. What's with this woman? asking me for a second date? I thought I already did the deed. "Y..yes Saturday it is, W..what day it is?" Peter slightly stutters. "It is Thursday silly, tomorrow will be a party Harry is doing, You know the pompous, rich party" Mary Jane makes a mock posh sound. Both of them laughed quite a bit, and then they made a final hug, which she left. Peter kept whistling a bit, He does like her, but not in a deep way, if only Gwen was this cheerful, well he does blame his cocky attitude, by cold-shouldering her, because he was focusing on saving Aunt May, by finding the dreaded isotope, and a hefty battle against Doc Ock. Yep, it is a platonic date. Peter keeps reminding himself.
Friday swept like a wind, It was also a lousy day, with the news surfacing of the escape of Rhino. Peter spent half of a day, subduing the raging animal, no pun intended. He leaped onto his room and collapsed onto his soft bed, bloody and bruised. It wasn't until the sound of Aunt May knocking on the door, and Peter panics, with his full-frontal Spider-Man suit, minus the mask, Peter jumps quick and opens the door with a cheesy smile. "I am fine Aunt May, I am," Peter said. "Oh goodness gracious, what happened to you?" Aunt May asked with a worried tone. Shoot, I forgot that my face looks like a bloated fish, think Parker, think! "I... I was cornered by street thugs and got beaten" Lame Parker. "I told you not to wander alone, let me bring the salves, and essential oils," Aunt May said. Peter finds himself nodding a bit robotically, and fell into his bed with a sigh of relief. God, he loves this woman, He had enough worry when she was ill, not with his big secret, surfacing. For once he wants something that could keep him and her happy, if only. Aunt May came back in a hurry and brought a chunk of salves with her. "I hope you rest because you must be attending the party the nice boy Mr. Osborn has made." Aunt May said. Shoot! I am late! Peter suddenly jumps a bit acrobatically, luckily she did not seem to notice his posture. "I will bring the salves with me, Aunt May, I just realized that the party is now, got to go, bye" Peter lamely said, by giving her a kiss on the cheek, and then closed the door slightly harshly.
Swinging all the way to the Osborn Suite in Manhattan is quick and simple. Peter saw the bustling traffic jam, and he was glad that he was gifted. He found a damp alley, a good spot to change back as Peter Parker. He checked one more time, and there were no humans in sight. Phew. Peter skims throughout the large hotel that towers the area. No wonder the Osborns were rich, Peter never questions their wealth, He was just studiously trying to avoid them, with their pompous attitude, but Harry was different than the great Norman Osborn. Peter did like Norman's genius mind and his philanthropy. To meet again, must be like attending the noble prize award.
The elevator to room 163 was long and awkward because Peter dresses cheaply albeit the expensive suits, and the aristocrat looks like the rich men and their teenage sons. Peter felt a bit envious, but it wasn't a huge thing, He is happy for his way of life, He will never give up that virtue his uncle has installed on him. The awkwardness finally ended, and he felt his jaw slackened by the look of the suite. It must be the whole neighborhood of Forest Hills, filled with expensive artifacts, carpets, and drinks that cost more than the mortgage of Forest Hills combined. Peter gulps a bit, and he grows nervous slightly. Unfortunately, Harry spotted him and ushered him to join with Gwen and Mary Jane who were beside Harry. Both wore stunningly, and both wore the matching color of their eyes, although Mary Jane's dress is a bit scandalous that fits her fiery look, Gwen's more of a modest, but still attractive, that made Peter's heart leap uncontrollably.
"There he is, the late Peter Parker" Gwen said. Peter finds himself blushing furiously. "Sorry I am late guys, I was having a rough day," Peter said. For some reason, Peter senses the warm hand of Mary Jane on his face. "W. What happened tiger? you look like you had been knocked out by the bus?" Mary Jane quips the four of them laugh, and Peter was lucky that his bloated face, were slightly recovering. "I was cornered by street thugs, and so I tried to reason them, but I got beaten," Peter said. "Why didn't you call me?" Harry asks with genuine concern. "Even me Peter, you know my father is a Captain, and he can finish the thugs in a quick of time" Gwen offered with her sweet puppy dog eyes. I appreciate your sentiment guys, I really do, but how can I tell you that I was actually getting ass kicked by the Rhino, without endangering my secret identity. For some reason, Mary Jane did not speak, nor comment her usually wits. It is almost like she sort of knows my intentions, not it cannot be, because I would be spitting actual evidence. "I am fine guys, I am. Thanks for inviting me, Harry." Peter said. "Enjoy the party ladies and gentlemen, I must be going, I have to shake hands with my father's companions," Harry said.
The party was actually good, and Peter did enjoy the expensive food, but he feels tired, from the evasive blow, and so he bids them farewell, and then went to the elevator, before he clicks the ground floor, there stood Mary Jane, with her leather jacket that inhibits her attractive body, and the luscious green dress. They were silent for a moment, and then Mary Jane finally spoke. "You will be late again to the dating tiger?" Mary Jane smirks. The way she says those words sent an alarming sense toward Peter. thankfully it wasn't a spider-sense. "No red, I will not be late, Like I told you, it was just a stupid ruse, It will never happen again," Peter said. She seems to be bought for his lame excuse, and she smiles again. The elevator stopped, and she kissed his cheek. "Wear like this tiger, you look sexy." Mary Jane whispered, and she left with sway on her hips that made Peter's heart leap in joy. Yep, it is a platonic date alright.
Author's note: This is based on the Amazing Spider-Man issue 42, with the iconic 'Face it tiger, you just hit the jackpot' The next chapter would be a different one-shot, so it will be random one-shots to the favorite couple.
