Decided to write a Re: Zero fan fiction since I was bored, thanks for checking this out!

Time: A few days after the Wolgram fight

Place: The mansion

The sky was covered in a veil of darkness; there was a tranquil silence all around. The trees were in a state of beautiful stillness; the birds hadn't woken up and filled the skies with their twittering yet. The vast, looming mansion was all quiet. The only sound was the slow and serene rustle from the fountain at the mansion.

Slowly, streaks of sunlight started piercing the horizon. The serene warmth of the sun bathed the land and the mansion glistened with the light of the sun. Dawn had arrived; it was time for everyone to get on to their duties.

In one of the rooms of the mansion, someone was sleeping. The room was plainly furnished, but it wasn't difficult to notice the quirks of the resident based on the articles spread throughout the room. On the bed, a boy, probably of not much age, was sleeping soundly. There was a strange sense of peace on the boy's face, as if he had bid farewell to all his struggles during his sleep. This room was none other than Subaru's room.

A piercing sound soon started ringing throughout the room; it was his 'Metia', his phone, one of the only things he had been able to keep from his home world. Rubbing his eyes, the boy woke up. He started looking around in a state of half-sleep. In moments, however, he was fully awake. Subaru quickly changed from his night suit to a more respectable set of clothes. He set out from his room to his destination.

"Subaru-Kun, are you awake?"

"Yup, off to my daily duties."

The person who addressed him was none other than the blue haired maid, one of the twin maids of the mansion, Rem. She had apparently already set off on her morning duties and encountered Subaru while going to attend to some work.

"Have the others woken up yet?"

"No, but everyone is going to wake up in a short while. I was just going to go and wake up Nee-Sama. But you woke up early today; I never thought you were an early riser, Subaru-Kun."

"Ah, I have some important job to finish up in the village. I was just on my way."

It didn't take a lot of time for Rem to figure out what the errand was.

"You promised the villagers that you would teach them some new practices from your hometown, didn't you?"

"Ah, you got me there. Additionally, I also wanted to check if the barrier was walking fine or not."

"You still haven't fully recovered from the injuries after that incident. I also have to buy some necessary groceries. I will follow you soon.'

Subaru had no problems with Rem coming with him, and he happily accepted. A few minutes later, both of them were merrily making their way towards the village. Rem's workload had lessened a bit due to Roswaal-Sama and Emilia having left for some important work. So, she could freely accompany Subaru to the village.

Soon, the lessons started. Subaru began by teaching a few more steps of radio calisthenics to the village folk. He then went to the village Blacksmith and Cook and told them of some new designs and recipes that he had remembered in his home world. Lastly, he shared a few drafts of some stories he had written himself and borrowed from his home land memories with the Village bookmaker. All the while, Rem gathered all the necessary groceries and required items from the village, while placing orders for some items that were to be imported in.

After this, the pair walked off to the forest and patrolled the area to check if the barrier was working fine or not. They systematically went through all checkpoints and then lastly went over to check a small part of the forest that was protected by the barrier yet a bit far away from the village. At this moment, Subaru suddenly winced and sat down. Worriedly, Rem asked

"Is everything okay, Subaru-Kun?"

"Argh, it's nothing, honestly. That fatigue from the Wolgram fight just caught on to me."

While Rem looked worryingly at Subaru, She saw a small White Dog make its way towards them. For some reason, the dog appeared really annoying to Rem.

The dog reached them and started tugging onto Subaru's sleeve and then started running to and fro.

Still wincing, Subaru said

"That dog sure is an Annoying Dog. What does it want?"

"Maybe it wants us to follow it." Rem said

"I don't trust any dogs after seeing the Bossgram, but whatever, it seems to have no ill intentions, I'm fatigued and I know where the path leads to. Come on Rem."

"Yes!" Rem said and happily trotted off behind Subaru, who was himself following the dog.

Following this, the trio reached a small, beautiful valley. It was abound with lush grass and scattered Cornflowers. The dog happily ran off and dozed off after sleeping on a sign that said in English 'Never dig straight down.'

"What, what does the sign even mean?" Subaru wondered

He sat among the flowers, exhausted and motioned Rem to do the same. Rem was making a small garland out of the Tulips that grew nearby. As she reached Subaru, She held a small piece of paper in her hand. The paper looked like what appeared to be the image of an office. There were two doors with a pair of switches each, probably for the lights. There was a cupcake on the front desk with images of stuffed humanoid figures and finally a poster saying 'CELEBRATE!!' on the front wall. Neither Rem nor Subaru could make much sense of it.

"We probably have an hour or so left before returning to work. Nee-Sama will already be working by now, but even if she's not, I'm sure she has some wonderful plan that will allow her to finish all work quickly." Rem said.

"You sure do like your sister don't you."

"Nee-sama and Subaru-Kun are the best."

"I don't know whether to accept that as flattery or compliment, but very well." And both burst into laughter at this.

By now, Subaru was feeling dizzy all of a sudden. Suddenly he fell face flat on the ground.

Hurriedly, Rem rushed to his aid. She soon saw that the sudden unconsciousness was due to fatigue, she cast a healing spell that would soon male Subaru-Kun come to his senses. Seeing that it would not be wise to keep his head on the ground, she slowly put his head on her lap.

"He sure does look cute while sleeping." Rem wondered while stroking his hair. It was certainly a heartwarming moment. Rem felt tingles down her body and she felt a certain sense of warmth. She didn't want this to be over.

"However, there time was almost due." Giving a final head pat to the sleeping boy, she slowly lifted his head and gently woke him up."

After Subaru fully woke up, the pair finally made their way to the residence, Subaru apparently having forgotten what his purpose for leaving the mansion was and Rem very happy for getting to spend some time with him.

And so marked the end of another morning in the Mather's domain…

So here is my first fan fiction. If this sounds half hearted or without a good plotline, don't worry. I'm trying to improve. Any suggestions and criticisms are welcome. This may or may not be a one-shot as well. Anyways, thanks for reading!!
