Chapter 1: When the Angel Comes Down

(Palutena's dream)

Palutena was seeing a strange glowing ruby floating in the air in an unknown area.

Palutena (think)- What the…? What's going on? What am I seeing?

Before Palutena could think of anything else, a silhouette of what looked like a female pirate reached out and grabbed that ruby. Then a black aura surrounded the glowing ruby and cracked open like an egg. Suddenly, a dark fog rushed out of it and it looked like the fog had a monstrous face.

(Palutena's Skypalace)

Palutena woke up from her dream while screaming as loud as she could. But before Palutena could process what had happened, Pit kicked down the door and rushed in the room as fast as he could.

Pit- Lady Palutena, don't worry, because I'm here…

Before Pit could finish that sentence, he slipped and crashed into pedestal with a vase placed on top of it. The vase fell and shattered on top of Pit's body.

Palutena- Uh…Pit…

Pit quickly got back up after Palutena turned on the lights and Pit tried his best to pretend he didn't just make a fool of himself.

Pit- Uh…I meant to do that!

Palutena- Pit, did you really have to rush in like that before thinking?

Pit- Sorry, Lady Palutena. I heard you screaming and it's my duty to protect you with my life. But if I may ask, what got into you before I rushed into your room?

Palutena- I had a dream.

Pit- A nightmare?

Palutena- It felt so real. That stone…I felt like I've seen it before…almost resembled…the Devil's Egg!

Pit- Hmm…?

Palutena- It couldn't have been the Devil's Egg! I thought that Icarus, Marco, Ihsoy, Chaos, and Azra…

Then Palutena turned to look at Pit.

Palutena- Pit…I know we just got up, but I think I have a mission for you.

Pit- Doesn't matter what time of the day it is, I'm always ready for when you need me, Lady Palutena!

Palutena- That's what I like to hear. First, I need you to pay another member of the Super Mario Brothers' Team a visit.

Pit- Which one, Lady Palutena?

(Scuttle Town)

The Ammo Baron had rammed his tank into a carpet shop in the middle of the night. After the tank made that hole in the wall, the Ammo Baron backed his tank up a bit and his men rushed into the carpet shop.

Ammo Baron- Surely, one of them must be a magic flying carpet. And don't with the ones that aren't! I don't need any extra weight to slow us down!

The Ammo Baron's troops began inspecting the carpets to see with ones were magic flying ones. At the same time, the Ammo Baron slumped in the seat of his tank in annoyance.

Ammo Baron- I can't believe this! I've stooped to robbing a common rug shop. And it's all because of that damn Guardian Genie for destroying my first flying armor and how hard it is to get the magic silk in the first place!

Suddenly, the Ammo Baron's train of thought was interrupted when he heard his troops screaming. The Ammo Baron saw that something was attacking them in the darkness. After several of them were thrown out of the carpet store, Shantae walked out of the hole the Ammo Baron's tank made in the building.

Shantae- Not very subtle there, Ammo Baron. Even Risky Boots doesn't make this much nose or mess when she does her pirate raids.

Ammo Baron- Shit! Not you again! Isn't it bad enough that you not only gave Scuttle Town's ownership back to that retarded mayor, but also destroyed my only flying armor I could make with the magic silk?!

Shantae- The flying armor again? That's why you're breaking onto stores that sell carpets?

Ammo Baron- I told you that I need to get my troops airborne if I'm going to take over the world. And it's not easy getting hold of that magic silk that makes those carpets fly. And since it's against the law to keep Magical Silkworms in captivity, I had to look elsewhere.

Shantae- Still can't let you get away with the damage you've done to Scuttle Town.

Ammo Baron- Fine! I'll turn you into roadkill in no time!

The Ammo Baron rushed his tank at Shantae, but Shantae jumped out of the way.

Ammo Baron- If there's one thing came out of all the times you've defeated me, I've learned your movements very well. Because I knew how you would dodge and where you'd land!

Before Shantae could say anything, a large metal containment trap sprung from the ground grabbed Shantae from neck to toe.

Shantae- What the?! I can't move!

Ammo Baron- And there's even a magic nullifying effect in there. No dance moves or genie magic! What are you going to do now, bitch?

Shantae struggled to get out of this trap, but she couldn't even manage to wiggle a finger. However, something rushed down from the sky, whacked the Ammo Baron in the head from behind, and sliced the metal trap Shantae was ensnared in into pieces. Shantae looked behind her and saw Pit doing his best to make a heroic pose while holding his First Blade.

Pit- Ta da!

Shantae- Pit?

Pit- Hey, Shantae. Long time no see.

Ammo Baron- God damn it! What just hit me and…

The Ammo Baron looked over after rubbing his head and saw Pit standing next to Shantae.

Ammo Baron- What the? A winged being…? Hmm…maybe I don't need to go through this crazy search for magic silk.

Shantae- Thanks for getting me out of that trap, but what brings you here, Pit?

Pit- Lady Palutena sent me to…

Ammo Baron- Hey you there! With the wings sticking out of his back!

Pit and Shantae looked at the Ammo Baron who was now out of his tank.

Pit- Who's this clown?

Shantae- That's the Ammo Baron, a military dictator who thinks he can do whatever he wants.

Ammo Baron- Those are a nice pair of wings you got there. Tell me, would you be interested in naming a price for those wings?

Pit- My wings?! You can't be ****ing serious!

Shantae- I thought you were trying to get magic silk.

Ammo Baron- I was, but if I can give my troops wings like those to get them airborne, it will save me the trouble of looking for magic silk, which is hard enough as it is. So, how much would you like for those wings of yours?

Pit- Sorry, but the wings are sort of attached to me. No way in hell I'm parting with them.

Ammo Baron- Fine then. I'll just sever those wings from your corpse after I'm done with you and the genie girl!

Then the Ammo Baron slips on a red outfit and began to float above the ground.

Shantae- Hey, I thought you said I destroyed the flying armor you made!

Ammo Baron- I was lucky enough to have enough magic silk to create one more. It's not battle tested, but I think it will do against the two of you.

The Ammo Baron pulled out a pistol and fired it at them.

Palutena (telepathically to Pit)- Power of Reflect!

Then a reflect wall appeared in front of Pit and Shantae and bounced the bullet back at the Ammo Baron.

Ammo Baron- What the?!

The Ammo Baron quickly flew up to avoid his own bullet.

Ammo Baron- What just happened?! How did that bullet get shot right back at me?!

Then the Ammo Baron noticed Pit fly up after him just as Pit rammed into him and dashed right past him.

Ammo Baron- He's even faster than the magic carpets. All the more reason why I need to get those wings!

The Ammo Baron aimed his pistol at Pit again, but a bolt of lightning struck his right arm and made him drop the pistol.

Shantae- I'm not letting you take Pit's wings that easily, Ammo Baron!

Before the Ammo Baron could react, Pit dashed in with his First Blade and slashed at the Ammo Baron. Then the flying armor was cut to pieces as the Ammo Baron crashed into the ground while in his underwear.

Pit- Wow! Nice undies!

Ammo Baron- Shit…I'll get you both for this…Twitch…Vinegar…

Then these two young girls that work for the Ammo Baron walked in with a stretcher which they used to carry the Ammo Baron out of the area.

Shantae- Serves the Ammo Baron right. But Pit, what brings you to Scuttle Town? You mentioned Palutena sent you for something before the Ammo Baron cut you off.

Pit- Right! Lady Palutena wants me to ask your uncle, Mimic, to look up information about a certain object containing dark magic. She said she wanted to know more about it.

Shantae- Really? What for?
