Chapter 2: Looking Up an Egg

(Mimic's workshop)

Shantae's uncle, Mimic was looking through his bookshelf for a specific book while Pit, Shantae, Sky, and Bolo were standing behind him.

Mimic- Now, what was the name of this artifact again?

Palutena (telepathically to Mimic)- The Devil's Egg.

Mimic- Ok, give me a moment to find it.

Bolo- How came this goddess is willing to speak through the minds of all of you guys but not me?

Shantae- I think Palutena might want to keep her distance with you, Bolo. We all remember why Princess Zelda put that restraining order on you.

Then Pit noticed Sky seemed very interested in Pit's wings. After closely examining the wings, Sky reached out to touch one of them, but Pit pulled the wing away.

Pit- You mind telling me what you're doing?!

Sky- Sorry, but I was just checking out those majestic wings of yours. You see, I raise war birds for a living and seeing those wings sort of got me bewildered.

Pit- Sorry if I seem aggressive, but that idiot, Ammo Baron, tried to take my wings away from me. Also, my wings happen to be very sensitive to the touch as much as another body part. So, I'd appreciate if you don't touch them.

Sky- Well…sorry…

Pit- It's ok. Just as long as you remember I don't like people to touch my wings.

Bolo- You said your wings were just as sensitive to touch as another body part. What other part were you referring to?

Pit- That I will not answer!

Mimic- I think I found it!

Mimic turns around to face everyone while holding a black tome of some kind that was also very large for a book. In fact, it was almost as big as the table he set it on. Mimic opened the book and turned to the section about the Devil's Egg.

Mimic- Now let's see…where is it…ah! There it is! The Devil's Egg!

Bolo- An odd name if you ask me. Sounds more like breakfast.

Pit- Well, it must be dangerous if Lady Palutena would send me all the way to Scuttle Town to ask Mimic for information on it.

Mimic- Pit's right. This is no laughing matter. According to this, the Devil's Egg is actually a backdoor escape…from hell itself. If this egg is broken open, neither a chicken or a yoke will come out of it. Instead, a damned soul from hell will return to the world of the living! Yikes! This is some nasty dark magic! Why on earth did you ask me for information on this, Palutena?

Pit- Come to think of it, you sent me out to door without explaining the situation to me. How about shedding some light on this, Lady Palutena?

Palutena (telepathically to everyone)- Alright. I fear that someone might be searching for the Devil's Egg again.

Shantae- Again?

Palutena (telepathically to Shantae)- Let me start at the beginning. About 1,000 years ago, Marco Mario and the entire Mushroom Kingdom suddenly vanished without a trace. This lead Icarus and other members of the original team to leave for what was left of the Mushroom Kingdom and try to find any clues as to what happened to the Mushroom Kingdom. Marco and Loewy did return along with the Mushroom Kingdom just as suddenly about a week later. But over in Sequin Land, there was a nasty pirate who took advantage of Azra's absence to plunder as much treasure as she could before Scuttle Town's Guardian Genie returned to stop the pirate raids. One of these treasures this Greasy Boots unearthed was the Devil's Egg. To Greasy Boots, she thought it was just an ordinary ruby, but devil was slowly working his way into her mind, attempting to possess Greasy Boots and use her to break the Devil's Egg open. Lucifer, the son of Satan the Devil. I informed Icarus before it was too late, but not as soon as I wished it had been. Marco, Ihsoy, Chaos, Azra, and Icarus barely managed to stop Lucifer before he would use the Devil's Egg to escape from hell. Marco entrusted Azra to hide the Devil's Egg again, but insisted she not tell anyone, not even Marco or the other members of the team or even myself, where it was hidden. However, I have reason to believe someone might know of its location. I dreamt that someone found the Devil's Egg. And that person looked a lot like Risky Boots.

Shantae- Risky? You think she's after the Devil's Egg? Doesn't sound like something Risky would want to unleash.

Pit- Regardless, if Lady Palutena suspects of this, I must carry out my duty and ensure this danger does not happen.

Sky- But where is the Devil's Egg?

Mimic- Like Palutena said, only Azra knew that. Even this book doesn't say where she hid it.

Pit- Guess that means our best course of action is to find that pirate lady and see if she really knows anything about this egg.

Palutena (telepathically to Pit)- That might be best, Pit.

Pit- You can count on me, Lady Palutena!

Shantae- Don't forget about me, Pit?

Pit turned to look at Shantae.

Pit- Huh…?

Shantae- If Risky really is up to something, it is my job to protect Scuttle Town from her shenanigans. I better come with you on this.

Pit- Sure thing, Shantae. I guess I could use someone who knows Risky Boots well to figure out where she's hiding.
