Chapter 5: Deal with The Devil
Suddenly, a black cloud of smoke erupted from the shattered remains of the Devil's Egg as the sky also turned dark.
Demonic voice- Finally! After all these years…I'm finally able to cross over to this world!
Then a shadowy figured could be seen emerging from the black smoke.
Lucifer- Finally…it has been much too long since my last visit. This should be enjoyable…
Out of the black smoke was a man that looked like a younger version of Satan seen in "Poke'mon: Rise of the Devil" only he wasn't wearing a top hat like Satan was. Instead, he was wearing a sharp black suit with a fancy looking red tie to match. His black hair was short, but it looked well combed. But was the scariest thing about his were his eyes which were as black as his fancy suit. Not one trace of white at all in those eyes.
Risky Boots- Who is this creep?!
Shantae- Lucifer, the son of the Devil. The demon that was set free artifact you were planning on stealing.
Risky Boots- Hey! Don't put this blame on me, Shantae! The angel is the one who shot at that thing!
Lucifer- Don't be so modest. I was the one who influenced you to find my Devil's Egg like how I tried to influence that other pirate lady. What was her name again? Greasy…something…But anyway, I can tell from the flow of your magic that you're the daughter of that other genie who got in my way. I'm guessing your mother isn't around in Scuttle Town anymore.
Shantae- Maybe, but I'm Scuttle Town's Guardian Genie and like my mother, I won't let you harm anyone! Back to hell with you!
Shantae launched a fireball created out of her genie magic, but a black barrier appeared around Lucifer and blocked it.
Shantae- What the…
Lucifer- Dark magic. I'm afraid I can't be touched, literally. This magic shield comes to block any attach launched at me automatically and nothing you got can penetrate it.
Then an energy blast was shot at Lucifer from behind, but that black barrier appeared again to block it. Lucifer looked behind and saw Pit pointing his First Blade at him.
Lucifer- I see we have another angel. At least you still have your clothes on.
Pit- What now?
Viridi (telepathically to Pit)- Oh now I remember! HAHAHAHAHA! I almost forgot about that! Icarus tried to keep Lucifer's power from escaping while Palutena attempted to push him back by smothering the Devil's Egg with his body! But what little of Lucifer's power did come out destroyed Icarus' angel robe and left him…exposed! HAHAHAHAHAHA! And to add insult to injury, the only article of clothing Palutena manage to give to his was one of her nightgowns!
Pit- If you're done making fun of Icarus, how about any advice for getting around that barrier of his?
Palutena (telepathically to Pit)- I'm afraid that nothing we currently have can get through it. You and Shantae need to get out of there, NOW!
Pit- Retreat? But I can fight! I'm immune to dark magic. Remember.
Palutena (telepathically to Pit)- Yes, but…
Pit tried to charge for Lucifer with his First Blade, but the dark barrier stopped Pit in his tracks.
Lucifer- True, the power of darkness can't affect angels directly, because of their immunity…but that doesn't mean there are other ways around it.
Then Lucifer flung Pit against the wall of the cove and left a large crater in the wall. Shantae rushed over to help Pit get back up.
Pit- Damn it! That was stronger than I was expecting…
Palutena (telepathically to Pit and Shantae)- Hold on! Power of Blinding Flash!
Then a bright light flashed Lucifer and blinded him for a few moments. When the flash faded, Pit, Shantae, and Risky Boots were gone.
Lucifer- Well that was rude. But I suppose I can make Scuttle Town the first place I visit.
(Somewhere else on Mud Bog Island)
Pit, Shantae, and Risky Boots were in a different cave in Mud Bog Island.
Pit- I can't believe we had to retreat like that!
Risky Boots- Oh sure! Your strategy of jumping in head first guns a blazing was working just fine.
Palutena (telepathically to Pit)- Afraid she's right, Pit. The only thing that can penetrate that barrier of dark power that automatically appears whenever he's attacks can only be penetrated by one thing. Dark magic.
Viridi (telepathically to Pit)- And there is no way we're going to stoop to those levels! The dark power will eventually corrupt us. Best weapon to use for this situation is the Devil's Red Trident.
Pit- What?
Palutena (telepathically to Pit)- It's Satan's trident.
Pit- But me, Ash, and Pittoo destroyed him in season 2.
Viridi (telepathically to Pit)- No, you didn't!
Palutena (telepathically to Pit)- Actually, the three of you just drove him back to Hell.
Shantae- And I think I know of a way we might be able to get to Hell. There is a gateway to a Village of Lost Souls on this island. That's why I had a feeling the Devil's Egg was on this Island. But while I was down there, I saw someone…uh…familiar down there.
Palutena (telepathically to Shantae)- Actually, that village is a small part of Hell itself.
Pit- Lady Palutena…are you saying…
Viridi (telepathically to Pit)- It's the only weapon we can think of that will get through Lucifer's defenses and we don't have much of an option right now.
Risky Boots- Going to Hell? Well, good luck with that!
Risky Boots tried to sneak off, but Shantae grabbed her arm.
Shantae- Oh no you don't!
Risky Boots- What gives?!
Shantae- If we have to risk our necks to stop Lucifer, so do you!
Risky Boots- And why should I give a damn?!
Viridi (telepathically to Risky Boots)- Trust me. Lucifer is even worse than the Pirate Master. But there is one problem we do have. Angels aren't allowed in Hell.
Palutena (telepathically to Pit)- I'm afraid you'll have to change, Pit…
Pit- Oh ****…
(In the Village of Lost Souls)
Shantae and Risky Boots had arrived in this little village in this darkened cavern.
Risky Boots- So this is Hell…literally…
Shantae- That's one way of looking at it. And Pit…will you please stop hiding behind that rock!
Then Pit stepped out from behind a rock, but his body looked very different. His skin was all red, his hair was black instead of brown, bat wings replaced his angel wings, and horns were coming out of the top of his head.
Devil Pit- I hate this form…
Palutena (telepathically to Pit)- Sorry about this, Pit. But ever since our divorce, Satan has placed legal charges making it forbidden for any angel to set foot in Hell. That's why we had to change you into your devil form. It's only until we can convince him to lend us that trident.
Devil Pit- Still hate the idea of being in this body.
Eventually, they came across a bunch of lost souls in a what looked like a make shift village. Most of the people were just standing around and doing nothing looking at the distance. However, there was one girl who actually stood out from the crowd. In fact, she resembled someone very familiar to Shantae.
Devil Pit- Hey, isn't that…
Shantae- Pit, don't! It's sort of Taboo to mention it. And I don't mean Tabuu the wicked god.
Rottytops Soul- Oh, it's that genie from before. What was your name again? I guess it doesn't matter since none of us can remember anything about our lives.
Shantae- Well…I still hope you can figure out why you're here someday.
Rottytops Soul- By the way, another girl who looks like you appeared in this village not that long ago.
Shantae- What?!
Then Rottytops Soul pointed in the crown of lost souls and Shantae saw what appeared to be Ruqayya, only she too was acting like she didn't know anything about herself like everyone else. Shantae decided to approach Ruqayya's soul for some strange reason.
Shantae- Uh…hello…
Ruqayya Soul- Huh…strange…you seem familiar…
Shantae- Familiar? How?
Ruqayya Soul- I remember…someone who looked like you…someone I called…sister…but I can't remember her name…but for some reason…when I try to think of her…I see a face that closely resembles yours…
Shantae- Ok…Well, I hope you can reunite with your sister someday.
Ruqayya Soul- Thank you!
Shantae returned to where Devil Pit and Risky Boots were.
Shantae- Was that really the same Ruqayya I fought during season 5?!
Devil Pit- She doesn't seem corrupted with dark magic like when you or Azra fought her.
Risky Boots- If you don't mind me changing the subject, we came here to try and get a trident from the devil! And I'd like to get out of Hell as soon as possible!
(Later at Satan castle)
Devil Pit, Shantae, and Risky Boots arrived at this creepy looking castle.
Palutena (telepathically to everyone)- That's his castle. Just as tacky as I remember it.
Viridi (telepathically to everyone)- Interesting that you know where his castle would be in Hell.
Palutena (telepathically to Viridi)- Well…he was my ex…
Shantae- If you don't mind me asking Palutena, why on earth would you…
Palutena (telepathically to Shantae)- That's none of your business and it's something I really don't want to talk about!
Devil Pit- Someone's coming! Hide!
Devil Pit, Shantae, and Risky Boots hid behind a nearby rock as someone dressed like an executioner patrolling the perimeter of Satan's castle.
Devil Pit- Hang on! I know him.
Shantae- you do?
Devil Pit- Yeah. His name is Peaches and he's supposed to be Satan's personal servant. Like how I'm Lady Palutena's personal servant or how that defective Primid named Ralph is the Lord of the Universe's.
Risky Boots- Peaches? What kind of a dumbass name is that?!
As Peaches was making his patrol by the gate, a huge flame appeared near the gate that got Peaches' attention. When the flames faded, a giant version of Satan from "Poke'mon: Rise of the Devil" appeared and he was just as tall as the castle.
Satan- PEACHES!
Peaches- Y-yes, my lord?
Satan- I am displeased!
Peaches- Displeased, my lord?
Satan- Very displeased!
Peaches- Well, my lord, perhaps a nice doughnut would…
Satan- Lucifer has escaped from Hell and during your shift!
Peaches- Well majesty, I…
Satan- SILENCE!
Flames appeared all around when Satan shouted that.
Satan- Figure out how my son got out before long or be prepared to suffer the consequences!
Then the flames surrounded Satan and he vanished when the flames faded.
Peaches (in a mocking tone)- Or be prepared to suffer the consequences…that jerk needs a chill pill!
Devil Pit, Shantae, and Risky Boots were still hiding behind that rock, but Shantae and Risky Boots were shocked at what they just saw.
Risky Boots- That's the devil himself?!
Shantae- No wonder Palutena dumbed him!
Devil Pit- Believe me, he's much worse. But let's hope you don't see his real bad side.
Then Devil Pit walked up to Peaches.
Devil Pit- Hey, Peaches!
Peaches- Pit? What brings you here to Hell?
Devil Pit- Me and my friend would like speak to your boss.
Peaches- I don't know, Pit. Satan's still mad about what you and that Poke'mon Trainer did to him the last time he was summoned out of Hell. One of his horns even got damaged.
Devil Pit- We have info on Lucifer.
Peaches- You do?!
(In Satan's castle)
Devil Pit, Shantae, and Risky Boots followed Peaches through the halls of the castle, but the interior was very…questionable.
Risky Boots- Uh…what is this place even made out of…?
Peaches- The souls of those foolish enough to cross the devil. Just one of his many tactics he uses to keep everyone in Hell in check.
Shantae- Is that the sound of a fiddle being played?
Peaches- That would be my lord trying to relax over his son escaping from Hell.
Eventually, Peaches led them to Satan's room where he was playing a fiddle. This tophat was off, but it looked like his right horn was broken off. However, for a monster, he was very good with a fiddle. After a minute or two, Satan noticed Devil Pit's reflection in the mirror he was playing in front of. Satan stood from his seat and turned around.
Satan- Peaches…care to explain the meaning of this?
Peaches- Well my lord…you have visitors…
Satan- Peaches…leave us…
Peaches- Yes, my lord!
Then Peaches ran out of the room leaving Satan alone with Devil Pit, Shantae, and Risky Boots.
Satan- Hmmm…Pit. So tell me…what do I owe this little…(demonic voice) visit…?
Devil Pit- Fine, I'll get to the point. We need borrow the Devil's Red Trident.
Satan- You're a regular comedian there, Pit! Tell me, why would I lend my personal weapon to someone like you? Especially after what you and that Poke'mon Trainer did to me. That Pikachu's iron tail even broke off one of my horns.
Devil Pit- Because of your son. He used the Devil's Egg to get out.
Satan- The Devil's Egg?! So that explains it. I knew I should've destroyed that thing when I had the chance. And his ability to create a magic barrier is getting in the way of sending him back. Well, you know I can't just give the Devil's Red Trident away without some compensation. And no, I do not want me and Palutena to get back together. I already learned my lesson after I found out what a flamethrower she can be.
Palutena (telepathically to Satan)- I'd rather see if Tabuu is available than you anyway!
Satan- Hehe…**** you too, sweetheart. No, I have something else in mind.
Then Satan pulls out a flaming contract and a quill to write on it.
Satan- If I'm going to lend my trident, one of you must sign this.
Devil Pit- What is it?
Satan- Just states that if my trident isn't returned to me within 24 hours, then the one who signs it owns me their soul.
Devil Pit- Alright, let's get this over with…
Devil Pit reached for the quill, but Satan pulled it away before Devil Pit could grab it.
Satan- Not you, Pit. Palutena has place legal charges which prevent me from claiming any of her servants' souls. And you might be in devil form, but I know you're still loyal to Palutena. Just as her previous servant, Icarus, was.
Then Satan presents the contract to Shantae and Risky Boots.
Satan- I'm afraid it has to be one of them. So which of you two ladies cares to dance with the devil?
Shantae and Risky Boots looked at each other.
Risky Boots- Don't look at me!
Shantae- (Groan) Fine! I'll do it!
Then Shantae signs the contract and an hourglass appears behind Satan before he pulls out a glowing red trident.
Satan- Very well. He's my prized trident. This hourglass will run out in 24 hours. And if you don't return my son and my trident by then, the genie girl's soul is mine.
Shantae took the Devil's Red Trident from Satan.
Shantae- I can't believe I'm…let's just find Lucifer and send him back so I can keep my soul.
Viridi (telepathically to Shantae)- You're in luck, Shantae. I've located him. Bad news is he's attacking Scuttle Town. Probably to lure you and Pit out.
Devil Pit- Then let's get out of here so I can change back into my angel form!
