Love Struck Delusion
Chapter 14 – By Having The Devil At My Side.
Raptor's POV, Rebellion Ops Center, Iraq.
Wreak found us a place to set up shop. It wasn't big. It wasn't defensible. It was just a small, broken down building in the slums of what used to be the centerpiece of Iraq. It used to be the action of the city. Now reduced to the homeless and waste of the country. The perfect place to handle our war in the shadows.
I was the first here however. Wreak was out scouting a lead he said that would give us a good opportunity to strike back at General Monroe and his stranglehold over the boarders. I don't know what he has planned but I trust him.
As for the others, Marx was on his way. And Archer was trying to disappear. Can't have anyone know where we all went. And on top of it all, I still haven't been able to think clearly about all this. I understand the problems I face, but I never wanted to do this a second time. I just wanted war to vanish from this country. Seems like with G.U.N however, war follows wherever they go.
Placed on a beaten down couch wreak managed to find on the streets, I looked towards my rifle and bag that sat next to me. In my lap was Shadow's gun. The symbol of the rebellion. I couldn't help but stare at it. The things it stood for now more then ever with him gone.
"Knock! Knock! Hey Raptor, it's me." Marx's voice came through without a hint of hesitation.
Looking up to the door I urged him.
"Come on in."
Gently opening the door, I rested my eyes on the cat. In his hands were two bags. One duffel and a backpack. As he came inside I also noticed he had a suitcase sitting on the doorstep.
"What's all that?" I wondered as he got everything inside to shut the door.
Keeping his backpack on and placing the duffel down next to the suitcase, he replied.
"Along with clothes? I got all the medical gear I had left. It's enough for now, but it won't last us no more then a couple weeks if all goes well."
Nodding once I stated.
"We're still going to need it Marx. Everything helps. Even if it's just a pack of bandages."
Taking in the surroundings, Marx replied.
"Yeah I know."
After a couple of twirls, he asked.
"So this is our new base?"
Shaking my head I replied.
"This is our home. This is were we fight back against G.U.N. It's no base like the capitals, but it's something."
"I like it. Very hard to find and very tough to spot among the rest of the ruble out there." Stated Marx as I still focused on Shadow's gun.
After getting himself settled in, Marx asked.
"Where's Wreak?"
"He said he had something to look into. Said it might be our first move on taking back Iraq."
"I think we should just focus on us before the rest of the country Raptor. We don't have that kind of firepower."
Looking him in the eyes I replied.
"We won't need it. We just hit them where it hurts the most. After some blows they will weaken. Then we can go on from there."
Nodding slowly, I urged him.
"Just relax. He'll be here soon."
"Never said I wasn't relaxed Major. It's just a feeling I haven't experienced for years. An experience even you haven't felt since the first two wars."
Shutting my eyes I replied calmly.
"It's just something we need to remember and recall. If we can do that we can maintain one another again. Like before. We'll be fine."
"I hope you're right. For all our sakes Raptor."
"We will be. Just trust me. We'll find a way through this and bring back our country to it's former glory. The glory the commander gave it before he died."
Marx went silent as I finished.
"We'll fight for him Marx. We'll fight and we'll die if need be. For him."
Looking into my blank expression, Marx looked to the door as it opened with Wreak barging in with a smile.
"What's going on guys? How we looking?"
Not opening my eyes I replied.
"Settling in to our new home Wreak. And Marx came through with some meds. Looks like we won't be dying anytime soon."
Giving me a chuckle, Wreak then stated.
"Not like I planned on it Major. You good?" He asked as he looked towards Marx who was setting up one of the folding tables Wreak had placed in the corner of the room for his gear.
"I'm fine." He replied calmly as Wreak helped him.
After setting up the table, he replied.
"Well let's get everything set. We move soon."
After bringing up his duffel, Marx questioned.
"Move?"
Looking to me in confusion, Wreak replied.
"Yeah. We have to get started early if G.U.N is to know we're serious."
"I already killed the men manning the gate. They have an idea."
With a smile Wreak then said.
"Well two foot soldiers aren't going to cut it Raptor. You know that."
"So what do you have in mind?" I asked as I opened up my eyes to look at him as he stood front and center in front of me.
Marx continued to listen as he answered.
"I have a plan. Just you wait. You'll love it."
"And the two of you are going to attempt whatever crazy plan you have in mind? That's suicide."
Looking to Marx I stated.
"Archer will be joining us. So it won't just be us two."
Looking to me Wreak questioned to be sure.
"Wait? You got Archer to go along with us?"
Nodding I replied.
"He'll be here any minute."
"Knock! Knock!"
Everyone looked to the door as I muttered.
"Right on time."
"Come in!" Urged Wreak as Archer came through with two large metal cases.
In awe, Wreak jumped to help.
"You gone?" I asked Archer as he dragged the cases with Wreak to the table Marx was at.
After setting them down, he replied.
"I got rid of some loose ends. General Monroe won't look twice Raptor."
Giving him a nod, I continued to listen as he then hugged Wreak who he hasn't seen in years.
"I can't believe you're here Archer. It's been too long." Stated Wreak; as Archer agreed and looked to Marx to then reply to the both of them.
"I can't believe you two are still around. I figured by now you would have left the country."
Shaking his head, Marx replied.
"I can't. This place means too much to me."
"Same." Added Wreak as Archer then looked to me to ask.
"So what's our first move?"
Picking up my eyes I looked to Wreak to ask.
"So what is it?"
Looking around Wreak urged.
"Well let's all huddle around cause this is a bit of a whopper."
Heading to the table, Marx, Archer and myself all got together to watch as Wreak pulled out a small camera he had in his back pocket.
"Well I was out by the Capital earlier and I decided to see if I could get a look inside the gates. Well after finding a way in I saw this."
Starting the video, I took instant remembrance to what I was seeing. It was by the main vehicle storehouse. It's where all the rebellion's old war toys were being held. Everything from humvees, to tanks, to APC's, to LAV's, to helos were there. In the video, G.U.N was taking apart one of the humvees.
"Now like we all know G.U.N is taking all the rebellion's old gear and turning it over for their own use."
Nodding Archer added.
"They're doing the same thing in Pakistan. They take apart all the old equipment and turn it into stuff they can use for their own gear. Anything valuable. Fucking pirates basically."
Nodding Wreak then said.
"Well I noticed all that shit they take is being transferred via cargo trucks to the airfield. They are then sending it overseas to the states for processing and recall. I figure if we can steal one of those trucks we can get our hands on some things we really need. Like fucking guns." Stated Wreak as I nodded.
"We need to start somewhere. I only have my old rifle. And one M4 isn't going to cut it if we're going to take the fight to them."
Smiling Archer replied.
"That's why I brought those two with me."
Taking our eyes to the crates, Archer looked to Wreak.
"Help me lift it."
Aiding it up onto the table, Archer popped the case to expose the contents within.
Everyone widened their eyes as inside rested a few rebellion vests and old rifles. Along with a couple extra clips and some grenades.
"This will work!" Stated Wreak in joy as I asked Archer.
"The other one?"
Smiling Archer replied.
"A gift from the armory. Straight from G.U.N's pocket."
Wreak helped get it up onto the other end of the table, as I opened it up to widen my eyes. Marx immediately muttered.
"Holy shit."
"Those trucks are protected. This baby will deal with the escort."
Reaching inside, I pulled out a heavy piece of military hardware. Wreak was in heaven as I held it up to check it's systems.
"A one shot, M72 LAW. This bad boy will take out a humvee no problem." I stated as Wreak continued to drool
"What do we do with the truck after we take it?" Wondered Marx as we all then thought.
Getting an idea, I said.
"Alright listen. Here's the plan."
Everyone listened closely as I explained my thoughts.
"This is going to be a simple snatch and grab. Wreak and I will handle the truck and it's escort. Once it's stopped we'll take it. Archer, you're going to find us a means of moving the hardware. A van would work best. Small and won't attract attention. We'll burn what we can't take and come back here."
"That sounds good, but two things Raptor." Stated Wreak as I looked to his input.
"Where are we looking to ambush this thing? And once we do, where the hell are we going to take it to?"
Jumping in Archer stated.
"I worked close with this operation Wreak. I know for a fact G.U.N has the route for the trucks going along the main highway and then down through the market. From there the drivers take the back roads to the boarder entrance. We can trap them along the way; then take it to the old cement factory on Dorsal street."
"The back roads sound safer Raptor. If we hit them on the highway G.U.N will be all over it." Stated Wreak as Marx added.
"Yeah but if we hit them there, G.U.N will know the rebellion is still alive and kicking. It will definitely get their attention. Or we could hit the market, that's also a good idea. The people will love it."
"So?" Questioned Wreak as Archer nodded to the idea.
"So, if they see us fighting back chances are people will come around to the idea that we shouldn't go down without a fight. We might be able to get more people to join our cause."
Looking to me, Wreak stated.
"It's you're choice Major. What's it going to be? We're behind you ether way."
Thinking on my options, I had my choice made.
So what is it going to be?
Choice 2 – Where to attack the convoy?
Highway?
Market?
Back roads?
