The king was skimming stones on the river when Sonic walked up to him "Your majesty, I'm sorry I didn't tell you about Jet. It's just after he saved me I knew there had to be some good in him. Just like how you knew there was good in me". King Rose thought for a second and then smiled and patted Sonic on the back "Well said my boy. You will make a fine advisor". Jet was sitting by the river looking very guilty when Sonic came up to him "This was a great idea Jet, thanks" "Oh, don't thank me, really". Before Sonic could ask him what he meant Scratch on horseback followed by a cloaked figure charged past them right to the king. Shadow got between them but to Sonic's surprise they trampled him like he was nothing. The cloaked figure grabbed the King and ran into the forest along with Scratch. Sonic then looked at Jet and grabbed him by the throat "You traitor" "Traitor is such a strong word" "Sonic, help!" the king yelled from a distance. Sonic threw Jet aside "Come on, guys!" Omega picked up Sonic and they chased after the King with Tails and Shadow right behind him. They got above them and saw there heading for a cliff "Ok guys, when they stop, we can…. What!?" the two horses leaped of the cliff only to grow wings and fly "They know magic? That must be how they got passed me" Shadow sounded worried.
Tails swooped past the hooded figure and grabbed the King "Hold on, Your Highness, we'll lose them" just as he said that though the hooded figure shot a beam at the river that made a tornado of water appear and the two were caught in it. Sonic tried to reach in for them, but he and Omega were dragged in too. Sonic and Tails where the launched-out of the tornado and into the river. Shadow flew towards them "Don't worry, I've-" before he could finish the hooded figure shot a beam at Shadow that made him disappear. Sonic tried to grab onto a rock and hold onto Tails, but Scratch flew next to him and kicked his head making Sonic and Tails head right for the waterfall. Scratch watched as they both went over about to fall to their deaths, but the hooded figure then used magic to slow their descent and they were place further along the river. "What are you doing? We had them, he was about to be a greasy smear on the-" the figure transformed into Infinite who then grabbed Scratch "Look you little…! I mean my dear Scratch, remember the plan. Soon his time to die will come and then you will have your third wish". "As for you Jet, you've done well" Jet wasn't looking so happy "Please don't mention it". Sonic woke up in a shallower part of the river and checked if Tails was okay "You alright?" Tails coughed "I'm beginning to see why you hate water". They both stood up "Come on, we have to get back to Shamar. Can you fly us?" "I can't. I'm a bit drained from the chase" they both started walking on foot.
The king was chained to one of the walls of Infinites lair "Infinite, you fiend! I should have known it was you behind this". Infinite meanwhile was placing a crystal ball that contained Shadow inside next to Knuckles "Well, I couldn't have done it without Jet" Jet was too full of shame to say anything as he stood in front of Silver and Blaze who were still knocked out. Scratch was chaining Omega but he was able to get free and made a dash for the window but Infinite shot a beam which chained him to the floor "I'm afraid to say that you, tin man are of no use to me". Infinite was about to blast Omega with something but then suddenly "No wait, please!" Infinite turned and realize it was Shadow who was talking "Do you you want m to shut you up like your brother?". Shadow looked scared "Please, he's my friend, don't hurt him" Infinite chuckled "Hurt him? He's a robot, but I suppose I can save it for later. After all something so much better is about to happen". Infinite placed his hand on the Shadow's prison, stopping him from talking. Infinite then took the crown from the King and he covered it in blood, he also created a dagger "This is all I need to seal Sonic's fate".
Sonic and Tails made it back to the palace and reached the top of the steps where they saw a very angry looking Fang "Fang, the King has been-" "Seize them!" guards grabbed Sonic and Tails "You are both under arrest for the murder of King rose!" both of them tried to deny this but they were taken to the dungeon. The two of them were chained to the wall while Fang was standing in front of them "So you went over the waterfall, how did you survive?" Sonic knew his answer won't be good enough "We… We don't know" "Well, how very convenient". Tails was getting annoyed "It's the truth. Why won't you believe us?" "Because we know you're lying" they all turn to see Amy at the door of the dungeon holding the bloodied crown "I found this in your room". Sonic realized what she was implying "No No Amy you can't think we'd-" Amy interrupted him "I thought you loved me but all you wanted was to rule Shamar. They will die at dawn for the murder of my father". Tails was close to tears at hearing this as Amy and Fang left the dungeon.
They both then entered the secret passage and entered Infinites lair where the real Fang and Amy where chained to the wall. The two fakes merged together and turned into a laughing Infinite "Oh, you should have seen the look on their faces when Princess Amy sentenced them to death". Amy devastated "No" Fang however was angry "Infinite you son of a-" Infinite shot a beam at Fang that made him scream in pain "No, please leave him" Infinite did so, and Fang stayed silent. "Jet, I swear you will pay for this!" Amy said angrily to the hawk who turned his head away, Infinite held Amy's chin "Such spirit". Amy then bit his finger and he backed away "Perhaps a few days in here will make you kindlier disposed, that is if you want your father to remain healthy". "Leave her alone" Blaze now awake was struggling against her chains, but Infinite barley acknowledged her or Silver who had his head down. Infinite turned to Jet "You betrayed me, allied with my enemies and then betrayed them the moment if suited you interests, that's what I like about you Jet, you're a villain through and through" Jet nodded at this hoping Infinite wouldn't kill him.
