Creep
Summary: Trina tells Cameron about what happened at Kelly's
A/N: So the next part of my series will be posted. I just had to write this first after seeing Monday's episode. They're making Dev worse and worse. I suggest listening to the song, Creep by Radiohead(or the Michelle Branch version), Every Breath You Take(the Chase Holfelder version), and Animals(also the Chase Holfelder version).
Trina couldn't get Dev's behavior out of her head. The way he'd attacked Josslyn for not responding to the kiss the way he wanted, the way he'd spoken to her and to Trina herself. It was so different from how he normally behaved. It was why she was standing in front of the door to Cam's house right now, closed fist hesitating over the wood of the door. Letting out a breath, she knocked on the door.
It swung open a few moments later revealing Cam, hair still damp from a shower, dressed in an old soccer sweatshirt and sweatpants. "Trina." He says in surprise, eyes wide. "What are you doing here?"
Trina didn't answer him for a few moments, stepping past him inside the room. "Joss missed you, today. I'm sure she'd have liked you there to celebrate her eighteenth birthday."
Cam stares down at his bare feet, swallowing hard. He feels guilty for missing out on today. Most of all, he misses his best friend. He couldn't remember a day that he'd been without Josslyn by his side. "I'm sure she had other things on her mind. Besides, she knows that I had soccer practice."
A frown set on his friend's lovely face. "But things have been weird between you two you for a few weeks now. I don't know what happened, but it sucks."
His eyes flit up to hers. "It does." He admits. "But it's hard being around her after what Dev showed me."
Her dark eyes narrow suspiciously, anger at Dev welling up inside of her once more. "What did Dev show you?"
Alarm colors Cam's face at the fierceness laced in Trina's voice. "Her journal." He answers weakly, running a hand through his hair. "That evening that I accidentally cut my hand at work, he showed up at the hospital with it. Said she'd thrown it out. Joss and I kissed at the Homecoming Dance and then she ran off once Dev showed up."
Trina bites back a gasp at the confession. It wasn't as if she hadn't considered it and it's not as if she could be mad at either of them. They hadn't done anything wrong. Clearly, the three of them would need to sit down and talk about everything soon, though. She pushes it to the back of her mind for now. There are far more important things to deal with. "And you didn't think there was anything wrong with Dev having her journal? Which, might I add, she never threw away. She just...put it in her memory box because she realized that she didn't need to write in it anymore. She wanted to live her life."
He swallows guiltily. "I did. I was really angry when I first saw that he had it. Even tried to tell him that it was wrong and was stealing. Then he showed me an entry. He said it was from the night of the dance. She wrote about how upset she was about our kiss and how awful it was. I got embarrassed and...well..." He trails off, playing with the strings on his sweats.
"Well that fake entry certainly lines up with Dev's behavior today." Trina muses.
Cam throws her a questioning look.
"Joss put her journal away shortly after Mike died." She explains. "Before the Homecoming dance. She wasn't using it anymore so she couldn't have written the entry. Besides, if she didn't like the kiss, she'd have told you herself."
He sighs and collapses onto the sofa, head in his hands. "I really messed up, didn't I?"
Trina takes a seat beside of him and wraps an arm around him, pressing a kiss to his clothed shoulder. "You did. And you'll need to explain yourself to Joss. Tell her what you've told me. She might be a little angry, but she'll forgive you. For now, though, we've got to discuss Dev."
Cam looks at her. "That's right. You said that he acted weird today. What did he do?"
"Well apparently he tried to kiss Joss before I arrived. He gave her a birthday gift. A journal with her initials on it. According to her, she was a little bit shocked by the gift. Dev apparently tried to make her feel guilty by saying he'd find someone who actually liked it. When she said that she did, that's when he attempted to kiss her. She told him that she was sorry and she didn't feel that way about him. That's when I arrived. Dev was acting cold. She showed me the gift and he flipped out and started hurling accusations at her. He said she treated him like garbage and asked when she was lying. Last winter, when she kissed him. Or now."
Wide eyes stare at her, hands clenching into fists as he learns about Dev's behavior. "That asshole."
Trina laughs bitterly, shaking her head. "That's not all he did, though. I tried to get him to stop being a jerk and then he started yelling about you. How Joss thought you were better than him. Then he claimed that you didn't care about either of us. That you were playing games and putting us against each other. That's when he left Kelly's. Joss tried to talk to him, but apparently, he brought up Oscar. I had to remind myself that it was Joss' birthday and I couldn't ruin it by skipping out on it to beat Dev's ass."
"We've got to keep him away from her, Trina. We need to tell her mom and Sonny what's going on or something. He lives in that house with her. He could do anything!"
A calming hand rests on his shoulder. "I know. And that's why it's important for us to tell her about the journal entry he showed you. She needs all the facts. She needs to know he's been awful. He wasn't just having a bad day. He wasn't just embarrassed because she rejected him-in the nicest way possible, might I add. He sees her as a prize to be won and not an actual person. Because if he really cared about her, he wouldn't have treated her that way. He wouldn't have hurt her by pushing you away from her."
The friends share a look of determination and stand up, knowing exactly what they had to do.
