When Kiba awoke the enemy nin were long gone, good. Unfortunately they had taken the girl with them, bad.

As he sat up Akamaru and Ninatsu ran up to him concerned and frantic. "Hey buddy good to see you're alright" he said to Akamaru. You too he could tell the nin-dog was thinking. "So where'd they take the girl?" he asked rubbing the back of his head where he had been hit. It throbbed painfully. Ninatsu growled at him as she did every time he referred to her companion as 'the girl', and Akamaura bounded off in a North-ward direction. He had clearly already picked up the trail so Kiba got to his feet in pursuit wondering why enemy nin would leave a Jounin captain and two nin-dogs behind and only take the girl. Where they picking up their spy?

The nin had cleverly made multiple scent trails and Akamura was not sure which one was the correct one. The nin were fast and Kiba doubted they had time to check each trail together so he split the team. Akamaru and Ninatsu taking one trail and himself taking another. Fuck, Kiba thought, he had really hoped Akamaru would be able to find her, now he was going to have to track the girls scent himself. He had been working so hard to stay upwind of her the entire mission, and keep distance between them. Perhaps thats why he had missed the enemy Nins ambush. He had been too preoccupied with trying desperately not to be distracted.

He hated admitting, even to himself, how much he liked her scent, how much it distracted him, the physical affects it had on him. It was sweet and fresh, yet with a depth and mystery like the forest. If scent had a colour he would say it smelt green. It had become his absolute favourite scent but he hated what it did to him. Being out of control of your own body was not a good look for and ANBU squad Captain. Kiba did his best to ignore how much of it that he was now inhaling and instead focus on following the trail. He came to a small cave. The trail led inside. He was sure this was the place but there was no time to go back for Akamaru. Kiba's sensitive Inuzuka ears could hear the nin inside and their plans for the girl were not good. Well at least she's not their spy he thought trying to put a positive spin on an ugly situation. Although having Akamaru to fight by his side would have greatly improved his odds Kiba could not allow these men to have their way with the girl. He just wasn't that sort of guy.

The nin were ex-Sound village that explained why he hadn't heard them approaching before the ambush and even in this enclosed space with the enemy nin right in front of him all he could smell was Kira. Damn he thought I really cant take this girl on missions with me look at the situation we're in. The enemy nin were fast and managed to land a few hits early on but he had the advantage when it came to strength. The girls scent was heavy in the air but for once it didnt feel like a distraction. With what they threatened to do to her Kiba found it to be driving him on. After landing a few heavy hits on the enemy nin they took off, clearly deciding that it wasn't worth continuing to fight him. He decided against persuing them, for now. He still had to retrieve the nin-dogs and it was probably best to get the girl home. Surely she would be shaken.

He found the girl in the back of the cave in what looked like a very make shift bed. He cringed inwardly and tried to wake her but she was unconscious. Great, now I have to carry her back to Konoha. Fantastic. He thought sarcastically. As he picked her up from underneath a rough blanket he noticed that some, actually most of her clothes had been torn off. Was he too late? He worried. But she didn't smell different. As an Innuzuka he would have been able to smell the evidence of sex had that occured. Even so he would have to tell his mother about this, and she was not going to be pleased that he let himself get wacked in the back of the head and allowed the girl get kidnapped. Sigh.
