Salvage
March, 2003
Dawn walked into the living room of her house, slightly surprised no one was there. With her house turning into a boarding house for potential slayers, Scoobies, and ex-villains (or kind-of bad guy in Andrew's case) it was getting harder and harder to get some alone time.
Her breath of silence was interrupted when the phone started to ring. Sighing, Dawn picked up the phone.
"Summer's residence. Dawn speaking."
"Hi, Dawn," a familiar voice said.
"Angel! Is that you?"
"Yeah, it's me. Is your sister home?"
"Yeah! She's in the kitchen," Dawn said excitedly. She hadn't seen Angel since that awful summer when Buffy was dead. She didn't get the chance to visit after her sister came back, and Angel hadn't been available the last summer.
"She is?"
"Yeah, Do you want," she heard the phone get hung up. "To talk to her?" she finished. Dawn felt a familiar gut feeling that she couldn't quite place. Then it hit her.
Dawn hurried to the kitchen where Buffy was in the middle of a conversation with Willow.
"Buffy…" They turned to her.
"What is it, Dawn?" Buffy said, sounding slightly annoyed. Willow, on the other hand, looked slightly concerned.
Dawn opened her mouth, unsure what to say. 'Your ex-boyfriend just called, and I think he might be evil?' No, she couldn't take a little gut feeling seriously, especially with the First attacking them. But, still…
"Never mind," she said. Her sister and Willow went back to their conversation. Dawn went back to the living room and picked up the phone. She flipped to the phone book until she found the number under Angel Investigations. She had almost typed in the last number, but found herself putting the phone down. She was probably worried over nothing. Angel probably hung-up because he saw some vamps. Yeah, that made sense. She was worrying over nothing. She technically had never even seen Angelus. Just keep telling yourself that a little voice inside her said. Just keep telling yourself that.
And that's the end! I hope you enjoyed this fic. I tried to make sure to not contradict canon. If I missed something, just let me know. It turns out Enemies and Salvage both aired in March, which was a cool little thing to add to the fic.
