Times up!
Previously
Kivar pressed his lips to hers in a bruising kiss. Eowyn gathered her last strength and used it to push Kivar off her. He strained against the hold of her power, trying with all of his might to reach her. She was weakening but she held him off her still.
"It is futile to resist Eowyn" rasped Kivar as he pushed against her hold. "You have not enough energy. It is only a matter of time …"
A voice barked from the doorway "Time's up Kivar!"
"Zan" Eowyn gasped, at last allowing her power to falter and release her grip on Kivar. Exhausted beyond endurance she lapsed into unconsciousness. Kivar fell to the ground on top of the unconscious Queen, but his attention was no longer focused on Eowyn. Rather he was staring in terrified awe at the enraged figure at the door.
"I … I … thought you were on earth …" he stammered.
With something akin to a growl Zan launched himself at the Skin leader.
"Earth would not be far enough to keep me from hunting you down and killing you." He snarled as he knocked Kivar to the ground with a massive blow to his head.
Zan could have killed Kivar instantly with a single blast of his power, but Kivar did not deserve a quick death and he was not doing to get one.
"You killed me"
Zan grated out as he drew his sword and slashed a large gash in Kivar's side.
"You killed my wife"
Zan's sword flicked in Kivar's face leaving multiple small, but painful cuts, the blood flowing freely down his face, blocked his vision as he desperately tried to defend himself against the enraged King with his own sword.
"You enslaved my people"
As Kivar raised his sword to protect his face, Zan slashed wide wounds beneath his raised arms. Kivar's sword clattered to the floor as his arms fell uselessly to his side.
"You killed my people"
Zan circled the Skin looking for another opening, as Kivar attempted to move away, to escape the Antarian King's righteous rage.
"You tortured my wife"
Kivar turned to flee but he was too late as with a low slash, Zan neatly ham-stringed him. Kivar fell screaming to the floor. He turned his bloodied face to Zan.
"Mercy" he pleaded. Zan totally disregarded his words, if in fact he even heard them through his rage. Raising his sword, he brought it down on the unprotected Skin lord's chest.
"And now … you die!" he growled as he drove his sword home.
As soon as he was sure Kivar was dead, Zan rushed to his wife's side where she law unmoving and pale on the floor.
"Eowyn" he gasped. "Eowyn my love, wake up, it's over."
Tears streaming down his cheeks, Zan began, once again to heal his wife's many wounds, pouring his energy and love into her as he did so. Finally, Eowyn stirred in his arms. She reached up a shaky hand to caress his face as he sobbed in relief.
"Zan" she said hoarsely, "You came for me."
"Always, Eowyn" Zan replied, kissing her forehead tenderly. "I'll always come for you."
"Is it done then?" asked Eowyn, looking around she saw Kivar's body and a group of relieved soldiers, including Rath, standing at the door of the room.
"Yes, my love" answered Zan his voice shaking with emotion. "It is done … we're home!"
