Love Struck Delusion
Chapter 48 – Of Course This didn't Come Easy.
Hunter's POV, Iraq border.
I watched from below with Archer on my side to stare up as the spotlight shined upon the snipers who manned the watchtowers around the gate. It didn't take anymore then a few seconds to pass for them to turn and look that way, and as they covered their eyes in confusion I widened mine as a hissing sound could be heard zooming by our heads.
"Ughh!" It was almost an instant but you heard it clear as day as the soldier manning the rightmost tower was hit directly in the chest by a large 50. caliber round. His body drilled the wall in the tower causing the other in the parallel tower to turn and look at what happened. But as his eyes tried to clearly see; you could hear the hissing again. Archer and I now watch closely as he was drilled in the neck.
Without a sound his corpse hit the tower floor. The second it all went silent I looked back to Archer who heard over comm.
"Chalk up two. You guys are clear to move for the control room. I'll watch over you until then."
"Roger that Wreak. Nice shooting." Replied Archer as he got up to nudge me to follow him.
Now behind my leader, we made our way to the stairs to slowly crouch walk our way up.
"Get your men on the spotlight Char then get down here with us. I'll need you."
"Copy that Captain." He replied as we got all the way up the stairs to see the control tower at our front.
Looking to our left to see a pair of large boxes, Archer dragged me over to order.
"Stay hidden till Char gets here. I'm going to deal with the guards on the other side before we jump this together."
"Be careful." I begged him as he nodded and replied.
"Always."
Watching as he made his way past the control room quietly, I looked up as Char and his men could be seen getting dressed in the uniforms of the dead G.U.N soldiers.
Letting down a gulp of self concern, I wiped my forehead to look back at Archer who was slowly creeping up behind a lone soldier who seemed to be taking a smoke break.
Archer's POV.
Pulling the kid down by his neck, I dragged my blade along his throat to watch as he coughed up smoke and blood. With his cigarette dropping to the ground, I tossed him to the side to watch as he went still under a pool of his blood. Letting out a sigh, I remembered how real this all was to me. How many times have I taken a life younger then my own? How many men here are just here for the job and not the reason?
Moving further down the west side of the border, I took care of my placement as two men appeared to be coming my way. With the body of the kid still in sight, I ducked under a nearby crate and waited till I heard from them.
"What the fuck? Who...!?"
Turning the corner of the crate as fast as I could, I aimed my silenced M9 at the man on the right to fire a round right into his neck. Stumbling back as blood gushed out his throat, I took my chance to tackle his friend onto the metal catwalk to cover his mouth.
"Toof! Toof!"
Firing two rounds into his chest, I watched as he stared at me in what appeared to be anger and pain.
"Just die." I urged him as I fired off another round.
"Toof!"
His eyes went wide as I began to feel him going limp under my pressure.
As soon as he was still and motionless, I got up to look around. Hunter was still were I left here and it appeared Char was making his way down to her.
"Two more Archer." I heard Wreak say through my earpiece as I refocused on my front to see two more coming from what appeared to be the bathroom. As they got out I widened my eyes to hear a loud hissing coming from the distance.
Running forward out of instinct, I watched as the man in the back was drilled in the chest by a large round from Wreak. With his friend looking back in confusion, I ran into his side to take his head and slam it along the nearby wall. His skull cracked from the force and I took my care to fire off a round into his gut to be sure.
"Could have warned me." I stated to Wreak over comm as I stood up to let out a breath.
"Gotta keep you on your toes Archer. Making sure age hasn't made you slow."
"Fuck you Wreak. It's been awhile." I stated in a calm tone as he chuckled to ask.
"That's nine right?"
"Yeah. The others must be inside the control room."
"Think you can handle six more?" He wondered as I began to make my way into the bathroom to check and make sure it was clear.
"Not by myself. That's what I got Hunter and Char down here for. Don't worry about me. Now how about you get your ass down here already and stop mentioning my age?" I urged as he went serious to reply.
"I'll wait till the control room is clear. Then I'll be there. Until then I'll watch out for any unexpected visitors."
"Roger that." I replied as I neared Hunter and Char who were waiting for me.
"Ready?" Asked Char as I nodded and looked to Hunter.
"You ready for this?"
Nodding she replied.
"I'll be fine. Let's just do this."
Nodding myself, I ordered.
"We'll breach together. Once the door is open and the guard is down I want you to go left Hunter and handle anyone over there. Char and myself will take the front. Understood?"
"Got it." Replied Char as Hunter looked more focused then I've ever seen her before.
"Okay. Stack up." I ordered as I took the right side of the door.
Hunter took the left with Char behind her. Bringing up my M9 in my right hand and my blade in my left, I nodded and began to knock with the palm of my wrist.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
Hunter's POV.
"That you Bill!?" We heard a man inside ask as he opened the door to see no one there in front of him.
Caught off guard, the man panicked as Archer slammed his blade in his stomach to push forward into the room using him as a shield. I quickly ran in next with Char to make a left to see a kid that couldn't have been any younger then eighteen next to a large door. Taking my knife; I tackled him into the door to slam it into his chest. His eyes went wide in shock as I turned it in his skin.
Quickly going still, I looked back to see Char and Archer going after four men who manned the gate controls. These men by now were trying to get out of their seats, but with my friends closing in, I watched with my back to the door as Archer fired off rounds.
With a clip empty and two men on the right falling back into the panels, I widened my eyes as Char took one of the remaining men back first off his feet into the wall to hold him there as Archer reloaded.
"Get him Captain!" Urged Char as Archer sent the receiver back on his M9 to aim up at the held hedgehog over Char's shoulder.
"Toof!"
Blood hit the wall as a round was sent through his skull, and with the last soldier now in a loss for what to do, I watched on as he raised a rifle to Archer who sent a round into his knee before he could even think of pulling the trigger.
"Aghhh!" Screamed the poor man as he fell down to his knees.
"Pss!" Looking to Char who made the noise, I shook slightly as he fired off a round of his own.
"Toof!"
With the bullet going through his neck, we all watched as he fell down to the ground among the others.
"Clear." Stated Archer over comm as Wreak replied.
"Alright. I'll get heading down now. Get everyone in position. We can't...?"
Wreak's voice seemed to have went silent as I heard the door behind me open. Archer and Char widened their eyes as I slowly looked back to see a large bear standing over me with an M1014 shotgun resting in his right hand.
Dressed in special forces gear, the black armor stood out to me; before I saw he wasn't wearing a helmet. Looking around at the scene; he shouted while swinging his arm with the shotgun at me.
"You mother FUCKERS!"
"BASH!"
Char's POV.
Hunter was hit so hard I swear her head spun as Archer and I watched her hit the floor with a thump. Blood rolled out of her mouth as the large bear now looked to us to shout.
"Your dead! I'm gonna kill both of you and hang your bodies over this border!"
Aiming the gun at us, Archer panicked and ordered.
"Take cover!"
Watching as he rolled to the ground, I widened my eyes as the bear aimed at me.
"Oh shit!" I shouted as I took a leap to the right to take cover behind the control panels.
"Boosh! Boosh!"
Pellets flew over my head as I looked to Archer who quickly got up to try and charge him.
With one swift turn; the bear aimed at his chest to fire off a solid slug.
"Boosh!"
Archer immediately flew a good ten feet back as I shouted in fear.
"Captain!"
Landing on his back, Archer slid to a stop to not move.
"Stay where you are little man! I promise I'll make it quick!" Stated the bear as I didn't know what to do.
With the bear walking forward with a smile to his success, I began to move towards the wall as he turned the corner of the panels to aim at me.
"Time to die." He said as I heard a loud hissing coming from the door behind him.
With my mind ready to accept death, I instantly ducked as a loud thump hit the bear in the back.
"Aghhhh! What the fuck was...!?" Turning around to look outside, the bear was cut off as another hissing round was sent into his head.
Blood engulfed his face as his skull was ripped into two pieces which were sent across the room around us.
In confusion, I quickly crawled to the left as the bear's body fell back to land where I was once sitting.
With his armor generating a huge thud, I let out a gasp for air as I heard over comm.
"You okay Char?!"
Nodding to myself, I replied.
"Yeah...fuck...thank you Lieutenant! You saved my life!"
"What happened to the others?!" He asked in concern as I looked around to state.
"Hunter was hit hard Lt! And I mean HARD!"
"And Archer!?" He asked as I looked to my left to see him now moving.
"Captain!" I shouted as I ran to his aid to see his vest ate most of the slug.
"I'm okay." He replied calmly as I noticed he was holding his side.
"Let me see!" I ordered as he moved his hand to let me see he had been hit by a part of the slug.
"He's been hit Lieutenant! Doesn't look bad, but we need to get him patched up soon!" I stated as Wreak came back on comm to order.
"Keep him there and make sure Hunter is okay! I'm on my way with the others! ETA three minutes!"
"Copy that!" I replied as Archer nudged me for a hand.
Helping him up, I asked.
"What now?"
With his hand holding his side, he replied.
"Wait for Wreak to get here with the others then get dressed. We don't change our course just cause I'm hurt. Understood?" He asked as I nodded and replied.
"Okay. No problem. What about Hunter?"
Moving to her he replied.
"I got her. Just go now before anything else happens."
"Roger that." I replied as I ran out to wait for the Lt.
Wreak's POV.
I had some of the men with me. About ten. Hopefully once we get there we can all hold this border. God I hope those shots that bear fired off didn't alert anyone. We need to be ready in case though.
Pulling up to the border in a stolen G.U.N humvee, I got out to order the men.
"Get fitted and in position! I need two men in those towers and the rest of you scattered around! You see any real G.U.N you hold fire and play your part to it's fullest, you understand me!?" I asked as everyone nodded to reply.
"Sir yes sir!"
"Get going!" I ordered them all as they broke off to get dressed.
Letting out a sigh, I made my way for the control room to find Archer sitting down next to the large bear I tagged. Hunter was resting to his other side. God she looked bad.
"What happened?" I asked as he looked up to me to reply.
"I thought it was clear. Guess we missed him."
"How can you miss that?" I asked as I referred to the huge bear before us.
"He was in the other room. We had no idea."
"And Hunter?" I wondered as I got down to look at her head.
"She took a heavy hit on this one. This guy was not messing around when he hit her. She hasn't moved since but she's alive. We need to get her to Marx as soon as possible."
"She's bleeding." I stated as I looked at the side of her head to see blood vessels popped along her skull.
"I think it's internal. That's why she needs a doctor Wreak."
"Well we can't move her yet. We need to hold this border."
"She could die if we don't." Stated Archer as I tried to think of something.
"I don't think they'll notice one missing guy."
Nodding I wondered.
"What you thinking?"
"Have Char take her back to the HQ. We can manage here now that everything is secure."
"And the Commander?" I wondered as we locked eyes.
"Wait till we get word from him. If that happens." Said Archer with what seemed to be little hope.
"You doubting?" I wondered as he shook his head to reply.
"Just worried...just worried."
Looking to Hunter as she was breathing slowly, I got back on my feet to shout.
"Char!"
General Monroe's POV, Iraq Capital Building.
Sitting in my office, I tapped my fingers on the desk to watch as my door opened with a soldier behind it.
"Need anything General?"
Shaking my head I replied.
"No I'm fine! Just get me some intel on Black and his men! I need Raptor Voltz dead!" I stated in anger as I watched the kid shut the door in speed.
"Fucking useless." I said to myself as I looked to my desk to open the draw on the right.
Looking inside to find my .357 resting there for me, I pulled it out to place it in front of me.
Truth be told I was scared of tonight. Something seemed off. I felt like the rebellion was closing in on me. Black better pull through. And if he does I'll make sure that man is compensated well. With Voltz hurting me as much as he already has I could only imagine his face when he's the one to feel the pain. If anyone deserves to die...it's him.
Raptor's POV.
Pushing up on the grate, I found myself inside the Capital. Tossing myself over the edge I rolled into what appeared to be the boiler room. No one seemed to be here. Now was my chance to move. If I wait too long, Monroe might move from his office. I can't afford that to happen.
Getting on my feet, I looked to my right to find stairs leading up to the main floor of the Capital. I knew most of the soldiers would be in bed by now in their quarters but that doesn't mean this would be easy. I know there will be more then enough roaming around waiting for me. The stakes were high.
If I get caught, I'm dead. If I do this right, Monroe is dead. But I still might die too.
Just like old times. Accept this time Shadow won't be the one pulling the trigger. This time I would.
