Love Struck Delusion
Chapter 52 – For We Came This Far.
Raptor's POV, Iraq Capital.
Everything was different. You could feel it in the air. The soldiers were happy, productive, and motivated unlike before. The people who still watched outside the gate were now looking more accepting of the new owners of the Capital. They even seemed like they wanted to approach us. I'm sure they know we're on their side, but for right now there making the right choice.
News vans parked along the street outside as well. I had to place some guards at the gate itself to keep them out. I also ordered them to be quiet if asked any questions. The only thing I gave them permission to say was that, "All their questions will be answered in the morning."
Watching from the door as it all went down. I was starting to see G.U.N wasn't much of a burden on this area. To be honest I wasn't expecting to live past tonight. Monroe really was shorthanded I suppose.
As I stood there watching, I began to hear what sounded like a helicopter from my left. As my eyes moved in the direction I began to see it was a G.U.N bird. My men who were not on the gate immediately began to aim their weapons. Pulling out my M1911 I made my way to the landing pad that rested no further then a good hundred meters away. The chopper appeared to be coming down.
Making my way up the stairs to the platform, I stared on as it came to a landing right in front of me.
My eyes immediately noticed the pilot.
"Stand down!" I ordered my men who were now alongside me. Putting my gun away I began to approach.
Confusion was brought among them as Archer and Wreak came up behind them to ask.
"What's going on here Commander?"
"I said stand down!"
Making my way to the hold of the helicopter, I got the door. Pulling it open I rested my eyes on them.
Black's POV.
With daylight flooding the hold, I covered my eyes to feel Vector wrapping his arm around my back.
As my eyes adjusted, I widened them to see Voltz standing there; no more then a few feet away. His eyes stared at me as men behind him continued to aim at us.
"I said guns down!" He shouted while looking back at his men.
Slowly dropping their weapons, I muttered through my pain.
"Thank you."
"What happened?" He asked as Vector got me down into his arms and off the chopper.
"We'll explain inside Commander. Please help us. The Captain here is wounded along with me and everyone else. Leo is on the verge of death and Tap is barely breathing."
Looking past Vector and to Gabe who got Leo and Tap into his arms, he asked.
"You okay big guy!?"
"Yes sir!" He replied. Gabe was clearly respectful to him. We were all afraid we would have been shot by now. But thanks to him it's not that case.
"I have a doctor inside. Follow me and I'll show you."
"Thank you." Said Vector. His voice was showing appreciation. I rarely see that coming from him.
"Hey hold on a sec Commander! Their G.U.N! I don't know that uniform but I know that patch on their arms. Their the enemy!"
Raptor immediately looked back to reply.
"Like they said Archer I'll explain inside. But for now just trust me. Their on our side." Looking back to us, Raptor urged.
"Come on. Stay close."
Nodding my head I ordered my men.
"Inside. Now."
Slowly following Voltz, I began to notice the amount of looks we were given. I was expecting a bullet in my back at any moment. But without a shot being fired, we managed to get inside soon enough. Raptor still lead the way.
Raptor's POV.
My men clearly were caught off guard by the sudden presence of G.U.N soldiers behind me. But I knew they wouldn't question any more then Archer already has.
Proceeding to the medical bay I had Marx set up with Misty, I soon came to the door to knock. With Black and Vector and his men right behind me, Marx opened it to widen his eyes near instantly.
"Can we come in?" I asked as he moved aside to let us through.
"What's going on here Raptor?" He asked as he watched Vector rest Black down on a nearby bed.
With Gabe then heading to another to place his comrades down on, I replied.
"I want you to do everything in you're power to save these men. That's an order."
"But...but...?"
"An order Marx. Just trust me. Their friends."
Marx was clearly hesitant. With Archer and Wreak soon coming into the room behind us it only got worse.
"Wana explain now Raptor?" Wondered Archer as I got my breath ready.
"You wouldn't know the story so I don't expect you to believe me Archer when I tell you."
"Try me. Cause this has to be a good damn story." He stated as he looked again to Black.
Letting my eyes lock on Archer, I replied.
Twelve years ago, Pakistan Capital.
"So?" I wondered as I looked across the desk.
Shadow had his whiskey in hand. Didn't make me believe him any less, but I knew he wouldn't just say this for shits and giggles. There was a reason.
"One day when you take command of this Rebellion Raptor you remember this conversation. Back in Afghanistan when I was still with Amy, I had her convince me he might still be alive out there somewhere. I know where. And I know he's looking for her. But right now G.U.N has him buried in the dark. It will take a while for him to push the urge, but when he does he will come for us. You need to be ready." Stated Shadow as he reached in his desk to pull out a vanilla folder.
"I'm not taking your place." I said with confidence as he handed it to me.
"Look." He urged as I looked inside to see it was pictures of him with Amy. It looked like nothing more then that. Nothing special. No orders. No maps. Just pictures of him and her.
"You give that to him when the day comes Raptor."
"Give it to who?" I asked in confusion as he stood up to take my arm.
"Amy's brother. Black Rose. Once he sees all that I'm sure he'll fold his hand with G.U.N."
"You just said he's G.U.N. The Rebellion won't accept him." I stated as he nodded and walked me outside the office.
"They won't. Not at first anyway. But with you in charge they will have no choice but to accept them. Soon enough their minds will change. Then you got yourself an upper hand."
"On what?" I asked in utter confusion as he urged.
"Go put that away somewhere. It might be a while till you use it. But one day you'll understand and thank me Raptor."
"I don't...?"
"Trust me." He urged as I stared into his eyes.
End of Flashback.
"You're Amy's brother?" Asked Archer in loss as he nodded from his seat on the bed.
"I didn't know she was alive for the longest time."
"How did you contact them?" Wondered Wreak as Marx began to look over Leo.
"I didn't have to do much. Did I?" I asked as I looked to him.
"I was ordered to kill Voltz. We were caught off guard at the slums north of here. Raptor attacked Vector and Gabe and once he was done he left me a note telling me where to find him. After that we drove to Pakistan."
"You went to Pakistan?!" Questioned Marx as I nodded.
"Not inside no. But you three should remember Shadow's birthday party. Where we shot the bottles."
Wreak and Archer lowered their heads as I looked back to Marx.
"We did the same thing. Expect this time I won and I gave him that folder Shadow gave me all those years ago. Which leads me to wonder. What happened Black?"
Vector looked to his leader as he gulped.
"I jumped the gun. I was enraged and I went back to Linnen and tried to kill him there. Instead I was caught off guard and Leo was shot. Through the confusion we got away and was later attacked getting this chopper. Tap was injured on the way there and so was I."
"You were stabbed." Stated Marx as he looked at Black's stomach.
"Yeah. But it could have been worse."
Vector nodded and added.
"We almost didn't make it sir."
Looking to Archer I asked.
"Any more questions?"
Shaking his head, I let out a sigh to order.
"I want details later. For now you are to stay here with Marx. Marx...?" Cutting me off he nodded and replied.
"I know. I got this Commander."
Nodding back I stated.
"Okay. Let me know when your all done. Make sure you men get rest after this."
The three who were awake nodded as I looked back at the door where Archer and Wreak stood.
"Voltz!"
Looking back, I stared eye to eye with Black. He looked out of his place here, but through all that and his pain, he said.
"Thanks."
Giving him a smile, I replied.
"Just focus on your men. And Wreak?"
"Yes sir?" He wondered as I replied.
"Get them new clothes. Uniforms in fact. Once you're done get back to your duties. The speech isn't going to prepare itself."
"Yes sir. Right away." He replied as I watched him leave.
Taking my chance to exit as well, I was clung to by Archer who now followed me back to my office.
"You know the chance your taking here right?"
"I do."
"Their G.U.N."
"Their friends." I stated as he shook his head.
:Maybe to you, but the rest of the Rebellion thinks their enemies." Stated Archer as I nodded and urged.
"Once they have recovered things will change. I promise. If you want, you have permission to monitor them. But I assure you they won't be trouble."
"I will watch them Raptor. I don't trust G.U.N. Not after everything."
"I understand." I replied as he turned to leave my office.
"But give them a chance!" I urged him as he ignored me.
Letting out a sigh, I looked back to my desk to see my speech resting there in it's folder.
With the sun raising I knew it was only a matter of time till things began.
Taking my seat, I let out another sigh.
"Commander?"
Opening my eyes I looked back to my door to see three men standing there. Two Rebellion soldiers and one G.U.N "kid." Looking into his eyes I saw he was scared.
"Like you said he was in the stairwell sir." Stated one of my soldiers as I nodded and ordered.
"Sit him down here. Then please leave us."
"Yes sir." He replied as the two of them sat him down in front of me.
Waiting till they were gone, I focused my attention back on the kid. His eyes were wandering, but with a snap of my fingers, I got him to look at me directly.
"You remember me Aiden?"
Nodding he replied.
"Yes sir. I do."
"Good. Then let me ask you something."
With his attention set on me, I asked.
"What are you going to do now?"
Sitting back in my chair, I waited for his answer as he sat there in confusion.
Shadow's POV. Iraq border.
Driving to the gate, I noticed it was open. Men worked to the side of the road and it was clear what it was. With the ground dug up, I watched in sadness as they dumped the bodies of my comrades inside. Dead soldier after dead soldier.
Slowly approaching the men in a normal car, I came to a stop in front of the commanding officer. His body came around to the driver's side. He looked no more then twenty years old, but as our eyes met he asked.
"What's your business here tonight sir?"
Using my offhand, I pushed my M9 under my leg to reply.
"Coming back from Pakistan sir. I had family there for the holidays. On my way back home. Was hoping to get through you boys. I don't mean to cause trouble."
Looking me over, the soldier soon asked.
"Got any weapons on you this morning?"
Reaching for my M9 I replied.
"Yes sir. Just this."
Taking my gun as I brought it up to the window, he replied.
"Your clear to enter then. Sorry for the trouble. But we can't have anyone but Rebellion troops carrying open firearms. Especially today."
"Understood. May I go now?"
Nodding he replied.
"Yeah. Get going."
"Thank you." I replied as I slowly continued my drive.
Now inside the border, I proceeding along the main road. Going for my phone; I dialed up Linnen who answered in no more then a few rings.
"I'm here sir."
"Good. How does it look?"
"Their burying our men outside the border in the sand. At least a few dozen. Like a mass grave." I stated.
"I told you they were nothing more then savages. Do you still have your gear?" He wondered as I nodded to myself.
"It's all in the trunk. I'm going to set up somewhere near the Capital now sir."
"Copy that. Once the speech is over I want you to do what we talked about. Once your inside you find a way to Voltz, understood?"
"Yes sir. I'll contact you in a few days."
"Good luck." He urged as I hung up my phone.
Refocusing on the road, I soon began to see there was quite a crowd at the gate to the Capital. There would be three times more in the hour I'm sure. I had to get set up now. Pulling off to the curb, I got out of my car to look back at the crowd. Then slowly I made my way to the trunk to look inside.
Two duffel bags rested inside. Opening the one to my left up first, I stared at an UMP 45. Under it was a set of armor and more gear then I could count beyond. Shutting it, I went to the other bag to see it was a set of clothes. A pair of blue jeans, a brown tee shirt, and a new cell phone. Taking the bag, I quickly got changed and placed my old phone inside the other bag with the guns. It would be a few days till I could come back here, but by then it should be worth it.
After I was all dressed, I got myself ready to head for the gate.
Slowly pushing my way in the crowd, I prepared myself mentally. This was going to be a lot. I had to be ready for anything.
As soon as I was ready, I waited for Voltz and the speech. I waited...for the man I'm ordered to kill.
